Holy fuck, I've gotten so rusty at Smash Bros. for not playing it in months. That or everyone's just getting better.
I cannot for the life of me understand how people can tap jump comfortably
I am the opposite jumping with a button doesn't feel right at all, I wish it did because certain tech is impossible with the stick but yeah
I don't feel right giving all of my movement controls to one finger. Its also easier to jump straight into an arieal attack using the button, since I lack that kind of coordination between hands.
I am the opposite jumping with a button doesn't feel right at all, I wish it did because certain tech is impossible with the stick but yeah
i tried playing on someone else's controls who had tap jump off and i killed myself 3 times. button jump is not for me.
If I can think of one thing that separates the nubs from the prubs it's whether you use tap jump or not.
1v1 me u button baby
haha okay let me just boot up my Wii U which is signed by both Sakurai and the New York Mets Pro shit right here also you're from across the pond so there are no sticks and buttons only lag and praying
First time I've seen a Captain Falcon player ragequitting lol.
I didn't even know it was possible to turn off tilt jumping when I first started playing (it was possible in Melee, right? I've only ever played at my friend's house) so it's just what I've always been used to, but now I've been trying to play Ganondorf and make use of his really interesting up tilt but it's basically impossible without jumping or up-smashing.

You need a hack to disable it in Melee. That's what tourneys do, isn't it? I don't remember them doing this back when I went to events, but I've heard it's common practice now.
To whomever suggested I counter Sonic Spam with Shield-Grabs, thank you thank you thank you. This works so well. Sonic as a character is pretty much just pure offense; he's a glass cannon. Play defensively and he'll make mistakes, leaving him wide open for a punish. I just played a Sonic who did nothing but homing attacks and spin dashes; I ended up winning when I nailed him with three of Dedede's F-Smashes in a row. [editline]26th February 2015[/editline] On an unrelated note, looking at the packaging for my King Dedede Amiibo informs me that one of the foreign spellings of his name (I believe it's French) is "Roi DaDeDou". And that's amazing.

Many competitive players play with tap jump on in later games as playing with the mindset of having it on makes it much easier to adapt to 64 and Melee, which both have tap jump on at all times. I personally don't see what the big todo about having it be off is, doing tilts without accidentally jumping is pretty easy and aerials are typically done with the C-stick anyway to prevent improper airstrafing while doing an aerial. (Doing a down aerial with down + A results in a fastfalled down aerial in most Smash games, whereas using c-stick-down would result in a down aerial that is not fastfalled.)

I know a fair amount of people who bind jump to one of the shoulders, then shield/grab to X/Y. This way no fingers are pre-occupied with inputs that would cause conflict of intent. Same reason why people use the clawgrip when holding their controller.

That feels the most comfortable and has the best mix of that and utility, in my opinion. [editline]26th February 2015[/editline] You know, I'd love to see an arcade stick made specifically for Smash. The optimal layout would be... interesting, to say the least.

Tap jump means I can throw out Marth shorthop Fairs faster in Melee/PM because my thumb doesn't have to travel from jump to the C-stick every time
Tap jump means I can throw out Marth shorthop Fairs faster in Melee/PM because my thumb doesn't have to travel from jump to the C-stick every time
You can alternatively use button jump + control stick and A for the SH fairs
You can alternatively use button jump + control stick and A for the SH fairs
Doing so would make you move forward, whereas a shorthop with a c-stick f-air would not on it's own.

Do you guys think it'd be possible to de-clone Dark Pit via patches or is that too big for a patch download?
Do you guys think it'd be possible to de-clone Dark Pit via patches or is that too big for a patch download?
If they can add entirely new characters then no, of course not
First time I've seen a Captain Falcon player ragequitting lol.
What a terrible Falcon Doesn't grab more than one mechakoopa
Do you guys think it'd be possible to de-clone Dark Pit via patches or is that too big for a patch download?
They probably wouldn't drastically change any character via patches. If Dark Pit will ever be decloned, it'll probably be in the next Smash. Unless you're just talking about changing his stats around like balance patches usually do, then they might do that. They could further emphasize his greater attack power, for example.
Do you guys think it'd be possible to de-clone Dark Pit via patches or is that too big for a patch download?
It's definitely possible, but unlikely.

He will probably be replaced with Magnus in the next game.
