Uh excuse you dark pit was in Kid Icarus uprising too!!
Well technically he literally started out as a Brawl alternate color. :v:
KI:U started development while Brawl was already underway IIRC, so it's not unreasonable the black palette for Pit was created to reference a preempting idea from his other ongoing project. I mean, Brawl already references a design that wouldn't be used again for several years with Pit himself. Sakurai refused to comment on whether Brawl inspired the KI:U design or the other way around, so at this point either theory is near equally plausible.

Picking up Ike as my third main. He's like Ganondorf with combos and mobility but somehow feels even stiffer to use. the edge game is strong tho.
I don't know why but it bothers me that the Pokemon in smash are clearly based on the anime, but there's no other recognition of the anime other than that. Mostly the music, the diamond/pearl remixes in Smash are absolutely awful in my opinion

What is this trying to be even

And this is a thing I dunno maybe I am being a bit too complainy but I really didn't like the pokemon remixes all that much this time around

Is Jigglypuff the polar opposite of Little Mac? Hugely useful revocery, light weight, cherry tap attacks vs. worthless recovery, middling weight and vicious attacks.

Hugely useful revocery, light weight, cherry tap attacks vs. worthless recovery, middling weight and vicious attacks.
I don't know a huge amount about Jigglypuff play but for someone to be a polar opposite of Mac I'd image they would heavily if not almost entirely focus on aerials, as that is something Mac can't use at all. [editline]27th February 2015[/editline] I think that'd actually be a pretty interesting mechanic, swap Mac so the fighter's abilities are greatly weakened on the ground so they constantly have to keep jumping around. I sounds like the kind of thing that would suit Falco but his playstyle has been established for like 15 years so let's not screw with that. Maybe if they ever introduced a Flying-type Pokemon? [sp]I'm ignoring that Charizard is actually half flying[/sp]
I don't know why but it bothers me that the Pokemon in smash are clearly based on the anime, but there's no other recognition of the anime other than that.
What makes them based on the anime? In the original games, they 'talked' the same way, it's just that they didn't bother to translate it. For example, look at the Jigglypuff in the Pewter City Pokémon Centre.

[sp]I'm ignoring that Charizard is actually half flying[/sp]
The difference is that Jigglypuff isn't entirely worthless on the ground. Forward smash can KO, rollout can KO, sing requires your target to be grounded (only really ever useful as a hard read), Jiggs can low profile underneath attacks when crouching (which you can punish if you react quickly). Meanwhile Mac is helpless in the air, he has extremely little range and zero KO potential with his air attacks other than Up-B (and even then it doesn't go as far). Hell, the only offstage KO he can net without a SD is to footstool jump off of someone. While Mac thrives on the ground and Jigglypuff thrives in the air, it's for different reasons that they do so. Jigglypuff is faster in the air and floaty with multiple jumps. Mac is fast on the ground and his attacks have armor and high priority. Jigglypuff cannot beat out the larger hitboxes from Shulk's air attacks, Mac just takes the hit on the chin and powers through, this creates a diverging style between them. Apples to oranges.
Honestly if I had to make only a minor change to Mac, I'd give him stronger aerials, but all of them put him into a fastfall state, similar to the divekick of Sheik, Sonic and ZSS. You can't air combo because you're grounded shortly after using them, but you still have options for dealing with airborne enemies. Perhaps they would all be downward strikes, to pull the enemy back to the ground and set them up for one of your much stronger grounded attacks; your aerials serve your ground game, rather than suffering harshly to make the latter your only real option.
He will probably be replaced with Magnus in the next game.
You misspelled Medusa.
You misspelled Medusa.
That's a funny way to say Hades.
That's a funny way to say Hades.
Yo, that's not how you say Viridi.
I'm certain it will be Magnus because he was actually a playable character.
I'm certain it will be Magnus because he was actually a playable character.
I don't think he holds enough clout to be a fighter. Sure you play as him, but there are much more interesting characters in KI that would probably be in front of Magnus in the running for being a fighter in Smash. Like Hades or Medusa, even Viridi, to an extent. Also, yadda yadda another anime swordsman.
no more kid dickeruses please
I did a bit of bug fixing, mild annoyance fixing, and I added a few alts to the next version of Smashup(I still need a better name, someone give me something). I have Bowser, Captain Falcon, Donkey Kong, Dr. Mario, Mr. Game and Watch, and Ganondorf in. (A list of all the alts that are at least partially done can be found here) When you select a character without an alt, it will default to the costume ID 0, or their default costume. Clearing the canvas with more than 10 characters works correctly now. Removed redundant code. Fixed an issue with characters having to be brute forced to the correct size by changing the DPI of the specific images to 95.99.

There is NO disadvantage to lacking ground, because you can always be in the air. The only weakness Jiggs really has is the super lightweight, couple with no ranged attacks. However Mac also has no ranged attacks so pretty much... yeah I'd make a bet on Jiggly any day
I'm glad customs would mean Diddy gets dethroned Oh... wait...
People think that the customs would make the game better but really you're gonna open pandora's box
I don't think most people think it will make the game "better", just make this particular tournament more interesting. [editline]27th February 2015[/editline] Especially with a lot of complaints of "flowchart" fighters and playstyles that feature little to no variation this definitely opens up opportunities to see and play fighters without being forced to use the one way that has been proven to be the most effective. [editline]27th February 2015[/editline] It's also a chance for fighters that get no tournament play to have their chance to shine
People think that the customs would make the game better but really you're gonna open pandora's box
people just want to see if customs create a better variety in top tier characters. nobody can really say with authority that customs will be "better" we have no idea yet.
About Little Mac's alts, add two variations of him so you have wireframe and normal Mac as seperate ones without having to increase the max amount of costumes.
Looks neat. I updated the version to include Little Mac (Wireframe), no other changes though aside from every array being one bigger.
I'm glad customs would mean Diddy gets dethroned Oh... wait...
Maybe Smash4 just won't be good to play competitively. Maybe that's a conclusion we could come to to save ourselves some time.
Maybe Smash4 just won't be good to play competitively. Maybe that's a conclusion we could come to to save ourselves some time.
I expect people to try for two years at least to make it work, especially with Nintendo funding tourneys. Brawl fizzled out after several years because, despite it being about as anti-competitive as it could possibly be, people wanted to make it work because abandoning the unique movesets and varied stages would have been a real shame. It died off when Project M appeared on the tourney scene specifically because it took the best of Brawl, the best of Melee and the best of 64 and got rid of most of the parts of Brawl's gameplay that people hated. Smash 4 will thus probably last a handful of years as well.
