Beta's up, played an hour of it, all I gotta say is, holy fuck, this game is in a really bad shape. If this is their latest build, and they only have 28-ish days to improve it, this is going to be a trainwreck.

I got like 15 fps with 4xAA before maxed out with a 560 Ti, with these beta drivers and if I lower AA I average around 40 fps on all ultra.

This is a few weeks old build because ~console certification~
Played one and a half games before work. First impressions:
For the record I have an i5 3570k, 560 Ti, and 8 GB of RAM and I already upgraded to the specific BF4 beta drivers.
All my comments are things that I noticed while playing that I didn't notice from just noticed from watching videos. (Of which believe me, I watched a lot of.) Meaning, most of the stuff here is going to sound negative because I'm already familiar with many of the positive changes and features.
- Vehicle physics are slightly tweaked and improved, but still bad and Frostbitey.
- Sprint is no longer an instant hyperspeed button. It takes time to build up. This fixes one of my annoyances with 3.
- The game runs like BF3 did when first came out, which means not that good, despite not really looking any different.
- I get lots of stuttering like I did back when BF3 launched and my computer was worse.
- The netcode [I]seems[/I] to be better with hit registration being a lot more consistent.
- The tank shell drops so fast that they may as well move the crosshair down a couple degrees. I feel like I'm shooting sandbags.
- I'm really annoyed that each side doesn't start with their unique weapons. I was really hoping that US would start with M-16s, China with their QBZ, and Russia with the AK-12. Everybody starts with the AK-12.
- You start out with essentials unlocked. Every gun comes with red dot and laser, tanks already have their coaxial MG's and smokes, etc.
- You can now spawn inside of any vehicle your team owns as long as nobody has touched it since it spawned. This is a welcome change.
I really don't want to upgrade my computer because I can run every other game except Star Citizen's hangar module pretty much flawlessly, but I'm going to have to start considering it based on how BF4 runs.

This really bugs me as well, I seriously hope that its just because they put just two weapons in for each class in the beta though.
I mean, each side has had unique starting weapons ever since the first Battlefield game. I really hope they don't make this the first one to ditch that.

Oh it drives me up a wall.
However, this might be a beta thing because I noticed both ingame and on Battlelog that the only assault rifles are the AK-15 and SCAR. If you look through pretty much anything on Battlelog you'll see that there's far less guns and equipment than there should be. This has me hoping that they are limiting the weapon sets for the beta and that in the final they'll have BF3 style faction weapons.
Yeah get some crazy freezing/stutter even though the game otherwise runs pretty smooth.
It's not on your end. The stuttering is caused by server lag. You can test this by lowering your setting to minimum--you'll still stutter.
Also, I'm not sure how feel about this whole Battlepacks thing. EA is selling a game for 60-120 dollars, if I go into the loadout screen I should NOT see "You have the 6x scope, get the 8x scope in a battlepack today!"

Also, the team differentiation is just awful so far. Everyone on both teams is just a grey blob of urban camo.
I'm getting stutter on my 7970ghz, but that's namely because I'm cranking it to Ultra mode.
Some things I've noted so far:
- VOIP is fucking useful
- The game is gorgeous[can't wait for SweetFX!]
- You can now pretty much do whatever you want with your kits
- You can lean. Life has become so much easier.
- Also of stuff is better managed now for quickly changing weapons and such.
- Unlike BF3, a few shot is all it takes to drop someone.
- Bullets are much faster than before.
Battlefield 3 killed people pretty fast too
I'm glad that leaning is in though holy shit, the battlepack thing might just be for early access to kit. They did the same to unlock all upgrades for things in BF3. You didn't have to, but if you were an impatient fuck that doesn't want to play the game, you did.
Wait, you can lean? How do. By the way, I discovered you can press crouch when swimming to dive under the surface for a short period.
Also, while the greyer color palette can muddle things a little, I am SO GLAD they ditched the high-contrast style of BF3. I can actually pick out other players against the environment now.
And yeah, time-to-kill does seem lower. I think they might have learned more from what people liked about BC2 this time around.

If you're close to the edge of wall and facing it, ADS will lean you out to the side.

You get up against a wall, and slightly lean left and right with A and D.
It's usefulness though is more-or-less like the ctrl cover feature in Red Orchestra.

First game was a 0-567 ticket loss as we were penned in our main the entire match. Yep it's Battlefield alright.
On the plus side the game doesn't run too terribly for me other than the stutters which I guess they already are working to fix. Also the options screen is beautiful.
Anyone else here having problems joining servers? I keep getting this shit:

Pressing reconnect does nothing, I just get the same thing again. The weird thing is that I can spectate games no problem.
