am I missing a major part of playing the game whenever I jump in a helicopter? whenever I take off if I get anywhere close to a point an enemy AA vehicle locks onto me in less then five seconds and I shot down pretty much instantly because the only way to avoid heatseekers is to spam flares and hope they don't launch another missile (which they fucking always do). I can't kill the tanks either because helicopters do jack shit to ground vehicles (I mean seriously - a fucking missile from an attack chopper should one-shot a fucking motorcycle but unless you're fucking spot on the splash damage is basically nothing, and forget trying to kill a tank with a helicopter because you're gonna get shot down by the resident engineer before you can do any damage because it takes ten minutes to kill tanks with aircraft weaponry).
It should take a LOT more time for AA rockets to lock onto an enemy aircraft. Even when I use them it feels like I'm taking the easy way out since all you have to do is point in the general direction and spam rockets until you kill them. Is there some fancy flying trick to avoid a lock - on? I'm basically doing fucking somersaults and doing every twist and turn that I can but it doesn't do anything.

The Warthog is an amazing anti-ground jet, and the lock-on ground missiles can destroy a tank if you stay locked on and hit with both.

I'm not talking about jets. Helicopters have no useful air-to-ground weapons until they get the 25mm cannon, which does fuck all damage to anything armored.
In the absence of AA, the attack helicopter is great at killing tanks and doesn't need any upgrades to get right to killing. It is probably the tanks worst enemy. The problem is that AA is everywhere and it's honestly a little too good. Attack helicopters are worthless only because their counters are so strong. Attack helicopters are in a good place balance-wise, it's everything else that's too good.
The scout helicopter is all around good at everything. Before you get the 25mm, all you can do is strafe infantry, which is pretty easy once you get used to the aim. The repair monkeys feel like they've been nerfed, which is the only reason the scout helicopter was so ridiculously powerful to begin with. On its own, its a powerful weapon but has to be wary of AA.

Yeah, I've noticed this with SRAW and helicopters. If I miss when it's still flying towards the helicopter, I might as well just load in another one because it turns into a satellite.
BF4 is currently half price. Is it good? Stable? Fun? I've been on the fence for quite a while about buying this game
It's getting more and more stable. I'd say it's worth it seeing as I've put down 150 hours to the game, many of them were very very fun.
literally the only counter is launching ECM when you see the MAA launch the missiles and even then it may not work because these missiles don't listen to physics and will do 360 degree turns with a 4 meter radius at 600kph
You also have a fraction of a second to use flares if you hear the warning beeps.
You also have a fraction of a second to use flares if you hear the warning beeps.
too bad the flares have this delay that makes no sense and the MAA has 4 more missiles ready
ECM also doesnt work with helis, jets only
helis cant get away fast enough
Made an FP EU platoon, message me about becoming admin on it and sorting out emblems and shit.

Still needs sexifying with emblem and stuff but for now it'll serve for keeping us together.
[editline]28th February 2014[/editline]
Relying on one of you Murricans to make an FPUS
FUCK YOU EA FUCK YOU FOR NOT ACCEPTING MY GREENMANGAMING CODE
EDIT: FUCK YES TRIED AGAIN AND IT WORKED!
Servers with language filters and weapon/class limits are literally the worst. It's an R rated game ffs (@former) and the biggest part of BF is being able to switch to a class that is most useful in a given situation (@latter).
Been on a server where no personal Anti tank weapons or anti air weapons were allowed, I guess the admins were massive vehicle whores or something. I didn't mind when I joined as it was on Locker but as soon as it changed to Gol railway I was like fuck this
Does Gol Railway take place on the Gol Magnum's RIS?

It works pretty good for me. You need to spam flares like literally the exact same moment you heard the warning sound (helps if you see enemy jet/MAA launching them at you, or just see them not shooting but looking at you)

what
why did they have to make caspian border smaller
it was 1200m from US deployment to E and now its 800m
for FPUS platoon, if someone can make the top half of the facepunch logo into the us flag
that'd be great

Decided to start playing again since January. Overall, I haven't experienced as much bullshit as I had before. So far no crashes and it feels like the connectivity/netcode is much smoother.
Oh, and I forgot how fucking good the AK5C is. :v:
Just went 24-4 with XM25. No regrets.
I guess I could make the FPUS platoon if it's not already been created.
[editline]28th February 2014[/editline]
Actually it would be more FPNA than FPUS.
Why not just a FP platoon for everyone and not just NA?
[editline]28th February 2014[/editline]
We can always make FP #2 and so on.
This is going to end up as a repeat to the Rockstar Facepunch group(s), I can feel it.

Because then it's easier to organize games with people in the same region

Latency, timezones, etc.
I've just applied for the EU platoon, the IGN is Overdark33.

They're that small?
Are all "new" vehicles so far in BF4 these lame small ones? Jet ski, motorcycle, buggy and now a small hovercraft.
They're that small?

I suppose the Hovercraft will play out a little different as it'll be able to traverse both water and land, fairly quickly too I imagine. That's a pretty significant advantage in a gamemode like obliteration.
Rather a small transport than a big one, leads to there being more in the map and you not getting a retarded pilot who destroys it in 30 seconds.
Like those transport chopper pilots who fly straight at engineers and then wonder why the heli crashed when a RPG blew it the fuck up
Well shit, of all my BF life, I played games with EU players most of the time even though I'm in NA. I don't mind the ping at all. I don't think I've ever been invited to or joined a NA event.
