There's no reason to force everyone to use intensive lighting.
I'm sure if DICE were given the time to finish the game that they would of added this in. You have to consider the tight deadline they were given by EA. Customisable graphics options certainly wouldn't of been the highest priority. I'm sure if plenty people pushed DICE would put such a thing in, they're doing very well with listening to the community.
There's no reason to force everyone to use intensive lighting.
You're telling me the lighting effects set to low on are intensive? Turn off shadows won't allow him to run BF4 any better, there's not many mobile GPU's that can handle the game, and many high performance and or "gaming" laptop CPU's are a couple GHz short of handing the game. This is frostbite 3, and EA is all rush rush rush with Battlefield development. Do seriously expect optimization for last gen hardware? I'm shocked the 660m can handle the game as well as it does, and I had to overclock my CPU 0.2 Ghz just to run the game on my laptop, which I only use for commander mode there days.
so did we get a platoon going up for us pc players? havent checked the thread in a day or two

Applied to FP EU. TheBritishGent.
Shadows are a massive framerate killer, you're rerendering the shape of every object that casts one
Yes, I am well aware of how shadows work, but they certainty aren't massive frame rate killers, they certainly impact FPS but not by much in the frostbite engine. It's not going to make a difference, the engine is super resource consuming regardless of your settings.
Applied to NA platoon, my name do be TheBrokenLaw
Holy shit is the new Support gun the Shrike? [editline]5th March 2014[/editline] Fucking hell I think it is, that's so incredibly rad
No one seems to believe me so does anyone have a link to where Dice stated why shadows can't specifically be turned off?
I think it's safe to assume it's because it'd give players an unfair advantage. You don't even need a direct statement from DICE about it, common sense should suffice; just look at most of Paracel Storm and imagine it without shadows :v

It's the only map I've considered carrying a flashlight for the sake of illumination.
I think Zavod is a good example. [t]http://files.1337upload.net/bf4_2014-03-05_03-08-21-43.png[/t] vs. [t]http://files.1337upload.net/bf4_2014-03-05_03-08-14-60.png[/t]
Could be replaced by static lightmaps.
Could be replaced by static lightmaps.
In a game that manipulates lighting and shadows in real time? That would be even MORE resource intensive.
In a game that manipulates lighting and shadows in real time? That would be even MORE resource intensive.
No I mean just assume trees and the like are static, weather changes could be done by adjusting the lightmap color in the pixel shader
i went back to memory lane to play some bc2 while its on sale and man is it an enjoyable videogame shame no one plays vietnam anymore
Never forget
Don't think I ever posted this here. I go fast
boy I miss being able to just kill someone with knife swings
Pressing F should just be a slash for 50 damage; takedowns should only happen when you right click with the knife out (left click would be normal slash). Or not, iunno; I just hate how buggy knifing is.
So i just recently had something weird. Some guy could burst 2x with a revolver? Is this a glitch? I instantly died by it too! He did this everytime i was encountering him. EDIT: Now i'm actually really curious how this burst exploit can be done... No i didn't lag or had any issues.
I think that's a problem with sound or something, my friend kept asking me how I double tapped the revolver so fast when we were playing but for me I shot it normally but he heard two shots really quick after each other.
I just hate how buggy knifing is.
Every time I backstab someone it changes into a front/side stab that is countered with hilarious ease Every time I get stabbed in the face the prompt never appears and mashing the button does nothing CS had the best knifing system. It never failed and knife kills were genuinely rare. [editline]5th March 2014[/editline]
iirc m60 eventually got nerfed so bad that it has the same/less stats than the russian equivilent
I used the M60 exclusively until they buffed the MG3 with a damage range increase. Thing went from pretty shit to an amazing machine gun sniper rifle rail gun overnight.
I miss BC2, it was an entirely different experience from a regular battlefield game, and that was okay.
I didn't mind most of the gameplay designs but the hit detection issues that DICE tried to patch over the course of the game were a constant source of frustration. A BC2 without a frustrating netcode/damage model would be up high on a list of favorite games for sure though and I still played hundreds of hours of it.
The BC2 damage and recoil model could work well on the BF4 weapon handling system. No more tapfire extraordinare M60.
No I mean just assume trees and the like are static, weather changes could be done by adjusting the lightmap color in the pixel shader
That would still be a step backwards.
I think Zavod is a good example. vs.
what's the command for this? i want to see if it improves my fps
The BC2 damage and recoil model could work well on the BF4 weapon handling system. No more tapfire extraordinare M60.
this, bf4's bullshit of bullets just randomly spewing around your sights when you fire more than 4 shots is fucking stupid. im not asking for laser guns but atleast make the recoil fuck with the sights like with most games.
