But at the distances CS is played at, bullet drop and travel time would do absolutely nothing.
CS with bullet drop, travel time and iron sights.
iron sights would not work with CS. I dislike ironsights enough as is, they slow down gameplay and make it much less fluid and fun. Ironsights only work for slower-paced games like Red orchestra.
I'm talking about ideal gun behavior for a battlefield game. Last time I checked battlefield had maps that bullet drop actually matters on and would still matter if travel time and bullet drop wasn't exaggerated like it is now.
imagine bf4 with cs1.6 recoil

What?
they slow down gameplay and make it much less fluid and fun.
Even more what.
what's the command for this? i want to see if it improves my fps
It's a Boolean in the game's memory that you need to change with eg. Cheat Engine on a non-pb server.
fb::WorldRenderSettings -> somewhere between 0xF4 and 0xF6 I think. There's a lot of information regarding that on different forums.
What?

What I'm trying to say is that I don't like ironsights because I like just firing from the hip because I can keep track of other things that are happening. With ironsights it forces you to focus on a tiny part of the gameplay leaving you open to get shot in the face by someone you didn't notice. I hate it when games force you to use ironsights if you want to hit anything more than ~10 feet away.
Now now it's known facts that gluing your eyeball to the sights makes the bullets fly straighter and that firing a shouldered gun if you don't glue your eyeball to the sights counts as firing from the hip.
Anybody in FPNA want to play vanilla maps? We haven't really played together and I don't have any DLC
The BC2 damage and recoil model could work well on the BF4 weapon handling system.
No more tapfire extraordinare M60.
BC2 had recoil? Are you sure that's not just the wind causing the muzzle to lift slightly?
That would still be a step backwards.
That's the point. It's supposed to be less pretty.

Iron sights are an ok "realism" mechanic, but being forced to zoom is silly and not realistic at all.
Being forced to zoom is silly and not realistic at all.
Can't you turn zooming mostly off?
Can't you turn zooming mostly off?
In BF4 yea reflex sights have almost no zoom, in BF3 you had to zoom to shoot accurately.

how the fuck else do you expect to realistically get a headshot on someone 30 yards away
it's not like you're the governor with his godmode aug

This is about gameplay, not realism. You can also aim with both eyes irl and not have much vision obstruction.
The point of iron sights is to focus on your target, if you want to see what's around you, just don't look down your sights.
[editline]beep[/editline]
Iron sights are an ok "realism" mechanic, but being forced to zoom is silly and not realistic at all.
Can't the zoom be interpreted as going from a view where peripheral vision is preferred, to a view more approximate to your field of view in real life?
As in, the field of view is more close to how much of your field of view your monitor would take up.
Or from a point where "Checking my surroundings is important to me" to "My target is important to me"?

Well fuck off and go play Counter Strike then?
It's a solid gameplay mechanic that works. While it's not perfectly realistic it's more realistic than just hipfiring because in reality, hipfiring is wildly inaccurate and stupid.
Stop your complaining.

the point
(about the length of the world's tallest building)
your head
You do not magically lose your peripheral vision when you look down sights in real life. Your bullets do not magically curve after leaving the barrel when you shoot without using sights in real life. Stop using the realism argument.

why, i had no idea you were such an expert in firearms
tell me, when was the last time you went to a range and purposely fired at the hip
even the littlest of movement can change a bullet's trajectory, retard. guns don't work like they do in rambo.

That's not random deviation, that's unsteady aim and recoil. If you can aim at a target while standing sideways and holding the gun behind your back you can hit it.

I like how you're using the 'i had no idea you were such an expert in firearms' line and then bring up shooting at the range.
These are TRAINED SOLDIERS with MILITARY HARDWARE, if you're saying a soldier somehow becomes magically less accurate because hes shouldering a weapon yet not using sights then you're the one being retarded.
arguing about the realism of a game where you can revive someone with defibs who just got headshotted with a tank shell
ok

So much negativity in this thread. This thread is now emblem circlejerk.

And now I just remembered how bloody unoriginal I am considering both my emblems are ripoffs of military insignias from other games.
it always feels like whenever I come in this thread its Altimor complaining about bullet spread and the M16A4 not being as overpowered as he wanting and how much he hates balance in games
[editline]6th March 2014[/editline]
oh and about how hes blind and can't see because of particles
Altimor should just quit Battlefield and go back to Quake.
[editline]6th March 2014[/editline]
so he can finally stop complaining about everything
Altimor should go play candy crush saga because you one hit kill 3 or more candies with extreme precision and the particle effects don't block your vision
New update. Servers are down.

i agree with him though with the stupid random bullet spread if firing full auto. the bullets shouldnt magically deviate into random directions when exiting the barrel. atleast make the recoil the reason for the spread instead of being lazy and making ADS just a tighter hip fire (thats basically what it is in 4).
