So this explains the carrier assault mode a little, but is the purpose of the rockets solely to help destroying the carrier? because IIRC in 2142 if enough rockets hit the ship it had some kind of a shield disabled, and only then it is possible to board it. Also it wasn't a control point, but a thing you needed to destroy by satchel charges and shooting at it in general.
Rockets still lowered the titan's HP after the shields were down.
And everything but knives could damage the console. I'm not a fan of Rush so I don't have any good thoughts about MCOMs, but we'll see how it plays out.

I know, it was possible to let the rockets destroy them. But i'm talking about the possibility to board carriers when they're at full HP.

Maybe there's like 2 mounted AAs shooting at helis nearby, and when rockets do enough damage, they're disabled?
I'm assuming there will be no way to enter the carriers before the hull is damaged enough. Maybe an out-of-bounds zone that disappears? Either way, I'm expecting actual holes to be blown in the ship that allow enemy infantry to get in.

Well, there was how 2142 handled it which just simply instakilled you if you went on the enemy carrier before the shield was weakened IIRC.
Also, if you haven't see, one of the Naval Strike promo screenies DID show a damaged carrier. And on one last note, as much as I love he idea of grappling hooks (And they have worked before, as BF2's DLC shown), seems kind of pointless IMO for DICE to make an entire piece of gear that will see no practical use beyond 4 maps and one gamemode. Call back when we can fastrope from a chopper instead of jumping out and hoping our chutes absorb enough fall damage.
So, after building a new PC last week I've decided to finally get this game. It's ordered, and should be here shortly. I told myself after BF3 that I wouldn't buy BF4 and I never really was interested in it until just recently. So, basically, I'm a bit out of the loop. Can someone bring me up to speed?
Is premium basically necessary now? I see they're bringing in that carrier mode and stuff, and I guess premium is the most cost effective way to get access to all the new content?
Is the gameplay much different from BF3? I just up and left BF3 not even a year after its launch, because it had horrid hit detection, battlelog was shit, game stability was shit, and day-1 bugs and connectivity issues still persisted 1 year on. Does BF4 improve much on these issues?
What else would I need to know?

It's not necessary to play the game but if you plan on buying more than two DLC's separately you might as well get it. Yes it is the most cost effective way; 5 expansions for $15 or $50 for Premium.

If anything it's worse.
In BF3 premium felt necessary because I hated the feeling of being 'left out' without throwing more money at the game.
And it's worse? Well shit, I should have expected that.
I think i'v found a new hobby in the game: Roadkills with the attack chopper on Siege of Shanghai. Played obliteration and all those people jumping from the skyscraper was too tempting
Goddamn Shadowplay. I just made a video and deleted a bunch of 1min-clips of BF4 and now I once again have ~70Gt of 1min videoclips from BF4 alone. It just makes it too easy. :v:

Goddamnit.. I feel like Youtube is doing this to all of my uploaded videos, compressing them 1000 times before making them visible.
Autobalance or team shuffling should be fucking mandatory in all pub servers for Battlefield 4. This shit is ridiculous and isn't fun for either side. Without it, every fucking game is just a curbstomp of stacked teams because good players keep playing when they win and the losing team gets filled with chaff. I'm sick and tired of losing to consequences completely outside of my control or rolling a team of retards.
Whenever I find a server with autobalance, especially if its an aggressive one, that’s an instant favorite. A lot of the best games I’ve ever had were on those servers but they are rare and aren’t always populated.
I really wish you could filter for this.

Ah, your solider too suffers from broken leg syndrome.
I'm curious to know if any of you have disabled the leaning function in Battlefield 4? I know it's possible to do so.
For me, I sometimes find it more of a hindrance, it feels like when you lean it's harder to acquire and engage a target because the ADS is tilted at an angle. Does it actually hide more of your body if you do lean or not?

If you're on PC, stop pressing the lean button everytime you go to aim.
If you're on PS4, just simply set it so Sixaxis does not control lean, same on XB1 with Kinect.
There is no disabling lean, merely changing how it functions. Disabling motion control lean simply makes it context lean like in CoD and Killzone.

If you go into Battlefield 4 > settings > PROFSAVE_profile. Search for GetInput. LeaningEnabled. Change from 0 to 1.
Done.

I've only ever been on 1 good server with auto balance and it's when they shuffle teams at the end of a round IF the ticket difference is too big AND it makes sure to keep squads together.
Every server should have this. The regular auto balance is just shit, stops me and my friends playing on the same team or switches you near the end of the game onto the losing team after you just spent the best part of 15 minutes winning it for your previous team

Pretty sure only the upper part of your torso is visible when you lean. I use it occasionally, have no problems with it.
fucking autobalance always puts me and my friends on different teams
This is how autobalance works in my experience. It's only on when I'm playing with friends. If I'm alone it will consistently put the same teams together despite one of them rolling the other for the past 3 maps.
[editline]16th March 2014[/editline]
Squad shuffling just needs to be a part of the game. I've never seen a squad shuffled team return to the dominating position they were in before and it keeps friends with friends. Losing games is fine, but I hate losing games before they even start, and I hate being split up from people.
CBJ-MS for second best PDW, holy shit; it holds hipfire accuracy so well, plus those 50 rounds of "fuck you I'm a sabot"

I almost only use it for small maps, it's amazing. Swedish quality no doubt
Laser sight, Red dot and silencer (because why not)
Fun fact BF4 will only crash if you're doing well and having fun
My favorite gun has to be the M4 Carbine. I usually do pretty well with it, but how does it stack up to everything else? I never see anyone using it.

That's a lot of missiles and explosions.
Quick question(s):
How many platoons can I join and where's the link for the FP platoon?
Why do I not see M16A4 used a lot in BF4, it's ye olde M16A3 à la burst mode
bastards had to nerf the accuracy instead of adding a delay between bursts or something ill fucking kill them
Wait its coming out tomorrow? Sweet. We should definitely get a platoon thing going for carrier assault.*
*As long as everything goes as planned launchwise
