I just thought about it and Final Stand is probably going to have maps set in the US ala Armored Fury. Judging by that premium trailer at least Alaska
The new Premium Knife is a nod to Battlefield 2142. That doesn't mean you have to wait to get your hands on it. Use it to steal your enemy's dogtags today!
Too bad it was that one and not the Backstabber Dagger 2000 you could get in 2142 :v:
2143 confirmed [editline]20th May 2014[/editline] They already have got knife and transport "heli" models done.
any EU folks fancy a few games tonight?
Finally picked battlefield 4 up last week and it's ok. The maps are fucking dreadful though.
Sadly that's true :c There are so few maps that are actually fun to play on. I (unlike most people I think) love playing on Flood Zone because it has clearly defined areas for both infantry and vehicles. I'm not a fan of maps that force vehicles and infantry to always interact because that usually turns into everyone going Engineer since every other class is useless. FZ is fun because you can go infantry only in B/C (and maybe A/E) while the outskirts of B/C can be easily shut down by vehicles. I do wish D had some sort of tall building behind it instead of the store, but it's still nice. I feel like FZ is one of the few maps where holding one flag doesn't necessarily mean you control the entire map. Zavod, on the other hand, is probably my least favourite vanilla map. It has lots of flags (where lots > 5) which is nice, but they're all in a fucking line. This means little to no flanking, backcapping, and the general strategy that makes large Battlefield maps fun. It's essentially TF2's 5CP push but with two points at mid and lock-on AA. The areas between points are relatively okay, but, like all terrain in BF4, the rocks and hills suffer from Lazy Collision Mesh Syndrome. Also, this is too personal to include in a map review, but I hate maps with heavy vegetation like Zavod. The visual noise outside gets so ridiculous that I tend to equip a flashlight just so I can see 5m in front of me, which IMO isn't good level design. [editline]22nd May 2014[/editline] I should probably mention that if I couldn't see past the tip of my nose because the map took place at night I'd be completely fine - it's the thousands of light and dark splotches on everything that get me mad.
Operation Locker has been my guilty pleasure, as it always ends with both 31 player teams converging at the centre of the map & making a giant moshpit.
Apparently the CTE and its netcode fixes are working really well. I don't know when they plan on integrating this back into the base game but I can't wait.

capture the.. what?

What's the current tickrate? 10? I heard him mention "Tickrate of 30" and "3 times as fast" I really hope I am mistaken
What's the current tickrate? 10? I heard him mention "Tickrate of 30" and "3 times as fast" I really hope I am mistaken
You're not. The tickrate in BF4 is very low.
You're not. The tickrate in BF4 is very low.
That's just nuts. Not that 30 Tick on a 64 player server is going to do any good, with the volume of bullets flying around, but at least it's definitely an improvement
even in that video things look a lot more responsive. This is good, I definately want to get back into BF4 when this goes live. I agree with him that BF3 felt a lot snappier, and if the increased tickrate makes it more akin to that, I'm going to have a lot of fun. BF4 mechanics wise is so much better than BF3, but in execution it was slower and sluggish and felt wrong. I'm glad they're fixing that, even though it is a bit late.
What was Battlefield 3's tick rate?
Well I hope this does indeed sort out some of that laggy hitbox feeling you get when playing Battlefield 4. After playing Titanfall for a little while which seems to have really crisp hitboxes and then going to battlefield 4, it just felt bad when you'd run behind a wall and then die and it just felt bleh. I'm kind of excited to hear about this, hope it works out good
What was Battlefield 3's tick rate?
30, to put it into perspective, CS:GO/Titanfall/TF2 are all 120 tickrate. before BF4 was locked at fucking 10 so it only registered 10 frames out 60 fps. this was the main reason i gave up on this game because how much frustration the lag was causing.

What is tickrate? :v:
capture the.. what?
Capture the errors.
What is tickrate? :v:
The tickrate of a game server is a measure of how often a server will update the game world. For example, a server running with a tickrate of 33 will update the world 33 times a second.
Server tickrate of bf4 has always been 30. Player input rate in bf4 has always been 30. Issue is server to player feedback has been at 10hz, and now they are testing it at 30.
What is tickrate? :v:
How often the game asks the server if you've been shot in the face yet
Battlefield SWAT...? DICE, what about 2143? Vietnam? 1942 on Frostbite 3.0?
only future battlefield games i want are 2143 and another WW2 themed bf on frostbite 3
Is there a way to reduce the hud elements like constantly showing conquest points and the triangles over teammates. I found alot of it rather distracting.
only future battlefield games i want are 2143 and another WW2 themed bf on frostbite 3
So much this, I really hope the next BF isn't a modern-day shooter.
SWAT-themed BF. That's dumb. [editline]23rd May 2014[/editline] At least in this current time when two Battlefield in a row were modern and some other popular games are also modern military

That game was amazing - really showed what the PS2 was capable of.
