The Tazer is the best part of this game. I roll in with the tazer and taze 2 dudes standing next to the vault, shotgun blast a guy standing next to them and gun them both down while they were on the floor. Absolute Hilarity.
I wonder when Dragon's Teeth will be out.
The new battlefield feels really underwhelming, I've played every BF game except BF4 and Hardline just doesn't feel right. It is fun cuffing people with the baton though.
I wish they gave BF1943 the attention they gave BF4
I will buy it once it goes on a sale. I'm actually glad they made a different Battlefield because now BF4 will be active longer. Hopefully they make a Battlefield 1943 or 2143 next or after BF5 if that is next. I wouldn't mind a new Bad Company either though.
I'd rather Dice focused on Mirrors Edge and Battlefront for now. I'd be perfectly fine if the next Battlefield wasn't released for another 2-3 years as long as they made decent work of those other 2 titles.
This game accurately portrays the corruption of the LOS ANGELES Police Department.
Pretty sure the news anchor during the loading screens says it is Los Angelos. I'm mostly impressed that no one is talking about their police force causing massive destruction to the city over a few million dollars possibly being stolen.
I fucking love the cops vs robbers in a city setting. I wish the map was bigger so we can have legit car chases where the Terrorists are shooting out the back of the van while 2-4 cop cars are on hot pursuit. One time, the other team had the bright idea of grabbing the bag on Heist and using a helo to escape, the whole fucking server was chasing after that thing: people parachuting and shooting from above, people on sides of buildings, people on foot/in vehicle weaving in and around to help it. I don't even care that I lost that match, it almost felt like I was playing a campaign mission. You can't tell me it doesn't feel like Battlefield when those set piece events are possible. One thing I will admit though, but I feel as if the textures/general graphics aren't up to par with BF4. I'm definitely pre-ordering this, though I might be biased because of the setting it's set in.
Hardline feels way too one-sided.
Hardline feels way too one-sided.
This, as long as the robbers actually work together you can finish a match of heist in less than 5 minutes without any trouble.
I had way more fun in BF4 in 3 hours than I did in my playthrough of BFH. I didn't like it, I'm way more into BF4 and I'll continue playing it and occasionally 3 with a friend.
So is Battlefield 4 worth buying now at 50% off? I can run Battlefield 3 pretty solidly but Hardline chugs along at a sluggish pace.
BF4 at half off? If that included premium I'd say yes.
What field upgrades do you guys run? Since they don't show up in the killcam I have no idea if everyone's running Defense or if there are players who actually care about supporting their team.

Protip: Don't drive into the enemy's vault room with an attack truck then get out to steal money. Someone did that to me so I just kept it in our base :v: Stayed alive the whole game and only came close to death at the end when they were sending 3 RPG guys after me at a time.

its funny because people said the same thing about 2142 when it came out, and BF2 HAD mod support. Also, BFBC2 was re-used assest: the game, and people never mention that. I hate how people bring up the "Its the same as the last game" argument every single time without realizing it's been said before and then forgotten about because its not really all that true If 1943 had more content to warrent it being a full retail release, people probably would have whined that it was a BFBC mod and that it wasnt worth it. [editline]16th June 2014[/editline] not every sequel has to completely reinvent the wheel
I gotta disagree. I've played every BF since the first Bad Company as well as BF2, including 1943 and BFBC2:Vietnam and Hardline feels like how BFBC2:V was to BFBC2 or 1943 was to BC1, except beefed up with enough content in it to warrant a full retail release. Its on the same engine, but apart from the UI it doesnt seem to reuse too many assets, and the certain things about the game-play are tweaked, same to how BFBC2:V tweaked things. Sure those were just X-pacs, but this has more maps, more weapons, more gadjets, and a singleplayer. Also, when people say BF games cost more because of Premium, you dont need the xpacs to play. Its not like CoD where you cant find matches because you dont have the map packs. There are still plenty of vanilla only servers out there.
I don't see the big deal considering how a ton of people who post in this thread bought BF4 despite it only being a tweaked version of BF3. [editline]16th June 2014[/editline] I mean I understand a lot of the complaints but this isn't exactly a new practice in the BF series and we haven't really protested it by purchasing BF4.

When I got my Laptop, the beta was out so I joined in and decided it was worth getting. Got it while it was on sale and got Premium at half price on Kinguin. [editline]16th June 2014[/editline] If it wasn't for all that then I wouldn't be playing it.

But I'm willing to bet that the majority bought the game with the intent of playing a slightly improved and tweaked BF3 like myself. Iirc the game was criticized heavily after it's announcement due to its similarities to the previous game.

I remember a few old PS2 games that if you bought the sequel and had a savegame from the first one, you could unlock bonus features. I'd love to play on some of the DLC BF3 maps even if they weren't re-imagined for Frostbite 2(3?)
So is Battlefield 4 worth buying now at 50% off? I can run Battlefield 3 pretty solidly but Hardline chugs along at a sluggish pace.
Yes. Vanilla maps are really good and you'll mostly miss out some weapons by not having Premium. oh and some cool maps.
Yes. Vanilla maps are really good and you'll mostly miss out some weapons by not having Premium. oh and some cool maps.
Where did he get the 50% from, anyways To me it was 25%, and now it's actually back to full price
its funny because people said the same thing about 2142 when it came out, and BF2 HAD mod support. Also, BFBC2 was re-used assest: the game, and people never mention that. I hate how people bring up the "Its the same as the last game" argument every single time without realizing it's been said before and then forgotten about because its not really all that true
Well firstly you kind of already brought that argument up yourself :v: But secondly and more importantly, I don't see why releasing a string of similar games (like you said, BC2 was probably the most audacious case of this, being almost entirely a remake of BC1 on new maps with new lighting effects) means people can't criticize Hardline for what it is; a particularly ambitious mod of a game we have been playing for 3 years now.
If 1943 had more content to warrent it being a full retail release, people probably would have whined that it was a BFBC mod and that it wasnt worth it.
Well, yes, that is a good analogy to make but in this case the hypothetical 1943 is Hardline.
not every sequel has to completely reinvent the wheel
Sure but can we get some changes or improvements after three games? I used to be a fan of CoD up until Ghosts so I get what iterative development is like but at this point the only thing that separates BF3, BF4, and Hardline is the various states of bugginess they are in and which one has boats and police cars.
Its not like CoD where you cant find matches because you dont have the map packs.
That's...not how CoD works? You can easily find matches without map pack. The matchmaker will only match you with people you can play with which, like BF3 and BF4, the vast majority of players are vanilla. Battlefield DLC is arguably more "required" though because of the gadgets and tools you get with it. Atleast CoD has the common courtesy of only stuffing one overpowered gun in it's DLC releases.
Sure those were just X-pacs, but this has more maps, more weapons, more gadjets, and a singleplayer.
More maps sure, and more weapons maybe (all the weapons in the game were weapons in BF3 or BF4 iirc), most of the gadgets we have seen are simply renames of existing Battlefield gear (love those "breaching charges" which act nothing like actual breaching charges), and a throwaway singleplayer. Except for the singleplayer (which no one is going to play or enjoy) you just presented a perfect case for why this game should be an expansion but instead will be a full price title with a $50 season pass behind it. [editline]16th June 2014[/editline] Personally I'm just going to play Battlefield 4 (or even BF3) until Hardline drops in price after a few months. It's a fun game, but it's not worth the $60-$110 I could spend on GTA V or Far Cry 4 which offer genuinely new experiences.
Where did he get the 50% from, anyways To me it was 25%, and now it's actually back to full price
It was 50% off for me on the origin website but the deal is down now. I did buy it but I got the digital deluxe edition to get the gold battle packs as well as the China Rising DLC. I have uet to play it but I hope it will be anywhere as fun as BF3.
