To those with access to CTE, how do the higher magnification scopes (3.4x, 4x etc) handle now? Are they more viable?
LevelCap likes it:
LevelCap likes it:
The CTE is making me really exited about this game again. It's like waiting for those big updates for TF2 back in the day. I wish I was at my desktop computer so I could try it out.
LevelCap likes it: -video-
Huh, well... it sure as hell looks improved, especially with that type 88 Lmg. I always knew there was something off with that gun. I'll definitely start playing again when they roll this update out.
Decided to go check out BC2 since it's on sale and a lot of people got it. People nostalgia WAYYY too hard over BC2 and 2142. Rush in BC2 is fantastic, and titan mode in 2142 is great, but if you actually go back and play these games and compare them to BF3 and BF4 the gameplay doesn't hold up nearly as well. Hit boxes are fucked, weapon balance is fucked (M2 CG + Extra explosive damage anyone?), vehicle balance is fucked, sound isn't as good etc. etc. People keep acting like 2142 and BC2 were the most amazing games ever to be created when something goes wrong in BF3 or BF4 but in all honesty they're not nearly as amazing these days as all these circle jerkers keep thinking it is
lol "nostalgia"... I still play BC2 occasionally, it's a much better game and my friends can actually run it (as opposed to BF4 which is a total resource hog)
I preferred the sounds in BC2 compared to bf3/4. There's more 'oomph' to it, it sound more 'explosive' even if its fake, I rather have that. I find BC2 maps just nice, its not too huge like BF3 like Caspian Border, where there is so much unused space, while BC2 felt just right. I still think its more fun, people were more together, there is more teamwork, at least I felt that. The vehicles weren't too much or little, it felt just nice.
This is my point. Go back and actually PLAY it these days. I changed my BF4 sound settings around to have "war sounds" or whatever it's called, and after playing that for months and going back to BC2, BC2 sounds no where near as good. The explosions are debatable, but the weapons in BC2 sound like they're shooting pebbles. There's a distinct lack of AA in a major way, while i'll admit BF4 is overkill for AA, BF3 got it nearly perfectly. In BC2, a half decent attack helicopter team that knows not to fly 20 feet above the ground so they don't get hit by a tracer can dominate an entire match with no way to counter them. Sniper mortar spam is as prevalent as grenade spam is in BF2 and 2142 these days, which is quite disappointing. A number of the servers i played in that didn't have a cap on recon, half of each team were just mortar spamming the rush objectives like crazy. Assault class having the ammo box instead of the medic box. The 40mm grenade spam never stops, the second you use any cover someone playing assault sitting on an ammo box spams 8 40mm grenades your way until the entire building you were using as cover is gone. There's no doubt the maps in BC2 are better, both rush and conquest. Personally i think that's the only thing that has really stood up over time for BC2 however. Good map design can last forever (look at Dust 2) but other things such as sound, visuals and player base don't. Aside from the influx of steam summer sale players, a majority of people playing BC2 these days are the rank 50s who know what to exploit on each map. Sit here, mortar spam that spot, get kills and prevent them from doing anything.
That CTE update... and I just got some actual money, I might finally cave in
I have to admit that video is really encouraging. I mean, I know that all this stuff should've been taken care of a long time ago, but it's still really exciting to see DICE making real progress and improvements with Battlefield 4.
This is pure agony.

Meanwhile on any map without mobile-AA in BF4, a single scout chopper can slaughter people without end while facing nearly no risk (as the AT-4 is seriously gimped and the only other AA solutions aren't very good)
Sniper mortar spam is as prevalent as grenade spam is in BF2 and 2142 these days, which is quite disappointing. A number of the servers i played in that didn't have a cap on recon, half of each team were just mortar spamming the rush objectives like crazy.
Though mortar spam is annoying, I never found it much of an obstacle on most BC2 maps. Sniper spam was otherwise just as annoying as BF4, and for all the same reasons: when half your team is "sniping" (aka stroking themselves in the corner while chanting their mantra "ONE SHOT ONE KILL" and never hitting anything) they're not attacking people, distracting enemy vehicles, or even capping points... they're useless. They could remove the sniper rifles from the whole BF series and if anything it would improve gameplay.
Assault class having the ammo box instead of the medic box. The 40mm grenade spam never stops, the second you use any cover someone playing assault sitting on an ammo box spams 8 40mm grenades your way until the entire building you were using as cover is gone.
BF4 switching medic/ammo roles was a good idea overall, but once again the 40mm was never much of a problem for me. I lived in Engineer class running AT-4 all day and topped scoreboard pretty much every game ever. Infact only 40mm spam I ever did was smoke grenades: I coated buildings full of snipers (friendly or enemy) in smoke, forcing them to actually come out and play
There's no doubt the maps in BC2 are better, both rush and conquest. Honestly, I like the way jets are in BF3 and 4. They're mainly there for air control, and while they can be used for ground attack, that's not their main role. if there were no jets and no mobile AA, choppers would dominate in every match. hand held AA just isnt good enough to combat a good chopper pilot and a scout chopper full of engineers. [editline]2nd July 2014[/editline] And there were a lot of snipers in BC2 (See: Bushwookie)
Does Origin lie about download speeds? because sometimes it tells me I'm getting 5MB/s faster speed then what I am actually getting :v:
Does Origin lie about download speeds? because sometimes it tells me I'm getting 5MB/s faster speed then what I am actually getting :v:
Same for me. Realistically i'm getting 200 kb/s max but on origin it frequently jumps to 250 or even stays at 500-1mbs for 10 seconds.
Does Origin lie about download speeds? because sometimes it tells me I'm getting 5MB/s faster speed then what I am actually getting :v:
Think it shows uncompressed data speed instead of compressed.
Does anyone have this weird glitch(?) where sniper scope reticle (when aimed ofc) is blurred out? Sometimes, very rarely, the sniper scope reticle has sharp lines, but most of the times it's simply blurred for me. Just another thing to add the list of wonders found in BF4. :v: Anyone mind explaining how and why, if anyone happens to know?
Hold shift and/or dont move
Hold shift and/or dont move
what.. I don't think it's.. okay, I'll try tomorrow. If you're wrong on this one..
At this point I can't help but be pissed off with the game. The CTE fixes are certainly welcome, but the engine itself still feels broken as hell. When I switch back to any game other than battlefield, and I do many any, my aiming has gone to shit. The hitboxes are so laggy in Frostbite and it pisses me off even further to think that a new game is already being released when there's content people have actually paid for that isn't done releasing for their current fetid pile of shit. A part of me feels like the only reason they are fixing it is so they can actually release Star Wars whatever - another game on the same brokenass engine. The hitboxes were still a problem in BC2. MoH flopped so Battlefield is their new cash cow. They need to scrap that shit engine. I got tricked into buying Call of Duty for $60 until around Black Ops. I won't get tricked into this shit again. In fact, I'd almost rather play Call of Duty at this point.
Hold shift and/or dont move
Now, why did you lie to me? The reticle was still blurry btw. [editline]4th July 2014[/editline] Found a "fix" for it though, but you're still a liar :v:
I like how DICE, a Swedish developer, is apparently celebrating the 4th of July. It's probably because EA asked them to, though.
I like how DICE, a Swedish developer, is apparently celebrating the 4th of July. It's probably because EA asked them to, though.
Isn't dice la working on the game now though?
One thing I hate about it is for some reason I can'r find any fking people to kill like before I even find like 1-3 people I can kill like 20 people in BF3 or 10 in Battlefield hardline
Isn't dice la working on the game now though?
Perhaps, but it's still a subsidiary and it simply seems very arbitrary. Half the player base is still going to be like "huh what's so special about today?" I'm not complaining, it just seems funny to me.
If easter egg would be on a new map that would make sense since DICELA are doing them
Here's yet another bug in BF4, related to the thermal optics in tanks and such. Usually it has that black/white color theme, right? Well, sometimes, like you all probably know, it changes into this slight brown/beige/white color theme, which is temp-fixed by turning the Thermal Optics off and back on. :v:
This is pure agony.
Where I am right now, Max speed is around 100 - 120kb/s Quit yo complaining.
I reckon the Battlefield 4th of July CTE was a cover-up to test out new particles/effects for Starwars Battlefront. :v:
Its a shame CTE doesn't use BF4 assets. My SSD can't take two BF4s :v:
What's CTE?
