Okay, so, just got BF4 yesterday.
First thing I can praise it for: Sound design. I really, really like it.
So tried BF4. It's pretty fun, but maps take sometime to load and for me it crashed to dekstop twice as soon as it's done loading the map, but when I do get into a match it's fun. Also is it usually hard to find normal servers? I can only find like two that aren't hardcore or pistol only servers and are actually, you know, populated :v:
EDIT: Yeah, no, it crashes all the fucking time. I can get maybe one round in before it crashes :/
The Last of Us seems to have taken a page out of the Battlefield 4 book.

Battlefield that is going to have zombies? Meh, i can't believe it. That is not the battlefield i know...
It's a custom server plugin made by the community iirc.
I wouldn't care as much for an HD Bf2142 as much as a fix of the original.
I've been playing Battlefield 3 recently and I figure I should get something in the sale, but I can only afford either Battlefield 4 or Battlefield 3 Premium. Which would be the better offer? I already have Battlefield 3 and the new weapons look cool, and I sort of feel like I'd be at a disadvantage against other players starting off again in Battlefield 4.

If I keep playing with retro i'm gonna end up with a montage dedicated to him killing me.
Okay, my new favorite thing to do is just sit in spawn on basically any map, fly an MAV around and destroy every single explosive snipers throw down in their faces, it's hilarious and for some reason everyone ignores the MAV.
[editline]9th August 2014[/editline]
Oh god I'm giggling like a fucking schoolgirl just pushing snipers off the roofs on Siege of Shanghai with the MAV.

It's just just most of the server using knives vs. a squad using guns.
I've been getting smoother performance lately, was there an update to bf4 in the last few days?
We need Vietnam on frostbite 3 and 2143
I second that, but we need World at War and Vietnam in full frostbite3.
Also, BF Zombies could be an attempt to attract some players that are waiting for KF2?
Mayhaps...
*downloads BF4 freetime(25gb worth), opens up battleturd launches campaign to set up and get a feel for it on the pc, game doesn't do anything but says it's running* cool.. cool 25gb of nothing

i'm part of eGO clan and i can tell you what's up. zombie warfare is a server-side mod that works like infection. it takes a percentage of players and places them on the "zombie" team, and those guys can only use knives. they have modified health as well, so it's harder for the "human" team to survive. when a human dies, they get swapped to the zombie team. simple as that. the goal is to run the zombies out of tickets i think, although they may have changed the rules to run based off timer.
there are a few servers for zombies out there, but the ego one is passworded for event setup. i'm guessing we just got some DICE devs to join some fun.

i don't see how that relates really.
So I get to playing the free trial, and the game runs smooth, 50 fps on all high. well about 2 minutes into the match it starts stuttering, dropping to 5 fps or freezing for a second. These become more common as the game progresses, before it become totally unplayable. I want to like this game like I did with BF3, but with these problems I can't even level up fast enough. So now the game trial is counting down, and I can barely play this.
Windows 8 64-bit
Geforce 470 1.5gb
AMD Phenom 2 x6 2.75ghz
4gb ddr3 1033 ram

You're lucky, my game says it's open and i'm playing but just doesn't maximise or open, it just stays on my toolbar

Hover over it in the toolbar and right click then alt tab
You wouldn't know it considering how much screen real estate the shield takes up.
BF4 still runs like shit for what it is. I should be getting a lot more out of an i5 and 760 than I am, and I do with any other game, but BF4? Unoptimized as fuck.
Actually a 760 is worse than an 670. if you want to upgrade your gpu you should either get 670/680 or 770/780.

people forget that all the time and think higher number = better card period.

Tried everything, found out that I had to repair the game via right clicking it on origin....

it still isn't a low end card. the 760's good enough where it should still be able to run bf4 on high at a decent framerate, and it should be (in theory) getting double the performance of my GTX460 (running on mostly medium at 1080p at around 30-45 fps)

Nvidia tends to be pretty confusing with how they number cards. I had a nice schematic somewhere but I keep forgetting it
Thanks for the reminder, got to upgrade soon, and I might have to look for alternatives

760 isnt high end its average, 770/780/titan are high end hence why the price jumps $100-500 more.
Same goes with 670/680 compared to 660/650.

I think it goes along the lines of
GTX X80>GTX X70>GTX X60 and not much seems to change bewteen generations anyway, so a newer X60 wont beat the older X70.

My GTX 670 can run BF4 on ultra at 1080p 60 FPS (though I don't use AA) but it doesn't feel that smooth at all times, so 760 is kinda bad if you want graphics.

770's value wasn't nearly as great as it is now when I bought this card. As for the other options their price vs. their performance is just ridiculously skewed.
Doesn't really matter, everything else runs great and I just can't justify dropping $300+ for one game. Hell I'm not even liking it all that much and I'm feeling like Premium was a total waste.

Well if you use BF4 as your scale sure, but BF4 runs pretty poorly.

that was the entire point of the conversation, that bf4 is badly optimized and should run better than it does even on less than high-end hardware :v:
The loading times are what gets me.
Man the DLC's are expensive. Are they worth it?
On the topic of video cards, I had my second 580 die after RMAing my first one to EVGA and this time they're sending me a GTX 760 Superclocked with the ACX cooler on it. Pretty cool of them to bump me up 2 series. I've been considering buying another 760 to go with it and run SLI, any opinions?
