It's only a OHK on a headshot or upper chest on non-Defensive users. According to some tweet it's underpowered by design so they won't be changing it anytime soon; that plus it's a primary weapon so you're 95% useless. So no, it's nowhere near as cool as the xbow (which was the best weapon in all of vidya until the Rorsch came around imo).
It's still cool as hell though :v:
There's a case to be made for novel weapons that don't compete with the rest of the weapon roster, just to toy around. We've already got a shitload of different guns and I don't see why DICE has to upset the balance every time they introduce something new.
So the bow is premium only?
Weird, the phantom initiate assignment has stopped tracking my explosive kills. Progress doesn't even show up at the end of the round.
I really don't understand the balance for the bow. It is super slow and difficult to aim, why is it weaker than every sniper rifle
I think average life expectancy is a tad bit too small in the game.
I can stay alive for quite long, provided I pick my battles, constantly check the map for enemies, and know when to back off. Learn to do those things and you should be good.

Even with assault rifles and no camping?
So the bow is premium only?
Yeah you need to do all the Phantom Assignments before you can access it.

Have DICE mentioned anything about the bow being unlockable in some other way? I really don't want to spend hours looking for tiny boxes in enormous maps just to get a gimmicky weapon, and not having everything unlocked will drive me insane

Camping will get you killed quite quickly; this isn't CoD
Planting C4 in tactical spots around the MCom is one of the easiest ways to pad your K/D

Depends on where and how you camp but even then proper camping isn't easy. Eventually you'll have to move.

Exactly, this is the game where a tank can drive over an unsuspecting camper at any time.

Yes but you will not get any better at the game.
What fun is a game without progress?
Add me to friends pals: euphetar

But that's completely wrong
Aside from a recent dip because "muh phantom dogtag" I've actually been doing fairly well. Just wanted to spice things up
What fun is a game without fun?
Just got a quadruple and a triple UCAV kill on some scrubs camping the Hainan C rooftop B)
Also I played a few rounds with a non-premium friend, holy crap the new maps are so much better than vanilla
The bow is so hilariously bad, I can do better with a suppressed CS5 than that thing.
Is mortar even worth the unlock or should I just worry about getting better MGs? Type 88 does me fine so far but MG4 appears to be the god cannon given how many times I've been shafted by it.
Also I swear DICE saw this scene and decided "yep this is how operation locker needs to be"

To this day I cannot understand how people can enjoy Op.Locker and Metro.
It's such an uncontrolled clusterfuck of chaos.

It's under powered by design.
I mostly put it down to clusterfuck = easy kills
But it seems like the most unplayable stalemate maps are favourites across a lot of MP games. If the frontline doesn't move you can bet your ass you're gonna be playing that map on loop for a while.
A lot of maps in BF4 are generally way too cluttered for my liking. The simplicity of maps in BF2, 2142 and BC2 were spot on. Not too much going on but a fair balance of cover/concealment.
Ever since BF3 I thought that it can't get worse then Battlelog.
It got worse. I just hate how to join a server you have to close the game even if it's already running.
Loading any game takes up to 5 minutes.
You don't though. If you join a new server while the game is running, the game will stay open and connect you to the new server.
You don't though. If you join a new server while the game is running, the game will stay open and connect you to the new server.
For me it doesn't. Instead the game doesn't react and battlelong says "there was an error, try restarting the game"
Is mortar even worth the unlock or should I just worry about getting better MGs? Type 88 does me fine so far but MG4 appears to be the god cannon given how many times I've been shafted by it.
The M240B is great, and is unlocked just before the MG4 (which is a 800rpm powerhouse). I suggest you unlock all the MGs, or at the very least get to the PKP Pecheneg
Also, the mortar is pretty much used to harass, not kill. The most damage per shell is 80hp, altough that does not stop you from getting multikills. It also damages tanks, which is pretty awesome
The bow is so hilariously bad, I can do better with a suppressed CS5 than that thing.
that's the point!

If you play in a hardcore server the mortar is a one hit kill.

reminder that the game was never balanced around hardcore
Hardcore is most fun though
I prefer classic over the rest.
Hardcore is most fun though
I can't take your posts seriously anymore, not after this
I prefer Hardcore servers. Makes you much more cautious about what you do since you die easier, and can get hit by friendly fire. It also makes hiding easier since you won't have an orange arrow above your head if someone manages to spot you (Arrows still show up on the map though). >edited for spelling<
