So over the last few months I've been playing the game where you delete random things from your hard drive every day so that you don't run out of space. I kept thinking to myself "How the fuck did I fill up a 1TB drive so fast". Today I ran one of those tools that visually shows how much space every file takes up in the system. Whoops. I guess I forgot about that folder.

How the tits are people able to track you so easily in a dogfight with the machine gun?
If you bind pitch up to spacebar or something it becomes a hell of a lot easier to maintain the tightest turn. Then, once you get close enough just fine tune the aim with the mouse and that's a kill.
I went to Air Superiority for a bit to try and learn. I learned the best controls for flying there (Pitch up to Spacebar included), and have what I think is a good setup. But the most important thing I learned is Air Superiority is fucking bullshit for learning how to fight.
I really ought to learn flying with mouse since its easier to aim that way
Anyone else here who is nearly done/done with the Phantom assignments and wants to do the Operative thing? I'm almost done and i have the Karelian tag.
god damn grinding to unlock the sniper rifles is so fucking slow only maybe once or twice a mission I find a good spot where I can shoot half the enemy team until some engineer manages to flank me and guns me down with a machine pistol and I can't hit worth shit, it's only by luck I manage to get even 10 kills when my first and second shots always miss

Usually supporting my squad instead of just being a useless spawn point in the middle of nowhere. 8x range scope is the highest I'll go.

Lasing targets is such a ridiculously powerful force multiplier but nobody ever does it because the Recon doesn't benefit all that much from it and loses a gadget slot. It's understandable why nobody carries it but man can it really turn a game around if you have a dedicated Recon/Engineer combo.
I lase tanks but nobody ever shoot it Then the tanks see my laser and shoot at me and I die
I guess I should actually find people to play with who would exploit it, pubs don't seem to do it

Without it it's easier to learn the bullet drops and speeds of the snipers. If you need more zoom then just use the 8x scope.

Camp the restaraunt top area (not the one with the glass floor, the one above it). I've been playing alone for long time. If someone would like to play with me add me on origin (PixelOP) I'll leave my stats here
I find that shooting at the M98B guys who hang about two kilometers behind the lines is nigh impossible with just 6x
I know it's all about preference, but I'd choose a scope with bigger magnification. I mostly play with 8x. If you want to stick with less magnification I would suggest getting closer to the enemy. But variable zoom should be abandoned. When BF4 came out, I was really happy they included the variable zoom. But after a while I noticed I wasn't getting any headshots with 14x. I was already so used to the 8x scope and got more hits with just that. It's pretty much all about the dots in the reticle. The bullet doesn't (obviously) drop to the same dot at 14x as it does with 8x. And this is the reason why you shouldn't use the variable zoom. Couple of other sniping tips: Only prone, if you're being shot at and you know you will be in cover completely after you prone. Stand up and shoot from behind a cover and duck (or prone) if you need cover. Keep moving a little all the time when you're not aiming and shooting. Don't stay aiming too long. You're a much easier target because you move slowly and your field of view is really tiny. Use the straight pull bolt. Always. Never use bipod. Never. Except when you're feeling lazy and want to be the guy on top of the carrier attacking on Paracel Storm Rush and getting 500m headshot and topping the list with 5k more points than the second in your team. :v: On to my own sniping: Lately I've been playing a sneaky front line recon with the ACOG 4x and a silencer quite a lot. I got one >600m headshot with the JNG-90. With the ACOG and the silencer. It was a sitting target but I'm pretty proud of it anyway. Only took like three shots to get it right.
The only time I ever get sniper kills is in duels - brought on by me being angry about getting sniped as engi all the time. Also I use an xbox controller for flying, I do well with it.

I usually switch to 14x only when an enemy sniper is trying to get me from far.
I use variable zoom all the time and it only increases my efficiency. It's the switching I'm against. :P It's like when you play with one mouse sensitivity for a long time and then you get a new mouse and might feel completely different if you don't set it right. (Possibly a bad comparison...)
3.4x ACOG with candted sights DMR ftw
Skip the canted and get the Target detector. Auto spots enemies (and those pesky snipers you want to counter) and then take a good side arm for close range. That is FTW
What is the preferred sniper here? I love the SRR-61.
What is the preferred sniper here? I love the SRR-61.
SRR-61 + straight bolt = rape
Also, you'd think getting only 20 kills in a jet would be easy enough. NOPE
Gol Magnum is my favorite.
Also, you'd think getting only 20 kills in a jet would be easy enough. NOPE
I just rammed people, i suck at jets so aerial combat wasn't an option for me. How many Phantom assignments you done with?
I just rammed people, i suck at jets so aerial combat wasn't an option for me. How many Phantom assignments you done with?
I'm only on the second one. I managed to get a fantastic run with an attack jet (There was literally no other jets around for the longest time) and murdered a handful of tanks, only needing 9 kills now. It's not the flying bit that kills me, it's the other ace pilots that can outmaneuver the fuck out of me. After that, it's 2x shotgun ribbons in a round but I can probably get that in 1 round of dedicated Operation Locker.
Awesome, you should hit me up on Origin so we can squad up and do some rounds. I'm on the third (last you need to activate the elevator) assignment, just LMG kills left then I'm gonna start looking for folks that wants to get the bow with me. [editline]8th January 2015[/editline] Same name as here by the way.
