i literally cant hit shit, even though im aiming dead on the person. it feels like everyone has laserguns except for me.

lets just put the spawnpoint ON the bomb locations. yup this is good map design.
I got oneshotted by a P226.

Like a headshot kind of deal or just he probably fired a million rounds on his screen but netcode made it look like a single shot?
so, still no clue on what the specifics are for that veteran battlepack?
'cuz i have 3 veteran status, while my friend has 2, and he got the battlepack, but i haven't yet..
Ah, sever queue finally works.

The latter. I unload into him at point blank getting 0 hitmarks then I just die before any damage indicators pop up.

:( Dice..fix things plz
Honestly I'm pretty disapointed with this game

if they would stop sucking EA's dick they could put the netcode to server based instead of client based, then the like half second delay would disapear, but no, having it client based makes it harder to pirate "apparently".

I got up to the SRR-61 in about a night of playing or so. The real bitch is getting the FY-JS because of all those bullshit ribbons.
If anyone in the military knows, we'd be some stacked motherfuckers right now, fucking custom stars and shit to be put on or ribbon to show how many times we were awarded it.
if they would stop sucking EA's dick they could put the netcode to server based instead of client based, then the like half second delay would disapear, but no, having it client based makes it harder to pirate "apparently".
I'm no netcode expert, but I don't think it's as easy as "make it server based". If I'm not mistaken, doing so has severe drawbacks which explains why most FPS games have client-side hit detection.
Unless you're referring to something else?
The only time I have fun in this game is if I'm in vehicles. If I play infantry I just find myself complaining about netcode and hit detection and weapon balance.
I would like to just stop playing for like a month and wait for all the shit to be ironed out but I find myself coming back thinking "No, It'll be different this time! I'm going to have fun!"
So I bought this game and premium because disposable income. Originally I wasn't going to buy it because the game has been going downhill.
It is Battlefield 3.5. It is certainly everything that BF3 SHOULD have been, but it's still missing something.
I have some gripes too. I absolutely cannot play softcore, everyone is an absolute bullet sponge. It ruins the immersion a bit when I'm shelling an infanteer with a 50 cal on a tank and they just run off into the trees. I would have thought they'd have gone back to their roots and got rid of 3d spotting (but you can still filter for games that have that off I think... someone confirm that)
But hardcore turns the game into Sniperfield and it's a literal death simulation. Spawning in and dying is a repeating thing, and when I flick through the squads at the beginning I see so many little recon icons, at least 70-80% of the team is a recon. There are no medics. There are no support classes. I was literally the only support class amongst two other medics on a 32 man match. The rest of the team were snipers.
I'm glad they are fixing the crashing and bugs and stuff, but fucking god, hardcore needs serious balancing, give people a reason to play the medic and support classes, I can't even remember the last time I saw an engineer on a HC match.
I just hope this game gets better. It's more of a twitch shooter now. Call of Duty is a twitch shooter. Not Battlefield.

whatever that youtuber whos a massive fanboy for battlefield said he played bf3 alpha and LOVED the game, there was zero to no lag at all and was shown with server side and caters to people who actually have a good connection (which in the beta it was flipped). the only downside is that higher than average ping means youre going to play like shit, and there is more server load meaning more cost for said servers. It saves ea and dice money while enforcing drm.
overall the netcode is abysmal to the point that i wish they would somehow get someone else to do it.
So anybody got pictures of the 40x scope? I feel actually useful spotting targets and headshotting enemy spotters now that I have the tools but 8x-14x scope is not enough. Also the best overall long range sniper is the unlockable with the assignment that looks like the first rifle you have but slightly varied. Bullet speed and minimal drop on the bf4 chart showed me that.
Now I know why that one needs 50 ribbons for which you need to headshot someone from 250m atleast.
I got up to the SRR-61 in about a night of playing or so.
Teach me your ways master
No seriously, any tips on getting that unlock?
I'm liking my P90, got first on my Team with it.
Honestly I'm pretty disapointed with this game
I'm just dissapointed with the state of the release...and seeing some bugs that were in and patched out of BF3 confuses me.
Like the crazy turbulance that you get in jets where it's barely flyable and almost impossible to aim, I remember that being a problem in early release BF3 but was patched out. Now I see it in BF4...wth?

The turbulence comes from your jet rubber-banding thanks to lag/shit netcode
Was playing on Flood Zone earlier today when I happen to find the M82 on the highway. Thought "Yeah I'll have some fun with this for a little while.", but nope.
The fucking thing had a 40x scope on it. Even looking from our side of the map to the other, it was still way too zoomed in to keep track of any targets without having to pull it away from my eye to see the target I was trying to shoot.
Is the attachment just random on each map?
Also I had about 4 REALLY good games using sniper rifles, and each one crashed. The 5th one that I played didn't crash, but I didn't really get anything done at all. Really hope that fix for the server crashes comes out soon.
[editline]weeeeeeeeeeee[/editline]
One last story.
Yesterday I was playing on Paracel Storm early in the morning. Around half way through the match, the storm finally started to come in. When it started getting really loud, and really stormy, my power all of the sudden went out.
Gave me a good laugh for a minute.

I'm fairly certain that's not how it work, server-side hit-detection isn't some magical solution to the fact that we're pretty much playing the game a few milisecond in the past.
Server-side hit detection has more than one drawback, depending on whether or not there's client-side prediction. If you have server-side hit detection, it means that on a game like Battlefield: Bad Company 2 where there's client-side prediction, you'll have bullets "registering" on your screen as a headshot (blood spurt, flinch on the enemy) but since that enemy might have moved-on according to the server, and it's the one calling the shots (literally) it will tell your machine "sorry, no hits".
If you DON'T have client-side prediction (like Red Orchestra 2 had at lauch), you'll see your bullets have a slight delay on them when fired because you're seeing the actual projectile from the server's perspective. The delay changes on the ping, so you can work with this if you're used to a certain ping (like quake players in the old days did with 300 ping) but it still means you're at the mercy of the server's whims regardless of your ping.
There is literally no game that has a perfect solution to ping, just workarounds and compromises. Every game I've ever played that was a FPS I've seen someone at some point complain about it having a "terrible netcode". These people don't know what netcode is.
So I prefer client-side, because at least I can trust my bullets. You still have the advantage with a lower ping because if you turn a corner, you'll see the enemy before they can see you.
Frostbite is actually a very advanced engine. It knows when you are doing really good and having a good game, then it crashes.

It's got variable zoom.
The only thing I think needs more damage are the MG Emplacements, I can't seem to do any damage with them. I rather just use my gun.
On the topic of hit-detection, I reckon its great at the moment, I don't die behind corners people die when I shoot them etc.
I don't understand why so many people are having so many problems.

Built in Left 4 Dead AI Director.
So I was driving around with a tank.
Two enemy tanks came around, I killed the other by actually ramming the tank (roadkill) after softening it up with the normal rounds, and finished the other who also got softened by my engineer mate, and me ramming the shit out of him as well.
I hope they add a compass to hardcore mode. Kind of hard to coordinate without one.

except dice has never had really good netcode period with the massive amount of lag for hits to ever register and it is extremely obvious to everyone. even planetside 2 didnt have a full second of lag for hits to register at 25-50 ping and thats with hundreds of shots being fired at once. all my games today have been shots that i get markers for, but they kill me in what appears to be instantly.
So am I the only one that thinks different vehicles having different sensitivity is gamebreaking
If I set my sensitivity for the tank gun I can't aim transport heli guns and vice versa

oh no i agree, and to me its impossible to fly jets because i have to constantly fucking act like i am having a seizure to keep mousing up, when people who use a controller just have to hold it up/down.
