they did in BF3, but now they're all 1x. In BF3, p sure holo sights were 2x [editline]5th November 2013[/editline] or atleast 1.5x
The holo sight circles are good for keeping your cone of fire centered. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/17736620/coyote_vs_rds.jpg But as far as visibility goes, Coyote can't be beat. Also, I was interested in whether or not horizontal recoil had a pattern that could be compensated, so I made a DLL that logs the result of Frostbite's uniform random function with the BF3 FAMAS recoil values as input. X axis is the shots fired, Y is recoil. Conclusion: Good luck.

I somewhat understand charts and graphs, but what the fuck am I even looking at here?
I unlocked the 25mm specially because ordinary minigun is a joke. And it still does jack shit. Is it normal for a full burst to leave a LAV with 85-75 hp? I don't think so. Same for infantry, you have to hit them directly to kill, splash damage is nothing. Also remember the shit hit detection. Littlebirds already have next to none armor, so they should have more damage or else it's a big and expensive MAV.
Honestly I'm fine with the Littlebirds where they are. They always seemed weirdly good in BF3 anyway, and I'm saying this as someone who spends a lot of time flying in Battlefield games. The miniguns tear up soft targets like they should, and don't damage armor, which they really shouldn't. The only weirdness is that it takes more hits to kill infantry than in BF3, but once I got used to the new handling I was able to kill infantry just fine. If there's something I would change if I had to buff them somehow, it would be to make them a little less susceptible to damage from miniguns because they are now everywhere in BF4. Other than that, I think they're fine. Would I like the miniguns to do more damage? I guess, but that's my biased pilot speaking. From a balance point of view, don't think it's necessary. I don't have the 25mm yet, so I can't comment on it. As for stealth jets, I completely agree. They are garbage and need a buff of some kind.
I somewhat understand charts and graphs, but what the fuck am I even looking at here?
FAMAS has the measles.
I somewhat understand charts and graphs, but what the fuck am I even looking at here?
BF3 and 4 use a random range for horizontal recoil. I simulated the horizontal recoil for 500 rounds from the BF3 FAMAS and made a scatter plot in which the X axis is the sample number (or shots fired) and the Y axis is how many degrees to the left/right is would kick, with left being negative. You can see that the points are nearly completely evenly distributed, meaning that the recoil is very close to unbiased randomness.
So, no skill, only luck?
I feel like little birds regardless of weapon choice are very powerful right now. I'm already working on my second service star and I don't even have an hour in it They also dominate most games I play if the pilot is good.
So, no skill, only luck?
Not exactly, since recoil is cumulative until you let go of the trigger you could still somewhat compensate for it since it would have a tendency to kick to the upper-right. Guns with equal side-to-side recoil would indeed have a complete random kick.

And as to the horizontal recoil, I noticed that with the AEK when I was trying it out. Vertical recoil is extremely easy to control, but the horizontal recoil basically makes it swim side to side. [editline]5th November 2013[/editline] I still prefer the SAR-21 or the AUG-A3 though. The CZ-805 is growing on me too.
No weapons give me as much satisfaction as the pistols and shotguns. I feel lame using an automatic rifle or pdw. I guess I keep playing pistol only in hardcore while others spray n pray.
I want to buy BF4, but server issues are worrying me. In BF3 I could play SP on High with 30-40 FPS, no issues. MP dipped at time if there was a lot on screen. With that in mind, will I be able to play BF4 on high? Also, In BF3 MP, after the 2nd DLC released I couldn't play MP anymore. The server would disconnect me after 1-5 minutes of playing, or if I got passed that disconnect issues the game would CTD when changing map. Any chance these problems could continue over to BF4? I don't want to fork out £40 and have it wasted
I've got extreme lag issues in BF4, everything as low as possible and 1280x720. Anything higher than that and I get lag. I'm on an i5 2500k, gtx 460 and 4gb ram. The game shouldn't run as badly as it does.
Yeah I5 2500k, 8gb ram, 6950HD. Runs somewhat alright on medium. Depends what map. I could run High some Ultra settings on BF3.
Had to run all low on BF3 as well, but I could run it at 1920x1200. How do they even manage to make the game so un-optimized

I see people with lower specs running the game better.
I am running it full ultra totally perfect, i5 3.3ghz hd7950 and 8gb ram. Ram and gpu save your ass here.
I see people with lower specs running the game better.
Imo its much much more optimized, this game runs on ultra with my 670, 8gigs of ram, latest i5, with max resolution on ultra with steady 60-50 fps with little studdering or crashing mid game. Meanwhile bf3 ran like shit with the same settings with like 20-30 fps and massive studdering. It will be fixed hopefully when more drivers come out.

You're LITERALLY running the BARE MINIMUM requirements for RAM. I have a GTX275 and 8 gigs of RAM and I run the game pretty smoothly (50-60 fps). It's not BF4 being unoptimized (not in this case), it's about your system having a fucking horrifying bottleneck.
Yeah I really should get some more ram... [editline]5th November 2013[/editline] I'm still used to people saying "4gb is more than enough", but that might have been a few years ago, haha.

[editline]5th November 2013[/editline] I'm still used to people saying "4gb is more than enough", but that might have been a few years ago, haha.
Ram is always a cheap/inexpensive upgrade that you should do every like 2-4 years
And as to the horizontal recoil, I noticed that with the AEK when I was trying it out. Vertical recoil is extremely easy to control, but the horizontal recoil basically makes it swim side to side.
Horizontal recoil is the epitome of artifical difficulty. Vertical recoil is the way to go - make it kick hard, maybe even make a bit unpredictable. That way people are forced to burst-fire naturally, and only those who feel comfortable controlling the recoil will fire extended bursts. Kinda sorta like NC weapons feel in Planetside 2, example for how to make it work. But nope. People complain about lazer guns? Sure sure, here, have this unpredictable uncontrollable half-assed pattern. Happy now~ wait, we don't hear you over the sound of all this money.
So I just had my first run in with a hacker... Who converted a fucking Rex Revolver into the SRAW. Don't ask how, I do not know for the life of me.
Ram is always a cheap/inexpensive upgrade that you should do every like 2-4 years
Yeah, and now 16GB of RAM is the new 8GB.
Isnt the minimum requirements like 600 series with 8 gigs of ram? Youre kinda a gen behind :v:.
I can't speak for the full game, but the Beta ran great for me with a 500 series nvidia card.

Windows 8 sorted the problem for me with my i5 2500 and 670 oc'd, it's ridiculous I know just upgrading an OS for a game.. Also, this game runs better for AMD cards than it does for nvidia apparently, so I'd expect better performance eventually [editline]5th November 2013[/editline]
Isnt the minimum requirements like 600 series with 8 gigs of ram? Does this shit actually make a difference?
