This happens in every lag compensated game ever, and the other guy could've landed that shot with low latency too
If it was JUST lag compensation, it would've been mutual kill, and that does indeed happen in this game a lot. But you clearly see that shot made by whoever-recorded-this didn't ever register, despite being dead on.

He certainly didn't think it all the way through. But he had best intentions to show who really screwed players over (not like we needed evidence to know that anyway), and that wasn't DICE QA team. I don't think he deserves any punishment. Anyone could've fucked up like that.

Bullets aren't instant, and he was moving as the shot was fired.
Being killed while having ducked behind cover half a second prior is normal though. It's either your 200 ping, or theirs. It's really annoying when a full second has passed from when you ducked behind cover and you still get killed
playing against a commander who knows that emp destroys tomahawks is just aint fun
I seem to crash a lot on Shanghai, but other maps I can play fine. Anyone else experiencing this?
I seem to crash a lot on Shanghai, but other maps I can play fine. Anyone else experiencing this?
Me and the group I play with have also encountered the same thing. The tower collapse is a guaranteed crash for all but one of us but the map in general seems to trigger client crashes more often. Also load times seem noticeably longer on Shanghai as well.
I seem to crash a lot on Shanghai, but other maps I can play fine. Anyone else experiencing this?
I get a hard crash on Hainan's loading screen around 70% of the time on 360. Shanghai seems fine for me, although I've heard that triggering the skyscraper collapse can cause it.
Damn, I've been playing BF3 for the last couple days, and I've been tearing it up. I don't know what's going on but I like it. :P

Yeah. I can play other maps (on rush) and not crash at all, but as soon as I go on shanghai on any gamemode I crash after a few minutes.
Great, keep getting a PnkBstrA problem.
This is why we can't have nice things.
No matter how hard you can try to safeguard and pad what you say, it is always a guarantee that someone will find a way to misinterpret and sensationalize what is said in order to tell a story.
It is obvious that EA was trying to beat COD on a release date, and its evident that it is a very important thing to them. They sent the ship that wasn't completed out into the oceanic storm, with the expectation that the bilge pumps will keep it afloat. I still believe it should have been delayed a few months, and released in December or somewhere around there.
But this idiocy:
EA pushed Battlefield 4 through quality control to beat Call of Duty
Oh, because quality control and playtesting is something you only do at the end of development. Aside from, you know, testing the code in parallel to development from beginning to end. Giant lie slapped right on the headline. You can tell this is going to be a good read.
It is so fucking sensationalist and dumb that I can't even comprehend how someone lacks the moral capacity to write and publish this. It spews out lies and slander, all just so that people will read it and hop on the Anti-EA-Lynching-Fanclub.
Beside the fact that few people read past the headline, the rest of the article constructed in such a way where it will fuel you up and anger you by listing the big bugs that affected you, in an attempt to throw your rationality away and your common sense aside. It misinterprets and paraphrases the conversation at every curve, causing a big deal over analogies that were used to express something else.
It’s the kind of bugs that are picked up in testing, but only when you have time to properly test the game.
This is especially fucking frustrating, which the QA guy even explained properly, what he was trying to mean with this. He was saying that it is impossible to test something enough, when it gets so complex that it becomes calculable and graphed with a measure of man-hours. It comes to a point that even throughout the entire development session, it will be a drop in the water compared to when it reaches public eyes. On release day, there will be more exposure to the game, than there ever was in the entire development timeline.
It's because of the man-hour cliff that the QA team has to play it smart. You need a plan and a system on how to test, and you need to know what you are testing in order to get a good idea on what to search for. You can't compare a massive-scale manhunt (which is what release becomes), to the comparably small and methodical testing the QA team does.
This article spews out lies about how a game is developed, how EA handles development, and worst of all, how the QA team handles testing development. It is so frustrating to see this, because I know that the EA guys are going to see this article, and start an internal audit to see who posted this, who will be punished in some way or form, for purely showing his love for the game by explaining and clarifying what is going on.
Just a quick question. Is BF4 worth buying for the PC? I know it sounds like a stupid question, but, I wanna hear what other peoples opinions are. I'm considering bout buying the game.

Most of the time (especially through companies like EA) when you want to talk to someone you're talking through a third party who's contracted with EA who has no idea what it is you're even talking about half of the time.
The difference is that this guy is a Q/A dude that works with DICE and not EA. If it was EA then you'd get the typical shpeil that it's your fault for not having the same computer the developers do, etc.
At least they're trying. That's better than Call of Duty (who we all know will never be patched. ever)

honestly it's REALLY solid. the gameplay isn't anything super fresh since the game is literally just a copy of BF3 with more "wow factor" to it but that doesn't really take away from the game at all because it's a really solid experience.
with that being said, though, unless you're super lucky the game is really difficult to play right now. there seems to be a stuttering problem that makes the game almost unplayable for some of us (like myself) and it's pointless to even try playing until it's patched
Just a quick question. Is BF4 worth buying for the PC? I know it sounds like a stupid question, but, I wanna hear what other peoples opinions are. I'm considering bout buying the game.
It really depends, I have been having a relatively ok experience compared to some. People crashing out of games constantly or servers crashing to the sound bugs and netcode problems.
Apart from those things, I am having a good time playing. Those problems are not really big for me so I am actually able to enjoy the game.
If you have the money to spare and enjoy battlefield then you could probably pick it up and have a good time. But if you would rather wait a few more weeks until some of the major bugs get ironed out then you should do that.
I've worked for EA QA this summer and let me tell you, the guys had one week before sending off a build to MS for certification and the game still had major bugs and crashes. I seriously don't know what BF QA did all this time, but it hasn't been good.
A friend I made while in the company was working on BF and he said half the time their builds on consoles wouldn't work or something else would come up and they could not test. Also I haven't actually seen any "real-World" testing for BF while I was there. I've only seen "persistance" testing, where the unlocks would be tested and such.
Meh. On the other hand, FIFA 14 QA team, which I was on for two months really did it's job. Though shitty devs didn't want to fix some of the more serious bugs.
I won't comment anything on NFS RIVALS, beside that I was there for one month and bugs that have been found since the earliest builds (btw, nfs rivals went through two major iterations before setteling in on NFS Rivals. NFS Showdown and Hot Pursuit 2 were called.) haven't been fixed yet, and there were only two months until release date.

I had this.
To solve it I downloaded this:

Installed it, restarted origin and made sure that no firewalls were on, it all works again.
How do you even unlock the carbines, dmrs, and shotguns. I have 0 progress on each of the categories.
How do you even unlock the carbines, dmrs, and shotguns. I have 0 progress on each of the categories.
They're unlocks for Engineer/Support/Recon, check your unlock tree, you should see them.
They're unlocks for Engineer/Support/Recon, check your unlock tree, you should see them.
Oh, there they are. I just have not played enough of the other classes yet to unlock the first one of each category. Been playing assault.
Is the green laser on the special weapons the same you get as attachments from battlepacks?
If so, that's definitely not just cosmetic. The thing is bright as fuck, I can clearly see the dot at a large distance.
Good news; server crashes have been ironed out. Bad news? The client crashes twice as much now.
I just want to play the damn game.

It will be worth playing sometime in the future, how far off that will be is anyone guess.
Personally speaking, I'd hold off and wait till it gets sorted out (just keep an eye out and you'll hear when it's turned around).
Warning, I'm about to go off track.
In the mean time I'd like to point out that BF3, is still a damn fine game. I won't lie the player base has thinned quiet a bit and the server choice is a little on the shit side, but I'd really go so far as to say BF3 is now a better game than it ever was because a lot of the assholes that ruined it have moved on.
Honestly having more fun now than I ever did, to the point I'm actually enjoying playing on maps that I've absolutely hated for over 2 years. During the 6 rounds i played tonight i had squad mates, or rather an entire team of guys who were on their shit, i never had to ask for ammo once, med packs were plentiful, every vehicle had engineers queuing up to repair and i could even count of my team to kill guys who were shooting at me. I even encountered a medic who jumped out of his tank to revive me while i was repping him and he actively maneuvered his tank to keep me alive and give me the best cover he could and the best part not a single fuck was given by either team, no one raged, no one cried hacks, it was pretty damn civilized. It's just a right fucking shame it's taken this long.
TL:DR - I'd say BF3 is actually a better game now and still worth your time.

Yeah i went back and played BF3 and it's so far superior in the gameplay department to BF4 at the moment it's not even funny.
When you shoot people, your bullets actually register which is something you get used to not happening in bf4. Maps are much bigger, not cluttered with a bunch of stupid shit, vehicles aren't just thrown onto the map to be there, there are no kill trades happening which seems to be every other death you have in bf4

the dot has nothing to do with what the laser's actually do. It gives the same bonus as the red laser and its just as bright to other's eyes

Hardcore mode disagrees.
I learned you can counter knife.
I learned this while trying to knife someone when a round was about to end after going 4-14.
I ended 4-15.
I also threw a waterbottle across the room I was so angry.
That was me when I was trying to get my dogtagger dagger back in 2142.
So much rage
It seems like BF4 runs smoother on Windows 8.1.
