Scrake and Gorefast planning their next move
Okay I just had a game where I accidentally had only a pulverizer for Hans Volter and I actually managed to fight him fairly competently. I circle strafed him while alt firing him until I was out of ammo, running away to be healed. I only finally died when I got caught in a nerve gas grenade. They do so much freaking damage.
It is absolutely possible to do a bulk of the damage on Volter with the Pulverizer. I can not overstate the amount of times that ive died or a team has died because we couldn't get the phases down fast enough. Hitting and running and making sure you use the explosive rounds each time will knock him down to at least orange. Provided you use hit and run tactics and pay absolute 100% focus into when he throws grenades and in what arc. That way even if you die, you can have someone either a Medic or a Zerker to kite around the map and do the rest of the damage. I'd arguably say that the Zerker is the second most useful class for taking down volter, the first being a half/fully leveled Medic with the raw speed.(Ask Nitronik. :v:) So fast infact that i have a specific route for him at least on all 3 maps if things go tits up. I don't bother with it however if he hasn't gotten half of his phases down. It can take upwards of 20 minutes to do so otherwise it isn't worth doing. Also another little thing. Ive noticed people healing me as the medic while i have all of the armor perks activated, usually when i have most of my health. A cool thing that i can do is siphon through damage, most of your armor back by using the Armament and Vaccination skills. Usually, (and i am Field Medic 25.) i get about 11-22 armor back from 1-2 shots by healing myself. The armor bonus helps alot with that. I can't do it when people heal me without the bonus however. [editline]13th April 2015[/editline]
Setting the corpse limit to ~75 makes a huge difference in visuals, and I don't notice any frame drops either. [t]http://i.imgur.com/EIUq27v.jpg[/t] It's pretty rad, often allows for an entire wave of enemies to be strewn across the battlefield.
If it is smooth, you could likely go much higher.
What they need to do is reduce hans health, and make the other waves beforehand tougher. Like, up spawns, or something. Because right now, I can easily solo every wave in normal and hard with one hand tied behind my back, but hans is practically impossible, because he just rips through your armor instantly with his machine guns, and tanks so much damage. I mean, I know I'm not that great at the game...but I should at least have a chance of beating him with any class.
Hans' color is very confusing as he's really goddamn tanky. You can have him bleeding all over the place with his suit glowing red and his healing phases used up, but as soon as you spit out a whole AA mag+5 grenades, you'll find out that he can still tank that shit up and in most cases, you'll find yourself with no armor because his rifles tore them apart not too long ago, causing you to die as you try to kill him with a 9mm while he's swiping you. So yeah, I think Hans needs a health nerf.
Hans should be fast as fuck instead of waddling around being a twat, and in return, be much weaker and have no invincible phases. I want him to be terrifying. Not 15 minutes of kiting and self-healing. The whole life-suck vampire thing is grotesquely obnoxious in solo and for the person being grabbed. I'd rather it be a strong melee attack (like old Scrake's chainsaw impale) and not this super fancy phrase that wastes time.
Yeah, I think I'd rather he be a glass cannon and then let another boss be more tanky, so each one has a different role and type of fight.
Has anyone tried melee-spam ala the old patty?
From what I've seen, Hans just seems overly difficult for no good reason. There's a fine line between a challenging boss fight and a nigh-impossible slugfest
I feel like in the future, everybody would just go demo and blast the shit out of hans after welding the door he'll obviously try to charge through. It'll be hilarious.

Maybe have it trigger whenever you'd done a third of his health, and then heal a sixth or something else less than what you did.
I feel like in the future, everybody would just go demo and blast the shit out of hans after welding the door he'll obviously try to charge through. Should i feel bad i pirated the beta... Al tho i'll buy it the moment it is avalible for purchase (User was banned for this post ("Admitting to warez" - Craptasket))
i'll pretend i didn't see you post that and hope you snip your post. It's a tough wait but idk just play the first one for now although having tried both they're pretty different. I like how the combat shotgun is better now but I also don't like how you can't go into sights directly from a reload with the normal shotgun. It improved usability a lot.
snip.
really, it's only 30 bucks.
I have it. It's just not available for purchase yet. And i want to play. And i can't wait. I Have No Purchase Option and I Must Play

-never mind-
Oh, I fucked up, I thought you meant 'when it was on sale' further, after it came out. my bad.
That's why i changed the word from "Sale" to "Purchase" my poor choice of words. Sorry~! It's all good. But yea, from my experience. It's pretty awesome (Altho i'm forced to playing on hard and solo.. And always die on the 3rd or 4th wave) I REALLY love the gun feedback in KF2. They sound mean, feel mean, and does mean things to the faces of Clots and other things. My only problem is... Somehow shotguns feel weaker then assault rifles. Maybe it's just me going nuts.
He should at least take 25-50% damage while draining someone.
He should at least take 25-50% damage while draining someone.
a guy in one of my games said he has 85% damage reduction while draining, not 100%. need input from a dev.
He just heals until full health anyway. Shooting him would only delay it. If anything there should be a way to cancel it early, or a clearer way to avoid it happening at all.
It could be possible that Hans will get much easier when more perks come out. If the Sharp and Demo weapons are anything like KF1, they'll add a lot of firepower to the team. Think about the Patriarch when KF1 first launched to now; the only classes effective against him were Sharp and Support, but now every class has powerful weapons to use against him.
I think you should be able to damage him while he's draining life, and if your team deals enough he gets stunned, or cuts his life drain attack short.

(haven't seen this myself, but many reports of it happening)
makes sense considering how gimped zerker is on the boss.
Hopefully they'll let us pick grenade types later. Healing nades and such are cool, but sometimes you need some high explosive frags.

From my normal mode scrubbing (trying to get to level 10 before going to hard) Hans goes down super quick if you got 2 supports with AA12s and 2 Medics. Other classes not as important. Also my current support loadout is pretty great; I sell my shotgun to buy the double barrel, and then buy AA12 after wave 4. Then I fill the last slot with the medic pistol for the Hans fight.
Zerker grenade also stops red, upset Fleshpounds - resetting them to yellow.
Also disrupts Hans' health drain apparently.
