Those are all placeholders for what i can see.
Although no doubt we will see a Greatsword.
All I know is with secondary equipment being placed on your back or whatever, fashion souls potential is through the fucking roof.
the original greatsword was much better than the massive slab of anime metal they turned it into for 2
Hopefully this time we won't have a million anime greatswords larger then your character. Back to the real and gritty weapons that looks so good in motion and play.

This fucking hammer
Do you take extra damage while using Estus in Dark Souls II? Many Time's I've died after my health has gone well above the damage I actually took.

Souls has always had fuck-off huge weapons. It's practically a staple since berserk inspired the series.

The first thing I noticed in the screenshots is that he has a shield and sword equipped but a sword on his back too.
Which tells me your secondary weapons show up on your model too, that's cool as fuck.

Hope they put more effort into it and you'll actually have sheaths to put them in instead of having a magnet on your back. Wishful thinking really.

I don't know, I actually prefer any weapon mounted on the back to be naked. I'd prefer if there was a strap or two, though, just to hold it in place.

those statues look straight out of bloodborne
those statues look straight out of bloodborne
There were a few screenshots/concept art that looked like it was meant for Bloodborne.
If anything the bleeding glowing sun-like thing in one of the previously posted pictures looked like it belonged to bloodborne the most
after all the shit you go through i wouldn't be surprised
those statues look straight out of bloodborne
I think this looks distinctly more like ds1 then bloodborne because of the health and stamina bars though (plus the quick inventory) I wouldn't be surprised if the hud elements changed a lot

Sarcasm.
But in Dark Souls, the majority of the over sized weapons were swung in believable ways and showed they had weight. Despite how silly lots of weapons were, they way thew were used was believable (mostly). Dark Souls 2 had the problem of giant weapons that swung faster then small weapons.
Probably my favorite change in SotFS.

You can now see Velstadt guarding Vendrick's chamber when you're in his memories.
YES welp there's my E3 made I'm very exite also does anyone else get a couple of Bloodborne vibes at that foresty looking area?
I was not really hyped for a new Dark Souls, I feel like they should move on with a different universe or really spice it up with something else. Despite being a huge fan of Dark Souls 2, I feel like they should create something new but unlike Bloodborne, basically the same gameplay as Dark Souls.
Regardless now that I heard all those changes, I'm looking forward to the game. Seems like they want to change a couple of things here and there. It also reminds me of Demon's Souls a lot.

I'd be welcome to some change after they finish the Dark Souls story. Wouldn't want to leave it off at DS2 which makes it obvious that's not the end.
Especially with the newer ending
I hope they get rid of the cycle theme or add a major twist to it. It's somewhat lame being able to predict how the story will unfold with all the knowledge that we gained in previous Dark Souls games, I just want to dive into the world and experience something new akin to Bloodborne except with the Dark Souls 2 gameplay mechanics.
Well that's kinda how a story with multiple entries works. They're going to have one overarching story or goal, which the cycle is the big one.

The Lord of the Rings books would be super weird if the plot was totally different with the third book.
By the looks of it, I'd say the newer ending was the canon one with how fucked shit looks in some screenshots. Then again, that'll never be directly proven.
What I'm about to talk about is less about a specific Souls game and more about the multiplayer mechanics associated with all of them, but I feel like the MMO genre could drag itself out of the current rut if it got rid of the notion of having a ton of people on a single server and instead embraced a more Souls-like design philosophy, permitting a choice of balance between isolation, invasion and invitation.
In many online RPGs, the game seemingly emphasizes that you are the only one who can save the world, while saying it to you and thousands of other people, which breaks the immersion somewhat. It can even go so far as seeing a dirty dozen dancing dwarven druids breaking the immersion in Ironforge as you wander around and realise that you're just another wannabe adventurer and not a significant force in your world. To remedy such a problem, that is where the philosophies of the Souls games come in.
Imagine the Fallout universe, where realistically the wastes are so vast and wild and empty that you'd be unlikely to see loads of people outside of the small communities that peppered New California back during the days of the Vault-Dweller. People have speculated about the concept of a Fallout MMO, and given the nature of a post-apocalyptic wasteland it would not make any sense to see a hundred punks with pink mohawks (or even just five) going to the same guy to turn in a generic quest. However, consider the nature of the PiP-Boy and its radio functions, then imagine if you could use it to track and/or communicate with other PiP-Boys. In theory, across the vastness of the wasteland, you could receive transmissions from other survivors, meet up to travel together for some jolly cooperation, or even hunt down certain individuals for the bounty on their head or their bottles of Nuka-Cola.
Other than the concept of actively tracking people down, this is pretty much how the Souls games handle both co-op and PvP, without simulating dozens of Chosen Undead or Hunters in the same area. Often, if you never call in others or you're lucky enough to not be invaded, you are completely alone in this foreboding world of fantastical/eldritch horror, with the occasional spectre or bloodstain to remind you that while you are a force of change in this reality, there are others in your place in other universes, fighting the same fight in a Boletaria/Lordran/Drangleic/Yharnam much like yours but kept separate by the walls of reality. It is, at least most of the time, YOUR choice whether or not to reach out to others, rather than have them be there all of the time and be forced to contend with some boorish bounder who looted the chest that YOU were trying to get to.
What I'm trying to say is that MMOs could benefit from being less like a megaserver-based open world and instead be more like Dark Souls. Tired of seeing dozens of obnoxious adventurers all around, reminding you of how little your actions truly matter? Well having hubs like Firelink Shrine where it's just you and some NPCs can help you feel like you have more of an impact when there aren't many other people around. And if you want to find a group or play with friends, you could search for summoning signs or put down one of your own if you want to find others like yourselves for a hearty round of jolly cooperation. In addition, if you wanted to fight other players you could search for uncouth blackguards, wayward travellers or worthy opponents for a good old-fashioned extradimensional invasion, entering the player's world to confront and hopefully destroy them. These kinds of mechanics are great in Souls-likes, but I doubt there is any real thing stopping developers from taking note and making their own non-standard MMOs that dial back the massive crowds and make player interactions more meaningful and intimate, as you choose whether to wander alone, partner up with another fellow Wanderer, or hunt others like yourself.

It's still undeniable that Dark Souls 2 rehashed the plot of the first game in such a blunt manner without any delicacy or adding much new things. The constant references felt extremely cheap most of the time.
