It's still undeniable that Dark Souls 2 rehashed the plot of the first game in such a blunt manner without any delicacy or adding much new things. The constant references felt extremely cheap most of the time.
Uh... But the plot wasn't rehashed? At all? DS1 focused on the cycle of the flame, DS2 focused on the people involved, the power struggles, etc.

The great lords had extremely interesting backstories. All the characters you met during your journey had also a nice twist to them and were just engaging. They also felt more alive and moved around, minding their own business. I don't see how Dark Souls 1 did not focus on characters as well. Dark Souls 2 sure has some characters but they all feel relatively flat compared to the first game. The story of Vendrick and Nashandra is perhaps the most interesting and unique thing that I really enjoyed.

Hopefully with Miyazaki back in the saddle, DS3 will bring it back.

Every From Software game has it's own strengths and weaknesses.
I just hope there's proper co-op.

That bleeding sun in the first image has me interested in so many ways, I really can't wait to see where the story takes us.

The bad part is that they can't pull that trick anymore unless they do it again with someone important like losing the Anastasia in Firelink Shrine. Lucatiel was cool, but it felt weird the way she showed up in certain areas. She'd just be there, and didn't leave much impact unless you spoke to her to move her somewhere else. It wasn't like Solaire where each location mattered ie his spots in Lost Izalith and the Sun Altar. Also I'm digging the bleeding sun screenshot. It just screams "Worst possible future" with a hint of Stephen Gammell. Don't google his work at night.
define proper
Like not having to try and reconnect to each other after every boss and having to both advance. Like a real co-op.
Like not having to try and reconnect to each other after every boss and having to both advance. Like a real co-op.
Well coop isn't intended as something you can use reliably throughout the whole game. If you could easily coop through every area it would make the game trivially easy. I always saw coop as a thing you used when you wanted to get past a difficult boss.
Uh... But the plot wasn't rehashed? At all? In DS1, the First Flame appeared, the gods got their power, the First Flame weakened, the gods started to lose their power and panicked so Gwyn used himself as kindling to keep his kingdom going. The end choice of DS 1 was "Do you preserve this familiar terrible world or bring forth an unknown new one?" DS2 changed it to "Do you push the reset button forever or does someone else do it?"

It's more likely "You're just pushing away the imminent Age of Dark for a while and that's something stupid, i don't get why Frampt would even help them". The Emerald says cycle as a form of saying "Age of Fire will play out once again until Age of Dark will come" and Aldia considers the Age of Fire a mere illusion bounded by the curse. Like, Aldia's ending is likely the little step forward to the real Dark Souls plot since finally the main character tries to find another way and not becoming like Vendrick (and mind this was not in main game). Regardless i'm not fond of both endings in Dks1 after playing Sotfs due to the main character's directions.
Like not having to try and reconnect to each other after every boss and having to both advance. Like a real co-op.
I had a feeling you'd say that, Dark souls' coop is so unique purely because you don't know who you're going to summon (unless you're organising with a friend) amongst other things To make it more conventional would of course make it less unique, but maybe it could be easier to use

Once you connect, you can change the ring out.
Thats where the Engraved Ring comes in handy. Match with your coop partner and go. Once you connect, you can change the ring out.
You and I literally did every co-opable area like this even
We havent cleared Ivory King yet.

I'll gladly sacrifice uniqueness for convenience in this sort of situation.
Surely I'm not supposed to be taking 5 times more damage than usual from just the basic enemies in the DLC areas? With a near endgame character? I'm getting really sick of being killed in one stunlock combo if I get hit even once.
The DLCs are all around more difficult
We havent cleared Ivory King yet.
Also, what the hell's up with Old Chaos? I get that the King wanted to quarantine the mess, but was it ever needed besides a possible wink to DSI? Can we expect it to appear again in some shape or form?
Also, what the hell's up with Old Chaos? I get that the King wanted to quarantine the mess, but was it ever needed besides a possible wink to DSI? DS2 is wink to DS1 if winking involved stressing your eye socket so much it broke.
The Old Chaos was arguably the coolest section in the whole game, i'm not even made about how "REMEMBER DS1" it is.
No, but some people would really prefer a better system for when they do want to do a co-op run.
It is so annoying in the chalice dungeon in Bloodborne, I wished they would opted for a different system only for those dungeons.
I hope they get rid of the cycle theme or add a major twist to it. It's somewhat lame being able to predict how the story will unfold with all the knowledge that we gained in previous Dark Souls games, I just want to dive into the world and experience something new akin to Bloodborne except with the Dark Souls 2 gameplay mechanics.
Dark Souls 3 is probably going to be about the cycle ending, likely to involve The Old Chaos as well.
Why is it that you can co-op for Sir Alonne, but not in any of the other memories (that I'm aware of)? Also I'm told you have to fight Vendrick solo, which doesn't make much sense either.
