Surely I'm not supposed to be taking 5 times more damage than usual from just the basic enemies in the DLC areas? With a near endgame character?
I'm getting really sick of being killed in one stunlock combo if I get hit even once.
The games fetishistic obsession with enemy spam only got worse in the dlc. Just bring lots of poison projectiles and massive amounts of the fastest casting spells you can. All the areas are even more tedious if you don't bring a reliable ranged option that can thin out the numbers in a reasonable amount of time.
Dark Souls 3 is probably going to be about the cycle ending, likely to involve The Old Chaos as well.
Makes me wonder if Dark Souls 3 will be the last in the franchise, effectively making it a complete trilogy - from the beginning of the cycle with Gwyn starting the Age of Fire, to the end of the cycle.
I wish the parrying in Dark Souls 2 was like Dark Souls 1. I can never parry anything in 2
Man, who the fuck thought it was a good idea to add pyromancers to the ng+ lost sinner fight.

Punch me all you want but i never had any trouble with them since they don't last at all.
On the other hand, their RNG is weird since all of sudden they can decide to cast Forbidden Sun from both sides.

Not sure about that. FROM made Armored Core lasted for like about ~20 sequels, and they're still good stuff

Got a big helping of flame swathe to the face, so I was pretty pissed. Maybe I should use Lucatiel to get some of the heat off me.

Dark Souls 3 is actually the game which ties the Dark Souls series and the Armoured Core series into the same universe. We were playing Armoured Core games all along.
that explains patches
Slowly Dark Souls will eventually feature mechas.
Well there is an Old King in For Answer, the Moonlight Sword is in both series, instead of rolling you have quickboost, both series have a generally dark and pessimistic atmosphere...
Rats, From hasn't made an original game since 1997 have they?

A game with the gameplay of a souls game only everything is huge mecha and godzilla monsters.
It could work.
So... For Answer with demons and shit?
i would like a souls style game to take place in a desolate future warzone like you see in the Armored Core games.
2000th post woohoo
I realized a while ago that I played a FromSoftware game before Dark Souls. It was Eternal Ring on the PS2.
I should look into that game again, I was young and dumb when I first played so there was a lot I didn't understand / probably missed.

I'm telling ya, Armoured Souls needs to be a thing. It could be set in a world similar to the Bloodborne universe in terms of aesthetic and tech level, where there are not only shambling undead and raving loonies (YEW PLAYG-RIDD'N RAT!), but also larger Lovecraftian beasties out in the wastes and wilds. Such things would be far too large for your average Chosen Undead/Hunter to take on, thus the Empire commissioned the construction of large fighting machines to drive back the dreaded Behemoths and protect the cities of man. Think Bloodborne meets Pacific Rim with mechs similar to Ironcast.
In the cities and ruined places of the world, you'd fight on foot in the Souls-like/Bloodborne style, likely picking up scrap metal and hunting for darkblood, but when travelling across the wastes and wilds from place to place, you'd be stomping around in your War Engine engaging in tense clutch battles with Behemoths. After a tense battle in your War Engine, your systems would need repairing, which is where you'd need the scrap metal, and your tank would need to be refilled with Darkblood. Darkblood would act as a sort of eldritch analogue to oil, being used not only to keep your War Engine running, but also as a focus for one's arcane faculties when you transfuse it into your own veins, sending you into a "Darkflame" state where you attack with powerful otherworldly magicks while gradually eroding your health.
This also ties into the story as later on you would encounter dark and slimy eldritch horrors that were likely once Darkblood users like yourself, but strangely enough you haven't experienced any of the symptoms that would indicate your turning into one of the Darkbound. At least, not yet. After all, that strange woman's words still ring in your ear from time to time. "Wouldn't it be a shame if you were lost to the Abyss? Let's hope it doesn't come to that..."
So I got Dark Souls and have been playing it on and off for the last couple weeks, and I have to say it's really neat, I haven't been this compelled by a game in a long while.
Dark Soul 3: Four Answers
Got Dark Souls, already having trouble with nailing parry into riposte.
Fuck me, I'm in for a whale of a time.
Dark Souls 2? Or 1?
In 2, the Parry to Ripost window is when the enemy is half-way through falling down. Otherwise you can wait until they fall completely then fuck them up (I never truly understood that part of the mechanic. Like, what does more damage? The falling down one or the one where they're already on the ground?)
In DS1, wait ~.5 seconds (Basically, don't press the attack the exact moment you parry, wait a tiny bit) in the parry animation then wreck em.
1. And as embarrassing as it might sound, it's the parry part I'm having trouble with. Goddamn thing never actually seems to work, fuck shit cunt.
Oh. Watch the hand, not the weapon. You're trying to time the parry with the moment (give or take a frame or 2) the hand touches you. Try to parry the hand, not the weapon.

You get more damage on standing riposte (which also counts when enemies are guard breaked). They nerfed the riposte on people sitting down because weapons like daggers etc would do an absurd amount of damage.
For DS1 parries, you're invincible while doing so, same with backstab, so go for it.

You sure about that? I've insta-riposted many a black knight. Or is it different for players?
You sure about that? I've insta-riposted many a black knight. Or is it different for players?
I've had it where sometimes insta-riposting was just standard attacks where waiting for that small instance was pretty much a guarantee.
I got riposting into a confirmed thing in DS1, managed to do it to everything that could be parried. It was in DS2 that I had to rely on a target shield and 110 ADP because I play with 60 FPS and my parry frames are fucking halved.
Finally I am going to play Sotfs, can anyone recommend a fun build? I've done pretty much everything already.

Heavy armor, throwing items only
I should start using shields again, I always dodge most of the time.

Orma and Reeve's greatshields, powerstanced, no points in anything other than strength, vigor, and vitality. Ultimate tank, and the best part is it actually works.
You could also go for a lightning and spears cleric like I'm in the middle of now. At 50 faith with a lightning-infused dragon chime, even Heavenly Thunder becomes both viable and terrifying. Pile the dragonslayer spear on top of that and you've got a build that will never not wreck dragons (unless you're fighting Sinh).
