I don't know if I want to buy the upgrade or not. I hear that some of the enemy rearrangements are good and that others are shit, and that some of the moved items make a few areas pointless to go through
From what I've seen, the only real bullshit place is Iron Keep's new enemy layout. Not sure about item placement, but there hasn't really been any pointless places for loot aside from Grave of Saints (But even then, the Disc Chime Shield you can get after the location is useful enough from what I hear)
I feel bad about Siegmeyer... Tried to help him, but he got killed by the chaos eaters. I suppose his honor was at least kept intact. I know if I saved him he'd just go hollow, but still.
Do not feel bad for him. He died as he wanted to. A warrior, with his debt to you repaid. Had he lived, he would have realized he could never possibly be of use to you, unable to repay you for the repeated aid he provided. His self-concept of a rugged adventurer would be shattered, once and for all, leaving a broken man behind, drowning in despair, until finally joining the hollowed, mindlessly praying upon his own daughter. If he lived, though, you woulda gotten a titanite chunk from his daughter, so that might be kinda upsetting.
it's a slab
You mean Slab, oh the mighty one. Sieglinde is a lovely girl, afraid of no undeads

And so that's Dark Souls... Did some final mop-up. Four Kings didn't even require a different armor set, got 'em on the first try. Pyromancy already maxed. Took on Gwyndolyn, who while weak was a touch more challenge than I expected. Never killed Priscilla. I never saw any reason to cause her harm, so I left her be. Didn't go harvesting Fire Keepers either. Had to kill the one on the way to Gwyndolyn, but my +3 flask already maxed my health on consumption. Would feel like an ass to kill Quelaag's sister or otherwise. So, satisfied with how I'd left things, I made the pilgrimage to the Kiln. It's amazing to think the black knights which once caused me such stress before are now so easily dispatched. Gwyn got me the first time, with only a chunk of his health remaining. For the best though, as Solaire had fallen already, which thwarted my desired outcome. Second time though? We ganked Sunny's ass with the ol' Jolly Cooperations, and I left him to link the flame and find his sun, as I ventured into the dark, in the hopes that, with guidance, the Dark needn't be a thing to fear. Taking a break, but New Game Plus is already quite satisfying. Just being able to use all your hard-won gear and resources right off the bat is a great feeling. I doubt it will last, but watching the ol' Asylum Demon fall in seconds brings a warm fuzzy feeling... All in all, this game is fantastic. A work of art that can be appreciated by those with the will, without shoving the lore and story in the player's face. If the player just wants to enjoy the tight, simple yet masterful gameplay and boss fights, they can just play and ignore the rest. It's harsh, but fair. It rewards exploration and encourages you to seek your own path, collecting weapons and magic and gear with total abandon. The game has this reputation for being ungodly, impossibly hard, but I never really found it to be that bad. After all, let's just consider some of the ways it could have been made harder for the sake of difficulty or realism. Equip load: You're limited via endurance as to how much stuff you can wield and wear. Everything but rings and spells, arrows and consumables have weight dictating your movement speed. If it was for the sake of difficulty, you could have a limited number of carry-able items, or everything WITH weight could encumber you just for having it, and not only for wearing it, like in Skyrim. Your Bottomless Box could have a bottom, and you could be forced to prioritize stuff you wanted to keep and have to dump other things. But the game doesn't do that. It knows you have enough bearing on your mind, and lets you grab however much of whatever the hell you want. Even if you're carrying twelve sets of armor on you, it won't count against you. Recovery: The first time I fell off a cliff navigating the Undead Burg, I thought, "shit, never getting THOSE souls back," only to realize in disbelief how my bloodstain was sitting by the ledge where I fell. People call the game unforgiving, but this proves just the opposite. Even getting a SINGLE chance to go pick up souls you died carrying if merciful. The game could easily have said "tough shit," especially owing to how feasible soul-grinding is with the enemy respawns. "Fuck You" Traps: There aren't any. Well, maybe if we count Bed of Chaos... But still. The environment EASILY could have contained bullshit pitfalls you would never see coming. Make the ground open up underneath you so you fall to your death. The closest it ever came was a rickety bridge in Blight Town, which starts wobbling its planks back and forth when you cross, but it's not like it gave way underneath you. The swinging axes in Sen's Fortress are invariant in pace, so if you fall it's probably because you were careless. The statues in the Catacombs stab you when you approach, but the damage they do is negligible, and you'll quickly learn to avoid them. I never felt like the game was busting my balls, hitting me with something I could never see coming after trekking a good distance in uncharted territory. The AI: ...or lack thereof. Save for bosses, the enemy AI is rock-stupid, and I guarantee that's by design. Their pathing is fine, but rarely will they attempt anything more complex than "close distance and attack rapidly." To encourage smart play, you're meant to aggro enemies one at a time if possible, just falling within their range to come after you alone. Realistically, it doesn't make sense. They COULD have given enemies perfect vision, and had them all sound the alarm to rush you as a horde. Another thing you'll notice, the enemies almost NEVER have any idle behaviors. I can't even come up with an instance where enemies patrolled an area, forcing you to aggro them or aggro others quickly before something walked over and spotted you. The Demon Ruins and Lost Izalith almost felt like setups for big Garrysmod battles, with Taurus Demons and Bounding Demons just plunked down onto a space in the map to sit still and wait for you to grab their attention. My long and rambling point is that the game gets a rap that isn't quite true. Not in a bad way, but in the same way that calling Seinfeld "The Show About Nothing," is catchy and popular... but on inspection not at all accurate. It's the obtuseness of the first few hours or so of gameplay that earns Dark Souls its reputation, from less patient players barging in without knowing thing-one about how the game is meant to work. Once you've got it nailed-down, it's like riding a bike, and your gonna have yourself a great time. Fuckin' A... what a game.
Saved Solaire from hollowing at least. Thinking I'll let him be the sun he always wanted after we fight Gwyn.
That's pretty much my head-canon too, especially after VaatiVidya's Prepare to Cry on that particular god of war.
You mean Slab, oh the mighty one. Sieglinde is a lovely girl, afraid of no undeads
Funny enough, I think that she's the only human character in Dark Souls. Die once, she stays dead in lore theory. No bonfire or Estus Flask benefits either. She goes from Seathes cave to Firelink Shrine on her own. She's fucking badass!
And so that's Dark Souls... Fuckin' A... what a game.
Did you do Dark Souls 2 yet? I don't recall seeing any stories about it and I really want to know your opinion on it.
FUCK I forgot to fight Vendrick and beat Nashandra. I don't want this ending. I want out of this place but I fucking can't I DIDNT GO THROUGH THE GAME AGAIN TO MISS THE ENDING.

Just use an ascetic and both the Throne duo and Nashandra will respawn.
VaatiVidya son-of-the-war-god something theory is full of shit
Okay, thank fuck for the ascetics working. Got the ending now, and if that's the canon ending leading into DS3, then this could be fun.
so which conference at e3 will they show off dark souls 3 in?
so which conference at e3 will they show off dark souls 3 in?
If it's like DaS2, the microsoft one. Otherwise it'll be sony.
Wordswordswords
Glad you liked it. Couple things I gotta comment on: First: I gotta know, how'd you like the Artorias boss fight? I like. Asking this cause people generally agree it's the best fight in terms of feel/difficulty. Second: yeah, demons souls tried that "almost everything in your inventory weighs you down" thing and people hated it Third: you gonna fashion souls up NG+?
Glad you liked it. Couple things I gotta comment on: First: I gotta know, how'd you like the Artorias boss fight? I like. Asking this cause people generally agree it's the best fight in terms of feel/difficulty. Second: yeah, demons souls tried that "almost everything in your inventory weighs you down" thing and people hated it Third: you gonna fashion souls up NG+?
1: Artorias was a really tight encounter, and I died several times trying. No need for a strategy guide, fairly straightforward, but a pop-quiz on how well you could handle the base game, react and manage your stamina properly. He's the kind of boss that makes you feel like a dumbass when you die, instead of feeling like he's cheap or something. Because you realize while fighting that he gives you INNUMERABLE opportunities to get hits off on him. But you don't take them, because you quickly learn how fast and sudden his moves are, and how he can go from standing there staring at you for several seconds to becoming a whirlwind of wrecking your shite. Biggest example is his front-flipping leap attack, because he can chain about four of those together into a combo if he wants, and if you opt to attack after the first one, you've got a good chance of getting hit. And contrariwise, he flips, you dodge and move out of the way, only to realize he's stopped and that you just missed your opening. That seems to be the theme of his fight. Even that charging Abyss-power AOE thing is actually an opening for someone with the balls to try, because you can interrupt him with enough hits and smack him around. But hesitate, and you're getting a face-full of purple globby explosion. 2: Heh, I've heard the game is underrated, and some even contend it's actually the best of the series. Maybe someday I'll give it a shot, but for now I've more got my sights on DS2, (Steam Summer Sale, your timing is wonderful) though I've heard going in that it just isn't the same animal as the first... 3: Yeah, there are some bosses I'm aching to try again. And at some point, I know I want to start out as a different class. Maybe an all-bow/dexterity build. Maybe an intelligence build. It's no damn wonder so many people are still playing, the replay value is immense. I've run into some serious weirdos in PVP.
Try out your hands on ganking in the forest, J-Dude. Then you'll learn the true horror of this game. Fark the abyss
oh my fucking god demon ruins is such a BITCH
I dreamed that Bloodborne was out for PC. Dammit.
After playing through Bloodborne multiple times, going into SotFS was odd because I was use to having tons of stamina and it took me a at least 2 great souls before I remembered you can upgrade your armor. :v: Also loving how early you get the Grand Lance. Always wanted to play through with it, but didn't want to go through NG+ just to do so.

But yeah it's pretty fantastic, Chariot Lance isn't bad either because of the Bleed build up and how often a Lance can hit.
I can't use my mouse on the level up menu in SoTFS
I think you need to use keyboard for that. Not sure though, I've been playing with a controller since day 1.
Bandai Namco is pretty Much DSIII, right? can't wait:dance:
I'm both super excited and immensely dreading DS3. On one hand, it looks like we're getting a cool mix of DS1 and 2 and i'm loving the new John Darksouls and the bleeding sun and basically everything from the screenshots. On the other, i don't want another vanilla DS2, especially if there's gonna be another post-E3 downgrade.

I HOPE ANYONE ELSE JUST SAW THAT
