So I've never really been interested in DS because all the hype about it being super hardcore kinda put me off, but I bought DS on steam sale because why not. Is it a common thing for new players to go straight down the graveyard path once they reach Lordran and get killed by skeletons over and over for a couple of hours before realising there's another path with much weaker dudes you're supposed to go down first?
I suppose so, since the average player doesn't seem to listen to the Crestfallen Warrior's dialogue.

i think it's more that people go into the game not knowing it's open. i went into the game thinking it was entirely linear so when i got to the graveyard i was surprised by how hard it was. then i explored a bit, went into new londo and got even more confused. then after realising the game is open with many paths to go down (some too hard for now) i eventually found undead burg and felt pretty stupid.
by the amount of people that don't go to undead burg first i feel like it's designed so that you go to the wrong place first, realise that the game is open world and some places are too difficult at the moment, then eventually find undead burg. or maybe i'm dumb idk.

That is pretty much the number one most common mistake every new player makes. Welcome to Dark Souls.
I feel like people told everyone that "woAH this game is SUPER HARD for hardcore gamers WATCH OUT" and then people played the game, went to the graveyard and thought "WOah this game is super hard haha" instead of thinking it might have been the wrong way

and then when someone asked for help faggots just said "git gud haha"

I listened to it, it's just that the path to the burg wasn't immediately obvious to me
then again, neither was the ability to go below Firelink until my friend told me there was a way to skip most of Blighttown by having a Master Key and pointed it out. :v:

literally how it went for me
I didn't notice the stairs to the burg at first cuz that tree near the well blocked my view and it sorta blends into the cliff face

I never fell for that trap. I knew that there was a huge discrepancy between the asylum's difficulty and that difficulty, and I was the person who figured there had to be a less stupidly hard way to progress. I did stick through it just to see if I could get some good loot though, and that led me to use the Zweihander through the game.
[editline]19th June 2015[/editline]
It's also stupidly easy to beat the skeletons with the Zweihander
I think DS1 was the only game that i finished as a Bandit, the Axe and immunity physical and poison attacks with the shield carried me for a long way plus i used the Giant Skeletons in the graveyard as quick farming for 2 or 3 levels without noticing.
So I just got to Shrine of Amana in Scholar and it's still BS? They really didn't tweak the difficulty of one of the #1 areas that needed it?

What about it is bs?

Sure they added more numbers but they're mostly lined up and have a better position to go through and you have a better npc to help
I always thought Amana was the easiest because you can just roll through the whole area and never get hit unless you never upgraded your ADP.

[I]Info from the fourth image (the interview):
Game has been a few years in development. Miyazaki joined as director after the prototype was done. He's a lot more involved in this game than Dark Souls 2, working together with Tanimura et al.
He feels more experienced with PS4 titles after the release of Bloodborne.
DaS3's theme is "closure" (he likens it to the a beautiful decay/ the setting of the sun). In terms of story it will be like an Heroic Epic surrounding the Lord of Cinder. the Giant King in the trailer is the king of a species that once sought the Fire.
if Dark Soul's setting revolved around the idea of "killing Gods", this time the setting is about "killing Kings"
It takes place after Das2 timeline-wise (unnecessary to have played the other games to enjoy it)
stuff we already know about core gameplay mechanics being similar to Das and Das2 (there will be matchmaking servers like in Das2)
the gameplay will be somewhat faster paced than both previous titles
overall the game won't be as big as das2. in terms of areas, there will be fewer, but they will be larger, with a focus on quality over quantity

The translation is from dark souls 3 reddit, in case if anyone is interested.
Humongous Father will always stay funny to me
Something i'd like for them to add is the ability to set a summon sign down that brings them to your world if they use it. It would make it easier to let people know you're looking for help in an area they wouldn't normally put a sign down in.
i'm a bit late to the scholar party, but can you get the black murakumo in the dx11 version?
So, speaking of the Vaati convo earlier, he uploaded this:

He's talking about the Lords of Cinder and how they're coming back to life and how they're previous Chosen Undead that have linked the fire time and again. Chances are, we'll probably get a bunch of random dudes but it'd be cool as shit if we got Gwyn, the Giant Lord guy, the Chosen Undead and the Bearer of the Curse and had to fight them.
truth be told i think Gwyn should stay dead it makes his plight all the more meaningful that he fraught to the absolute bitter end on the first i mean what can be go beyond the hollowed husk of his former glory?
weapon arts sounds like something i would adore and always switch between
as long as the "Praise the Sun!" gesture comes back i'll be happy
as long as the "Praise the Sun!" gesture comes back i'll be happy
Vaati mentioned it in the video i posted, says it IS coming back.
as long as the "Praise the Sun!" gesture comes back i'll be happy
People have said they showed it off in the demo.
All i want from the DS1 it's "Well what is it" gesture or simply a gesture where you stand still and open your arms and do nothing else until you decide to move your characters.
Would be neat if there was a gesture where you could walk around while gesturing.
Menacingly waddle up to a boss with the Praise the Sun gesture. Or move in for a hug with Well What is it.
