Dark Souls and Demon's Souls Megathread VI. Katana Gank Squad Edition

Jeez why is it that every time I want to do a non dex build the balder side sword drops immediately? This time I thought I'd make a magic guy, because I never actually did that before. Lo and behold, the second knight I killed dropped it. Whenever I actually try to grind for one it never drops. This is the real curse.
I can't tell if half the people I'm invading in the beginner areas are hackers or not. The people in question are usually wearing end-game armor and weapons. I guess theoretically they could have just been using the Agape Ring the entire game, but that feels unlikely.
Well this just removes the fun out of everything. :T
I've just started a playthrough of SOTFS and there was a summon sign near the cardinal tower bonfire with the dude wearing full vengarl's set so something weird is going on.

Yeah, his name is feeblecursed1, he's an infamous hacker who trolls beginners.
Probably will make a low SM agape ring sunbro at some point to help against the invader menace
What if the story about dark souls 3 is about the soul of light that has gone wild? We all seen what the soul of life did when it went wild. same goes for the dark soul.
Thanks to Big Picture, i can name my characters long enough.
For the new players here playing SotFS, I'll be running around the beginner areas as this.

Will be both co-oping and invading newbies to give them a warm welcome into the game. :v: Will only be using basic strategies against them when invading so they have a feel for how combat works. Hope to see you guys there!
Reminds me of when I did the same on the PS3 version of Dark Souls back in the day. I'd invade someone, get naked, and drop a bunch of items for them before running in circles around them. :v:

Big Picture mode changes the max character limit???

Yeah, pretty sure it's a bug but for now it's better than relying on CE for the name.
Ran into a hacker around Heide's Tower.
I'm only ~level 20 or so and this guy invades as "Persuer" with Moonlight Greatsword and Dragon Chime using Wrath of the Gods. Wasn't looking at armor, but it looked like a mix of Dark and Forlorn's doing medium rolls.
I managed to get 222 damage on him in one combo but it took only a small chip off his health.

hella sweet
I love that it bases off your Steam name now. 'Cuz now I can do shit like this.

Does anybody tried multiplayer in PS3 DS1 lately?
Is the forest, or anywhere, still active?
The Prepare to Die edition updated for me on Steam. I wonder what was added/changed/fixed.

It's fairly active.

I've played both DS1 and DeS on PS3 recently and it seemed just as active as ever to me.
I dont know if that happens to everyone but I always get a very quick but noticeable stutter a few seconds before an invasion. It has made me extremely paranoid whenever a game stutters even just a bit. Even singleplayer games.
I remember the first time I played, I completely missed the Wharf until like the end of the game pretty much.
I missed the entirety of Huntsman's Copse, Earthen Peek, and the Iron Keep my first playthrough since by co-oping I had accumulated 1 million souls and didn't need the fourth big soul. Was a neat surprise, felt like a bonus area.
Holy shit, this guy made it possible to make entirely new custom weapons in Dark Souls. :O

He's hoping to release the tools in a few weeks.
I wonder if you can do specific movesets as well. I wouldn't mind a Berenike Mace with a slightly quicker version of that moveset.
Oh my god, this is too good
Imagine making a custom weapon that can do elemental buffs with a button press like some of the DS2 DLC weapons. PvP would be broken.

He mentioned in a comment that using custom weapons in multiplayer would be impossible unless the guy you're connecting with has the same mods, so not really sure how it'll affect pvp.

I figured this would be the case, it's like downloading skins in Counter-Strike. Only effects your files.

It seems to be a re-skinned Grant.
It would be cool if you could make an actual new weapon with custom damage values and moveset.
But this looks promising.

Yeah you're right, but I think the point here is that it's an additional weapon added to the world, instead of just a modified existing one. Changing movesets and other properties is something we can already do with cheat engine, so I imagine that's not much trouble to do.
Seems like he added a new room entirely. I'd like to see folks get in on that shit instead of weapons.
Is the Black Knight sword the best weapon in the game or something? Because I got it from the first Black Knight (the one in Undead Burg) and I've just been plowing through bosses since I got the strength and dexterity to use it. The only boss that gave me any trouble was Sif, and that was only because I didn't know how to use roll properly.
black knight weapons are strong but by no means the best
Abyss Greatsword is one of the best imo depending on how you play.
Abyss Greatsword is one of the best imo depending on how you play.
Isn't that the one with the ridiculous stat requirements? Pretty much excludes everyone from using it except those with rooty tooty point and shooty magic builds.

My favorite weapon in DS1 is hands down the Claymore. That weapon is so fucking godly. Great moveset, has great poise reduction with each hit, does great damage and isn't too terribly heavy. I was so disappointed with what DS2 did with it.

Black Knight Sword also does bonus damage to demon enemies (Taurus Demon, Capra Demon, etc.) so it outclasses most other greatswords early to mid game. You're basically very lucky the knight dropped the sword that early in the game 'cuz the sword is actually a rare drop.
