I'm now undernearth a giant nest of bramble and vines that apparently surrounds Drangleic but you never saw it before. It looks absolutely gorgeous (a rare thing in a Souls game), but dammit if they didn't have to fill it with wizards and crawling gremlins and...paladins or something. I think I also see a Dragonrider in the corner, for some reason.
That place was worse when the wizards cast range was so long they physically weren't loaded into the level and could still shoot at you.

Jesus christ. I've been noticing for a while now that there's a range, beyond which everything stutters and can't be harmed. Certain rooms in Drangleic even, if an enemy was on the far end, their idle animation would stutter and arrows would fail to hit/hurt them, despite hitting.
Is it worth upgrading shields in DSII? The physical damage reduction doesn't seem to be worth the titanite, 95.0-->95.1, but I don't know if it's worth it later on. I'm on my second character, my first still hasn't finished the game but it's for coop with a friend and he can only play every couple of days, and i don't want to use my titanite on any more weapons until I get the flamberge.
just use the watchdragon parma if you gotta use a sheild
just use the watchdragon parma if you gotta use a sheild
Does it boost item discovery or something? It blocks less physical damage and doesn't look as neat as the Archduke Shield does with Creighton's set.

Use the Royal Kite Shield if you want 100 percent physical damage reduction
That's fucking stupid. I also finally collected the four mightiest souls in the land to bypass a collapsed archway, walked through a short 30 metre tunnel and I've apparently been transported kilometres away because I can't even see the Viaduct of Shaded Woods, nor the sea at Mejula. This is ridiculous.
Dark Souls II was to be more open-world than the final product we got. Executives at Bamco didn't like the open-world direction, and halfway through production they stopped development and replaced director Shibuya with Tanimura. They then had to redesign everything as well as keep on schedule. This little incident, and Bamco's shittery in the past, is why DSIII is the last title with Bamco.

It's no doubt why we have things like impossible geography. It's pretty disheartening to know that three Souls games in and each one has been subject to bullshit i.e. Demon's Souls cut 6th archstone, the latter half of Dark Souls, DSII's development, etc. Wouldn't be surprised in the least to hear DSIII get some shit.

Looking at the art I mean damn man, could've been great.

This makes me wonder if we'll get remakes of those games in the future. I know there's the Scholar edition, but I mean the full original ideas and concepts put to use without any Bamco fuckery.

So basically whats going on here is what happened with Demon's Souls again, where they'll have to find a new publisher again, and change the name of the series again, despite it being basically the same thing all over AGAIN.
All just so they can give the fans that practically want to throw money at them what they've wanted to give them for what seems to be a few years now.
[sp]Amazing.[/sp]

They should go indie
open-world dark souls seems pretty odd to me I have no idea how they could make that work
open-world dark souls seems pretty odd to me I have no idea how they could make that work
Dark Souls 1 was pretty much open-world, though.
So basically it was less of B-Team's fault and more bamco's fault. This is what I wanted to believe from the start.

Ya, it's a good thing that From are planning on leaving bamco after DS3 if they're being that restrictive.

I'd sure as shit hate to be Shibuya after all this. Guy gets tasked with making a new Souls game, creating putting a more open-world direction than DaS was, being all ambitious n' shit. Then the higher ups come down and go "no. Make it again." and put another guy (Tanimura) in charge. At least Tanimura got to strut his stuff with the DLC, easily the best level design of DSII.

This is why I really hate those who constantly rap on the B-team's performance.
Bamco? If memory serves I thought the games were published by Namco Bandai, I might be wrong though.

uhhh, yea, exactly lol
They were formerly Namco Bandai but they recently changed their name to Bandai Namco last year. Why? I have no idea.

next year they'll change it to bandco namai
then after that bandnam aico
I went through a phase where I would accidentally pronounce bamco's name as bando namcai.
True story.
next year they'll change it to bandco namai

more like 'bad-name' aico
They were formerly Namco Bandai but they recently changed their name to Bandai Namco last year. Why? I have no idea.
They were in a weird situation where they were Bandai Namco in Asia but they were Namco Bandai in the West. They changed the name around in the West to be the same is it is at home.
It's so fuckin lame that they've put the lost bastille's fuckin boss fight behind a petrified statue shit thing. Now i gotta farm 12k souls to buy a branch just to be able to fight the boss...

Alternatively you can skip it and go straight for the Lost Sinner if you got the Antiquated Key.
