Lance is so fucking good in PvE. PvP too, if you know how to be tricky with it. [sp]Or magic if you wanna' go super casul[/sp]
Magics only really effective in PvP in my experience if: -you catch your opponent by surprise -you gank your opponent -your opponent cannot dodge competently -you actually know how to put pressure on by mixing up your spells instead of soul spear spam

[sp]Or magic if you wanna' go super casul[/sp]
I upgraded my grand lance to +10 and it does wreck PvE but i couldn't do shit with it in PvP. I either got parry'd or back stabbed. So, now i offhand my grand lance, spawn with a royal kite shield and sun sword +10 and then when the other guy isn't expecting it, i whip out the grand lance and charge them with it. I have a dragonrider bow +4 with poison arrows too. I'm usually pretty shit at pvp but i'm like 6-2 with this set up so far.
I usually use a quick fast weapon in my offhand to counter my Lance's slow moveset in my main hand. Usually what I do is start off attacking with my offhand to lower their guard and once they're vulnerable I'll follow up with my lances' jabs. Another good (and easy) tactic is to bait them to run up and attack you, then just simply backstep away from their attack, then return fire with your lance's backstep attack (which is the same as the running joust attack). Sit back and enjoy the show as you watch your opponent panic away in fear. :v:
I always played Lance methodically, waiting for an opening cause it does solid poise damage but is fairly slow, so it can stagger easy once you get in and when Ivory came out and that bridge was a PvP hotspot, i got all the Dragon Scales i needed with just the Grand Lance. It also does amazing backstab damage. People also tend to roll backwards so if you can get your two hits off and start your charge, you can usually hit them at the end of their roll.
What's the best practical armor for a melee build? Black Iron Set (when fully upgraded) had the best overall defenses while being relatively light. What's that armor set in ds2?

[editline]23rd July 2015[/editline] Wanted to show how viable the Lance can be in PvP, so here's a random assortment of arena duels that I literally just did a couple of minutes ago.
Looks like an Estoc, and all the infusions are fire.
Yeah, I alternate between Broadsword and Estoc during battles to change up my playstyle. Usually if I only stick with one weapon I start becoming too predictable and it becomes harder to hit the opponent. Switching offhands every now and then kinda helps diversify my playstyle. Also, sometimes you can bait your opponent into trying to parry you, in which you can just counter with a jump attack. Jump attacks with a lance deals ridiculous amount of damage, almost as much as a backstab.
Alright, this is quite possibly the nerdiest fucking thing I have ever done in my life. I made a montage video of me and my Grand Lance shenanigans. :v: I like my Lance, o-okay... Video's still processing, so quality might still be shit for a lil' while. And sorry for the rough quality, I'm not exactly experienced with video editing software, much less Adobe Premiere Pro.
First DLC is down, summoning NPC phantoms for the dragon fight made it easier than doing it yourself. But god do i hate fighting player character NPCs. They have too much health and poise for my liking and the tracking some od them have is ridiculous. Those knights in the first DLC are annoying to fight just because that. 45 hours in on my 100% character on the PS4, Old Iron King is next and i hated that DLC.

Bloody Phantom Steel-Armor Bridgefucker whatever his name was in the Sunken DLC before the Co-op area is a prime example of what not to do.
Or the Gankers. With a guy in full Havels being able to run in water like he has the Rusted Iron Ring on. And then you have his buddy with the Dragon Slayer Bow shooting at you just before you can finish the parry. Oh, and don't bother summoning the NPC's for those guys.

Just let them get the attention and go to town on them.

Everything's interconnected and nothing feels too "game-y," except the Iron Passage because fuck that place and fuck Cool Ranch.
Man, this Bandit Axe works so much better in conjuction with my lance. Wish I included it in my video.

it's a bridge fight club the one on the left was playing with binoculars the host was running down to hit a red sign the red on the bridge is waiting to fight another red he's shiny cuz he killed a lot of arena nerds
So how's the playerbase for SoTFS on PC? Interested in upgrading from vanilla.
Plenty of summons to go around last I checked. Haven't played in over a month though so....
So how's the playerbase for SoTFS on PC? Interested in upgrading from vanilla.
Way more active than vanilla by a long shot, I can tell you that much.
It's fairly active, however for some reason summon signs and general online stuff has been scarce for me ever since the Woods. However, I expect it should pick up by the time I get to Drangleic castle since some people do the Four Souls in different orders

Been on the Squalid Queen for a week now, Adds have no business being in a Dark Souls bossfight unless they're well implemented and the fight is built around their inclusion ala the Looking Glass Knight.
