Dark Souls and Demon's Souls Megathread VI. Katana Gank Squad Edition

I got a bit depressed when I read up Astrea's backstory.
The way Astraea delivers her line "take your precious demon's soul" hits me in the fucking gut every time.
Demons' OST is the best. No song in a Soulsborne game has affected me as much as Astraea's theme.

I'd like the Demon's Souls OST a lot more if it was done on a real orchestra and not a synthetic one, since the melodies are good but the synthetic shit ruins it
I don't like Astraea simply because she is pretentious. As soon as you enter, she's all like "please leave us, you won't find anything etc" while the main reason of many knights is to slay the demon. She basically commited to it and goes full delusional mode.
I love Garl Vinland though, but it always make me feel "ugh" whenever he mentions the filthy place they're living. I find his backstory more tragic since he's dedicating his whole life to her while leaving her family (sister) out.
And no sense of accomplishment on defeating Astraea.

You're not supposed to feel accomplished.
You're not supposed to feel accomplished.
Not in a sad way, in a frustrating way. The way she tells you "Take your precious Demon's soul" is insulting. She basically sent her knight to death and tried to help the filth (who basically just kept killing and kidnapping littles) and revive dead babies. As much as i love her theme, Demon's Souls in general, she's the least character that i would feel sadness with, more a sense of disgust.
Well the whole idea is she felt sorry for all the poor diseased people and aborted babies that were just chucked away and left there, eventually taking on a demon soul to grant her the power to actually make the difference she wanted to make, unlike the church she used to be a part of.
Unfortunately nobody ever looked passed the "soul of a demon part" and went in to kill her, upsetting the peace she had established, and it's supposed to hit you that you just murdered someone legitimately trying to help just so you could nab another demon soul.
It's also outright stated that a demon is just a being with a hunger for souls. What do you spend the entire game doing? At least Astraea tried to help.
Moreover, what about all the merchants who demand you give them souls instead of some kind of actual currency for their services?
[sp]No, inhabitants of the Nexus, you are the demons[/sp]
Unless you speedrun and don't actually aquire like any souls lol
Point is, she commited to something that is pointless to do and putting a barrier between Old One and the demon's slayer, adding controversies to her actions.
That's also what boils me down.
Anybody got any fun pyro builds for DS1?
I thought the only pyro build was to throw fire everywhere.
Anybody got any fun pyro builds for DS1?
Fireball only.
Im glad you can grind up kills at the bellkeepers using mad warrior dude, even if he doesn't show up half the time. The less time on pvp, the better. And i find it a little silly that both Hidden weapon and Chaos Fireball are hidden behind pvp rewards. Sunlight Spear shouldnt be an issue if i co-op through journey 2 though, i hope so anyway.
I really dont want to be dealing with half the shit that you experience in pvp, not today. Twinblade crystal Havel Monsters, face stabs like the old TF2 days and generally being hit by stuff i feel like i shouldn't get hit by. Im not in the best of moods right now to deal with that shit.
Oh, and why arent the ballista's at Iron Keeps bell area destroyable? I've seen people just try and run circles around then as they try to wait for another bell end to join, or anyone at that matter.

If I remember right, the ones in the Pursuer area aren't destructible by the player either, the boss has to hit them.
(sotfs) At what SM do people usually start doing the old iron king? I want to co-op there.
I read somewhere that co-op (summoning) is determined by level now, and that only invasions and duels are matched by soul memory. is that true or was that person talking out of their ass?
Also, does anyone wanna give me some advice on my level ~125 Faith build? I'm alternating between the Dragonslayer Axe and the Heide spear, but I feel like I take more damage than I give. I'm kinda struggling to get the hang of using miracles in duels, since whenever I try to take them out from a distance they just dodge my attacks since they move so slowly, and when I try to hit them just outside of melee range I don't recover from the winddown fast enough to dodge their counterattacks.
Here's a shot of my stats at the moment:

my weapons are all upgraded to +10 including my Preist's chime, and all are infused with lightning.
Using miracles in PvP is kind of difficult, anyone that is semi-capable of dodging will just roll through it and you'll never land a hit. If you want to use miracles in PvP, try focusing on buffs rather than outright offensive spells, save for MAYBE Wrath of the Gods. Even that will be spotty, but you can always break line of sight and then try to catch them with it as they round the corner on you. If you want to use offensive magic, try sorcery and hexes and don't just spam them.
I fought Fume Knight yesterday, and on my 3rd attempt I decided I'd try summoning someone.
His name was Oscar, probably RPing Oscar from DS1.
Thanks to him I won, but he died seconds before I landed the final hit :( rip
I almost forgot, some of the miracles result in an area being pelted with lightning(I forget the name of the spell) are useful as a wake-up after landing a backstab. The standard projectile miracles are usually pretty hard to use, since even if you do land a hit it isn't going to be a game changer.

well yeah, everyone knows oscar dies
I haven't seen a summon sign in ages, at level 125 with sm 1.6mil. Where do I go to get summoned???
So, I just watched the current speedrun WR after not following it for about a year:

Holy shit, when did they figure out the new BoC strat?
A bunch of Souls streamers and content creators got to go to a hands on demo event for Dark Souls 3

Unfortunately there's an embargo until the 5th, so we'll have to wait until then for details :/

Hands on, hmm? Sounds like we're getting right to the nitty gritty now.
What is the most active version of Dark Souls 1, if anyone knows. PS3, PC or Xbox?

Soul Memory is still used for everything except arena duels, which is determined by level.

I'd assume PC, especially since GFWL got removed. I'm actually reinstalling it right now.
I don't know, I hardly find anyone on PC.
