Oh god i just discovered something that i never knew that i wanted until just now when i was thinking about Duke Nukem. I need to make a dude named "Hail to the King" or just "The King" and run with with Vendrick's gear and the King's UGS/Ruler's Sword/King's Shield. And eventually the Ivory set.
Welp, just finished my first playthrough of Dark Souls and beat Four Kings and Gwyn with a grand total of 0 deaths each. It's kind of funny seeing how much trouble people had with them, while at the same time I died to Pinwheel (whom I've seen people call braindead easy) like 5 times.
Level 11 giantdad diary: zweihander, gc shield, and rings obtained. Lautrec, havel, capra demon, and gargoyles defeated (in that order) :v: Gonna go grab me a pyro flame and kill a spider woman, I suppose
Man, why did they have to take away the best part of ornstein's helm
http://souls.darknode.org/ I wish this one took off more.
Once Scholar of the First Sin comes out I'll probably finish it. I have most everything done up locally, just can't be bothered to upload it since it's so late in the game's lifecycle anyway.
Doing a playthrough of dark souls with my friend who just got the game. I went into blight town and god damn, poison is weak shit it might as well not exist. Even fucking toxic is nothing compared to dark souls 2 poison. Granted it lasts longer, but it's very manageable.
Kinda depends on your gear. Playing as pyromancer on my first playthrough I didn't have much trouble with poison in blight town but trying it as a knight later (I usually still sticked to the starting set because I didn't know how to get any better sets before that point) got me poisoned multiple times, sometimes forcing me to backtrack to a bonfire or die.
I just stock up 10 or so poison blooms before I go down and I'm fine, my level 11 giantdad got quelaag on their third try and I had plenty blooms left by the time I went up and off to sen's fortress [sp]My first try they were down to 1 hit left but I was right next to her and out of stamina, and she decided it would be a great time to do her AOE. RIP [/sp]
I actually died to Nito today I'm a disgrace
Even though Nito becomes piss easy once you know how to fight him, I always thought he was a poorly designed boss from a first timers point of view. The fight begins with a damaging drop and at the start of the fight and one of the first things Nito can do is his stab which can catch you off guard since it's your first time fighting him and you don't know that the screaming is going to lead to a full screen stab, sometimes killing people without enough health or armor. On top of that, he has the 3 little skeletons always rushing you and the giant ones in the back with the only way to stop them from coming back outside of killing Nito is to use a specific type of weapon you may have never known about unless told you. But once you get the fight down, it basically becomes (for me) a boring fest of bait out AoE to kill little skellys, then go ham since he misses all his attacks. Repeat.
god damn it Petrus. I finally manage to catch Laurtec before he fucks off so I can actually advance your storyline and you go and [sp]kill Rhea before I get a chance to talk to her [/sp] Now I have all these faith points and no way to use them short of cheating them in. In other bummer news I just figured out that its basically impossible to be Orinstein and have the DWG and Leo ring on at the same time.
I like NG+ Nito. He becomes more aggressive and gain more accuracy with his sword attacks.
Did every stage of Siegmeyer's quest right, got to Lost Izalith. Fell into the pit, knew I shouldn't kill all the demons so I killed 2 and tried to get out of the pit. Little did I know there's a fucking hole the remaining demons can fall into and die. Thanks for the ring I guess. Guess I'll have to do that quest on another playthrough.

Note to self; off the fat fuck as soon as possible.
Note to self; off the fat fuck as soon as possible.
Correction: off that fat fuck as soon as he comes back from catacombs. Or got to the Firelink Shrine right after you helped Rhea so you can buy everything from her and spoil to Petrus his dirty plans. [sp]Rhea goes hollow and moves to Duke's Archives prison if you buy all her stuff.[/sp]
Petrus is a fuckin' asshole.
You just enter from the other side, and with your back to the wall it's a symmetrical area.
oh that would make a lot more sense then :v: [editline]26th January 2015[/editline]
I like NG+ Nito. He becomes more aggressive and gain more accuracy with his sword attacks.
it's sad that they don't do this with every enemy ng+ should introduce a new move in every enemies moveset, and make their attacks faster, rather than just make their health stronger
Then beeee safe. Faaaarewell. Vereor nox.
[large cathedral echo intensifies]
oh that would make a lot more sense then :v: [editline]26th January 2015[/editline] it's sad that they don't do this with every enemy ng+ should introduce a new move in every enemies moveset, and make their attacks faster, rather than just make their health stronger
So what you're saying is it should actually be a NG PLUS instead of NG AGAIN.
So what you're saying is it should actually be a NG PLUS instead of NG AGAIN.
the definitive dark souls experience not only are you going to throw your computer this time but this time you're going to light your house on fire it'd be great really. You would be used to the move set of all of these enemies, and then all of a sudden they have new moves and are way more pissed off.
i just had quite the experience fighting moonlight butterfly enter the fight helping a stranger, it does its usual business. it flies to the other side early on, ive not seen it do that a lot but i thought 'whatever'. it does the exact same thing again, except it thinks it was on the first side so it goes farther away. at this point it starts to gravitate downwards and towards us, until its clipping through the terrain and eventually is under the bridge. it doesnt stop, and it flies out of sight under the ground. we were both stuck there then as we cant fight something that decides to burrow and leave us, and theres nothing to kill ourselves with. i just black crystal out of there and leave the poor guy alone im still really confused what happened there

You'll be placed just outside the boss door
Man, I just checked out the Dark Souls Prepare to Donger Edition group chat and it's all nice and cool. Lots of people willing to help you or willing to be helped out. Lively fucking game considering Dark Souls 2's population. I noticed something too. Dark Souls 1 was re-released for a new platform just like how Dark Souls 2 is gonna be re-released now, the difference is that Dark Souls 1 included some temporarily-exclusive DLC content that was crazy fucking good and easily the highlight of the entire Souls series. Maybe if SotFS included some extra content, people would be alright with it being a full priced re-release. I know it already comes packaged with the DLC, but my friends could use a bit more convincing.
Well considering DS2 already had some pretty good DLC I highly doubt that.
for how much i liked the dark souls base game i didnt find the dlc too amazing, it was cool but i usually skip it in the end because all the bosses bar artorias are very similar to non dlc bosses but are just more aggressive they definitely beat the lord soul bosses, but even the dlc area itself is kinda underwhelming. the oolacile forest area feels kinda rehashed to me, hear me out itd just like darkroot but in daylight
Who's similar to manus and kalameet in non-dlc bosses?
they are really similar to each other even. hard hits that kill you and aoe damage that destroys you. both are very common in bosses. they are really similar to the firesage/stray demon but their attacks arent easy as fuck to calculate they all have thise "visual queue avoid this attack" shit going on that the demon bosses do
I don't think "they have hard hits and aoe damage" is even remotely defined enough to use it as a comparison, personally
in all honesty, the only enemies that i have seen consistently attack out of the blue without any wind-up are the hollow infantry and hollow knights and if it isn't at random, it's always after you landed a hit on them that didnt kill
When I reach the dlc I always just feel real fatigued for some reason. Maybe if you were able to start it before andor londo I'd like it more.
Just some advice if that ever happens to people offline, exit and re-enter the game. You'll be placed just outside the boss door
i think it was mostly because of lag, ive been having real issues with it ever since the move to steamworks. ive had a friend tell me too that he never experienced anything like that in his hundreds of hours playing it
