praise the sun
Does anyone have a good still image of the fluted helmet from the trailer? ie are we able to see how similar it is?

It retains familiar traits to the DeS one. although it seems to have been redesigned somewhat

there's two different knights in the trailer though, one with a bare armor chestpiece and one with a cape/cloth one.
Is that the same helmet the player character in the demos was wearing? Looks like it has a longer "nose" in the trailer...
Either way I like it!
Couple images released, looks like this might be the new John Darksouls, if that skull/crown helmed red ember robed guy isn't

Like it more than the DS2 hero armour, but it reminds me of knight armour more than elite knight armour
I preferred the Knight armor anyway, at least over DS2s EK set.
Elite Knight in DkS2 looked a lot cleaner, which might explain why some people didnt like it. It looked like it just came out fresh of the "I wanna be a knight" starter kit, sold by whats his face.
Plus, in a strange case of irony. The regular knight armor had better stats than the "Elite" Knight set in DkS2, yet Elite Knight had the edge in the first game.
I finally found a copy of Dark Souls 1 on the PS3, but i'm going to kick the shit out of Demon Souls first for all the thophies, and i'll not bother with crawling through another playthrough of Dark Souls 2 till later, since i'd have to go through New Game Plus and i can't be arsed with dealing with how shoddy it can feel like anymore.
And the Red Knights can drop the Purple Flame Shield, okay then. That's news to me.
So omnidirectional roll attacking is in as well as mad combos (R1, R1, L2 (sword art) R2) apparently
Dreadedcone is also saying in that discussion video that the running R2 has something interesting to do with it but they haven't explained yet

Ah. Running sword arts apparently

Most likely late, but it looks like there are only certain weapons that can dual wield.
I'll try

If you guys want you could post some things I should try out while playing the demo, things you wanna know etc
See if you can run into a boss or an NPC. Better yet, see what kind of weapons you can run into and how different the combat is compared to Dark Souls and Bloodborne.

So far there are 2 bosses that can be fought.
Guys, I know this might be far fetched, but I was thinking.
Could it be possible, that Miyasaki actually tries to tie dark souls and demon souls together?
I have not much evidence to back that up, but the similarity between the John Darksouls' 3 Armor and the fluted armor just let's me think about it.
And seeing as Dark Souls 3 seems to take part in the age of dark, where men were supposedly to rule, the kingdoms of Demon souls might just be a result of it.
Also King alant summoned the old one (iirc, I never played it myself) this could explain why there are so few demons to be seen in the DS3 trailer. They might just be banished or locked away, only to be released by Alant 'in the future'
Lots of speculation and I don't think it's likely myself, but what do you guys think about it?
You can play with SL100 people if you're at 120 as well.
You can be summoned (red soapstone) by SL100 players but you can't invade them if you're SL120. SL111 let's you invade them as well.
Really excited. I want to see what new magic is in the game
I felt like magic was given way too much attention in ds2. There are a lot of magic exclusive npc's in ds2 that don't even talk to you unless you have a lot of int and faith, magic exclusive areas, covenants, etc. A big number of levels are a fuckin pain for pure melee builds. Not to mention how op some of the spells are.

demons in demon's souls and dark souls are really different though
in demon's souls they're like a primeval force, they've always existed at the very least in the form of the Old One (who isn't God, talisman of beasts is a red herring) and perhaps the Maiden in Black. they consume souls and drive people mad. demons in dark souls (apart from a few exceptions) are just creatures transformed or created by the chaos flame, with no soul-draining (souls being different in dark souls and demon's souls as well) ability. they're not really a force of nature, rather than the result of someone fucking up

But thanks for clearing up

I am having so much fun this playthrough. This is my first playthrough on PC (did beat the game on 360 once) where I haven't cheated at all. Previous times I'd use cheat engine to give myself some souls or weapons or whatever. A few days ago I decided I'd do two things, play a sorcerer which I have never tried, and do this completely legit.
This is the most satisfying shit I'll tell you hwat
Also getting the moonlight greatsword was so frustrating. I didn't cut the tail until Seath had lost over half his health, just from me hitting his tail. Was really worried I'd accidentally kill him. In the end I cut off his tail, got the sword, then got cursed and died. But it was worth it.

OH a really interesting thing that happened this playthrough was I saw a small red vagrant. I had no clue what it was at first and stayed away. I regret that because once I figured it out it ran away and vanished. Turns out it would have dropped some really good shit if I killed it.
I'm sticking with my "destroy the sun" theory.
Really excited. I want to see what new magic is in the game
also found a youtube version of that 16min gameplay

The enemy at 2:40 is using the Wooden Shield from DS1.
http://darksouls.wikidot.com/wooden-shield
Note that DS1's Wooden Shield actually has a different emblem from the wooden shield in DS2.

the knights are hollow

So many openings left unused.
So many...
I really love the way it moves. And i'm glad the bit about the area catching fire was true.

Hey, the first time you go up against a boss in a souls game you don't throw in hits every time you think you see an opening, you play it safe and see what the boss has up it's sleeve for a bit, then you go in and get aggressive once you have some kind of idea what is being thrown at you.

that's a neat little addition.
