you're missing out then because the boss in that memory is one of the best
Dammit. Is there at least a Bonfire in the memory? I got into...the third room I think? Caged floors and all that and there were so many enemies, I didn't think I'd have enough time when I reached the boss. Also, got the Tiger of Eleum Loyce to half health without being able to see it. Now I can see it, can't hit shit on it because camera lock on anything you can stand beneath is a traitorous whore.
Matthewmatosis' Dark Souls commentary should be going up this month so look out.
I've been checking his channel for the past 2 months now for that commentary. That guy is just amazing.
I've seen people get so pissy about his videos, especially his DS2 critique and whining about how people take it like the word of god and honestly, it kind of is. He hit near every nail square on the head.

It can come off as nitpicking but honestly he just analyses everything in detail.

Big changes, even if you don't like them, are easy to understand and accept, the small changes are the ones you forget about until they trip you up and annoy you.
It doesn't take much to feel annoyed about nitpicky stuff because it is a pain to endure others' behavior.
remember seeing a picture in this thread a long time ago of a dude in the mask of the father being chased by several taurus demons. the dude was close to the camera and was very motion blurry. remember finding it hilarious, anybody still have it?

You wouldn't be surprised that some people wanted to deny the Drangleic Shield and Benhart Parma that were available in the Dks3 demo. And people denying Miyazaki's acceptance of 2
I didn't know so many people had trouble with that guy.
I was really cautious of those guys at first thinking they were DS2's equivalent of the Black Knights. But they're really a joke.
How are black knights not a joke though? They're just circlestrafe & backstab till infinity. If you're gud you'll use the laughably easy DS1 parry instead. As far as I'm concerned only the greataxe BK in the Catacombs is a challenge and that's because he drops into the wheel skelly room.
Um, no. [vid]https://d.maxfile.ro/oatvlcaskd.webm[/vid]
B-but halberd syan knights are the easiest to parry.
Aren't the pools of blood fake ones left by devs though? Because I'm pretty sure those never disappear.
If there's a lot of bloodstains in one spot then touching one of them will activate them all. Saves you the trouble of activating them individually one by one.

The DS2 guys (I don't know what they're called) on the other hand, before you encounter the first one you've fought Ironclads, the Persuer, and groups of Hollow Royals so those guys aren't nearly as much of a challenge by the time you see one.

I remember seeing pools of blood around chests that weren't mimics and had no surrounding enemies. I thought they were deliberately placed there to make the player think it was a trap when it wasn't.
They were probably killed by an invader.

I restarted shortly afterwards though and learned to parry in the tutorial.
Black Knight are slightly better than Syan for their impression (they're taller, more menacing and such) but other than that, it's not much. DS3 seems to have it better but since i've never tried it at gamescom, i can't tell.

And with the joining of NG and NG+ for online connectivity, you can see their ghosts.
Yes, new mimics appear in NG+. Easiest example is the chest in Majula in the tunnel passageway leading to the forest.
Just beat crown of the sunken king. What a pile of garbage. I would have been pissed if i paid 10 bucks for that shit.
What happened, man? I found Sunken King to be fuckin' choice when I played it.
What happened, man? I found Sunken King to be fuckin' choice when I played it.
uninspired/reused bosses and enemies, story seemed forced and doesn't tie in to the rest of the game, annoying sections, focus on ranged combat (super annoying when you have a melee only character), etc.
I didn't like it either. Tons of backtracking over and over, nonsensical map layout, I hated slogging through the endless maze of a level with almost no interesting loot or reward, just to get to a big boring stone tower filled with walking damage sponges that took three backstabs to down only to get to a boss that is almost immune to nearly every kind of damage I am capable of wielding. All three of the DLCs wind up doing the same thing, being a huge endless maze of shit with few rewards given for actually exploring it, and then almost every time to have to backtrack over it AGAIN to get all the hidden shit that was needlessly hidden from you the first time. What I liked about most of the levels in DS1 is that there actually felt like a REASON to do things. I can never put my finger on it, but somehow DS1 felt more like it was challenging you to beat the game. It tantalized you with cool weapons, satisfying combat, and the promise that by the time you got to the end you would have mastered your playstyle and gotten some kickass gear with which to kick ass. I always had the feeling that by the time I got past all the obstacles, there would be a reward, and most of the time there was. Boss weapons were pretty cool, and later in the game there were tons of cool armor sets and items. In DS2, 70% of boss weapons suck balls for anyone other than a filthy fucking hexer or mage. The bosses aren't a challenge, they're either too easy or they're bullshit with immunity to every kind of damage, and rather than a feeling of being challenged it just feels like the game is shoveling bullshit on top of your head with hordes of damagespongy enemies. The balancing is plain fucked. Filthy fucking hexers and mages get all the spells that do shitwads of damage, and can just stand in the corner and hurl spells at enemies and just wreck everything while anyone who mistakenly thinks that lightning spears are a cool fucking idea gets shat on when they realize that they do 300 damage at MOST (to enemies that are weak to lightning) and that they have the longest fucking cast time in the game (did I mention you only get three of them per attunement slot?). In multiplayer, no one bothers with the actually interesting dynamic of the Blue Sentinels/WOTB covenants because a) there's no fucking reason to stay in the WOTB after the first couple levels because they get nothing and b) Blue sentinels never get fucking summoned I'm just gonna cut it off here. DS2 is a decent game, but there's just so much that I hate about it, and it comes nowhere close to DS1 in my book.
nonsensical map layout,
...what? iirc it was one of the only large areas in the game to have an actual sensical layout and a return to DS1 form
Iron King is perhaps worse. Mainly due to the enemies and it having two run up to bosses. The run up to Smelter the Second is just... Bleh.

I thought the labyrinthian nature of the area was a fresh and welcome change from the very linear areas featured in the base game. The hidden secrets, switches, doors, and paths encouraged me to pay more attention to the environment than I did before. It felt more like I was exploring and plundering the faded and dusty ruins of a kingdom swallowed by the Earth itself, rather than following a rail and collecting consolation prizes as I went. I don't agree with your statement about the boss weapons though. I've found there to be an extremely healthy variety. I did a messy little tally of boss soul weapons on a wiki, and I found 14 str weapons, 11 dex weapons, 6 magic weapons, 5 faith weapons, 5 fire weapons, 7 dark weapons, 3 quality weapons, and 4 that didn't really fit into any category. Keep in mind that I categorized these based on whether they had any modifiers other than str or dex, so those 28 boss weapons that I did not categorize as elemental do not even possess small elemental damage modifiers. Only 23% of these weapons are for hexers and mages. This does not, however, count spells that you can get using boss souls, so that's something to consider. Regardless, consider giving the boss weapons another chance. You're right about faith builds though. They got hit real hard during the nerf, and it still doesn't make sense. I also think Dark Souls 1 was a better game, but mostly because it blows 2 out of the water in terms of storytelling and atmosphere. I just feel like you're being tougher on 2. Or, maybe, it's just... You know, opinions. :toot:
