Dark Souls and Demon's Souls Megathread VI. Katana Gank Squad Edition

I doubt the DX11 version will even bring many new graphical features over. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only thing that could be implemented is tessellation and that's not exactly something I think many people would notice.

I don't own DS2 and the above chart is why I don't intend on changing that anytime soon. I still haven't beaten DS1 (fuuuuuuuuck you Catacombs), but I'm in no rush to get the sequel while Soul Memory is still in there.
I really want to hear their justification as to why enemy placement requires buying the DX11 version. How hard could it be, seriously?
The few screenshots they've shown of the DX11 version honestly doesn't even look that different from what we have now. The whole remaster is just a waste of money from what I've seen so far.
Now if they were to actually bring the original lighting and shaders back from the alpha/ beta builds, THEN it might actually be considered a worthy purchase for me. But so far it looks basically the fucking same.
that's kinda stupid that the DX11 version won't let you use saves or do pvp with anyone using dx9 version
like honestly, there's no good reason for it. Even if you count new enemy placement that's a really stupid reason because that's something they could easily add to the regular version of DS2. They're really fucking up all of this, especially by making PC users pay for the graphics upgrade and adding all these limitations. It's like those download sites that make you wait 30 seconds for a gimped free download and want you to pay ~only a dollar a month!~ for the ~premium~ download.
That depends, if they redid some locations, not only would the user have both of them in the files, there also might be some stuff that affects framerate in the location, like more lightning and particle effects, the locations might be darker etc. Which isn't a good thing for lower end spec players.
I'll reserve my judgement ont that matter until i play the SoFS edition first.

new Scholar of the First Sin trailer is out

doesn't seem to be all that different graphically
looks like I'll be canceling my PS4 preorder and pick it up at a later time

Well, technically that is wrong, they have the source code so they could do anything from making it cell shaded to adding big anime eyes to all the spell bolts. Whether or not they'll do anything worth separating yourself from other PC players and losing all your saves, I highly doubt. I honestly don't know how they think the higher summon count is going to work with the player base being smaller. I have more than enough friends that play dark souls with me to throw together the summon count but I doubt they'd all get the new version
What I wanna see is some direct comparisons of the 2 pc versions graphically.

40$ for this? Ha-ha. Fromsoft went full Ubi.
If the mobs are shuffled considerably I might still pick it up just for feeling again the thrill of going through an area without knowing what to expect (assuming owners of the base game get a discount otherwise fuck that)
But splitting the playerbase like that was a fucking stupid idea

Well that certainly didn't convince me to buy the DX11 version...
I wouldn't mind it if they did a pricedown for each piece of content owned. Example:
Base game = 50%, an additional 10% off for each DLC owned = total possible discount: 80%
Allows them to gain some profit off of it, while the PC base gets a reasonable discount.

Pursuing you.

It would be boss if the Pursuers would actually roam the world now
Gotta love how Vengarl's body is now in Tark's Room, and Flexile Sentries are in waterways instead of the malformed creatures. I wonder how many people that's going to throw off in a new play-through.
It would be boss if the Pursuers would actually roam the world now
The Pursuer is now an enemy in the vein of the Anti-Piracy Scorpion from Serious Sam 3 where it has infinite health and will always follow you around.
Well the Pursuer was meant to actually live up to his name and pursue you. There was supposed to be a lot of encounters with them, but most were ultimately cut. I'd have loved it if they were random encounters and different each time.
Looks like they stuck to the director's fucked up theory that "More enemies = Difficulty"

Except they don't remove all your health in one hit and you regain it if you hit them quick enough after you've been hit.
It's a different style and honestly I'm fine with it.
By the way, the dragon head in Aldia's won't dissappear now it seems.

I'm talking about Scholar of the First sin, not Bloodborne. BB's system is rad, but the guy who directed DS2 is a moron.
I hope they at least add the unused Heide knight variants with SotFS because that's one of the few things that seems like it was too cool to cut. Heide knights were basically this game's black knights.

Oh, I thought you were talking BB.
Then you're absolutely correct.

Vein.
And that would mean that From Software hates and seeks to punish those who thought they wanted the re-release.
I made a Solaire cosplay build:

Its not super accurate outfit wise, but I like it.
What a overall pointless trailer and waste of money so far. Seriously, how has there not been a huge outcry over this? You're splitting the player base into three parts and charging them full price for it. If Ubisoft had done something this bad people would have been running around screaming at everything.
3 parts?
Softbanned, Not banned, New version.
Free patch, DX9 and DX11. I don't see why anyone would buy the DX9 version but it's still there.
