I did some datamining for the new patch. New items: http://pastebin.com/HYT2KUqa Changed item lore: https://www.diffchecker.com/1kdvi0iq ItemName.fmg: http://pastebin.com/1hvj4zMu SimpleExplanation.fmg: http://pastebin.com/xdhdtpPK DetailedExplanation.fmg: http://pastebin.com/2tw81vDb BonfireName.fmg: http://pastebin.com/qNu9C1LK MapName.fmg: http://pastebin.com/C8chLW4w Charaname.fmg: http://pastebin.com/ahqJ8ThS
Oh shit, I just realized the new patch is out. I was talking to Straid and browsing through his stuff when suddenly... !!!
[sp]leaning towards the latter myself, would make sense storywise to finally end the cycles[/sp]
[sp]I'm leaning more towards DLC, but that's only because DS2 wasn't a direct sequel (afaik) to DS1 so why would DS3 be a direct sequel as the ending sort of implies?[/sp]
And from what I've tested, it consumes ALL souls acquired, not just during online play (invasions, coop, etc). So you could potentially stop getting souls altogether with it.
It's a direct sequel of a sort, just thousands of years later.
My automerge. :T [editline]4th February 2015[/editline] GOD DAMMIT
It's a direct sequel of a sort, just thousands of years later.
so not really a direct sequel :v: I would imagine DS3 having something to do with [sp]your DS2 character failing to find a new way to get rid of the curse and shit hit the fan after that[/sp]
From what I've seen, [sp]Aldia[/sp] is just pasted wherever the Devs felt like it in an attempt to pad out the story.
Wait shit did the patch come out today?? I clicked this thinking it was something I already knew
Doop-dee-doo, just mindin' my own busine-WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU [t]http://cloud-4.steamusercontent.com/ugc/529506867150380876/FF274C95A1AAF5B72CA58F59E513C08BF4745F80/[/t] (I hope this isn't spoilers since we obviously already knew he was gonna' be added to the game)
[sp]I'm leaning more towards DLC, but that's only because DS2 wasn't a direct sequel (afaik) to DS1 so why would DS3 be a direct sequel as the ending sort of implies?[/sp]
[sp]DS1 = starting the cycle, DS2 = discovering the cycle, DS3 = ending the cycle? at least that's how I see the story arc panning out. otherwise the story feels a bit unfinished[/sp]
So from the new descriptions seems that the Last Giant is in fact the [sp]Lord of the Giants[/sp]. Deepest lore.
[sp]DS1 = starting the cycle, DS2 = discovering the cycle, DS3 = ending the cycle? at least that's how I see the story arc panning out. otherwise the story feels a bit unfinished[/sp]
That makes more sense
[SP]So how do you get the new ending?[/SP]
Has anyone noticed [sp] How the outlines around some bonfire locations now have some orange outlines to them? I'm racking my brain trying to understand what it means, because it definitely doesn't mean bosses or all of the bonfires you've found. I'm thinking it could also be "100% completion" but that'd be wrong too. [/sp]

Started a new game, decided to use all spears, why the fuck didn't i mess with these before? This is awesome.
How come I can still see large summon signs now in Drangleic Castle despite Nashandra being dead?
so can ng people pvp with ng+ people now?
I've made my investigation into the patch. [sp]The only items that change are the ones regarding Vendrick in some way, but they add nothing new, they're just synonyms of their previous descs. Nothing surrounding the rest of the game. The Rotten's hasn't changed (at least for me; could that pic have been fake?) They also repositioned the first bonfire of the Undead Crypt, where of course the Scholar will appear when you first discover the area in a new game.[/sp] I hope 1.10 is only a sneak peek into the final - imo it's hopeless, they are asking for the same amount of money to add nothing lorewise.
How come I can still see large summon signs now in Drangleic Castle despite Nashandra being dead?
ahaha, Hahaha, AHAHAAHAH... eheh
[sp]First thing I noticed is that now after beating nashandra there's a bright light you need to interact with to end the game so I assume there's something you need to do before interacting with it to get the second ending[/sp]
So I just started playing DS2 for the first time today. Can anyone recommend to me the best point in the story to start doing each of the Crowns DLC? Are they simply things that I can just put off until the last minute to do or are there points in the base game's story where it would make sense to do a specific DLC... That aren't "the last minute"?

They're quite harder than the areas you find them in so if it's your first time playing and you're having a hard time you'll probably want to do the latter

That's pretty much what I did with the Abysswalker DLC for the first one, though I did save the fight with Sif in the base game (and New Londo) for after doing the DLC just to see the changed cutscene.
I'd go with last, they're way harder than everything else so it makes sense to do them once your character's prepared.
How come I can still see large summon signs now in Drangleic Castle despite Nashandra being dead?
Okay, so I've heard the reason for this is because [sp]there's another new final boss after Nashandra and defeating it gives you a new ending[/sp], but nothing ever happens when I enter the throne room. Even if I pop a bonfire ascetic to respawn Nashandra, nothing happens after her defeat. What gives? [sp]And if it's true that Aldia is the new final boss, then I've heard that you have to talk to Aldia in all 3 of his locations first before defeating Nashandra and that will trigger his boss fight after hers, but I did that and still nothing happened. Does it have to be on a completely new character that has never fought Nashandra before?[/sp] And even if that is the case, then why the fuck would my characters see large summon signs for a boss that doesn't exist? 8T
