Straid takes half of the souls, Ornifex takes the other. I've noticed that Straid takes mostly the first half of the games boss souls and Orny takes the latter half and optional bosses.

Ah. So my aspirations to get the King's Shield will probably have to wait until the next playthrough then, huh?
EDIT: It's funny to see how apparently accidentally killing Onrifex is a common mistake, judging from the fact that it shows up in google search when typing in "dark souls 2 accidentally".
Playing Demon's Souls and just finished all the -2 levels, and wow this game feels significantly easier after having played Dark Souls first. As a melee only build, the only parts that I've had a lot of trouble with so far was were 1-2, and that annoying as fuck octopus-head on the way to the Maneater boss.
Edit:
Oh, and I guess the descent to Flamelurker, because it seemed as though if I fell 50 feet I took hardly any damage, but if I fell like 52 feet I died.
You know, I hadn't thought about using the bone fist left-handed with any other weapon except another fist weapon. How's it perform? Looks to me like it would be a fantastic way to diversify your moveset.
I like to be an asshole and stunlock people with my stupid punches that can stagger even people wearing full Havels and then follow it up with unavoidable rapier pokes. Kills most losers every time lol.
And I also like to dive kick people off cliffs. [sp]Or sometimes I miss and dive right off the cliff myself[/sp] :v:

Can't you visit her tombstone and pay souls to temporarily revive her? I'm fairly certain you can do that. So I wouldn't worry too much.
It took a while, but I finally was able to kill the 4 Kongs in NG++. They were easy in the first two playthroughs but OH MAN they can do damage in the third.

My strategy for them has always been to just use Power Within and tank the balls off of them while two handing my strongest weapon. It worked really well in NG+, then I fought them in NG++, had Power Within run out right before the fourth Kong spawned, and got wrecked immediately. I died against them a few more times before I realized I could just equip another Power Within in my extra attunement slot :v:
I always get hit. How do I stop getting hit? I always put lots of points into agility, and I have like 1000 hours of playtime, but I always get hit.
Spoilers for the new final boss:
So I just fought [sp]Aldia.[/sp]Was a pretty cool boss. But the exciting part was getting to there.
Asceticed the Throne to refight Throne dudes and Nashandra. Throne guys took like an hour because I was rusty. Nash was easy as usual. But then nothing happened when I beat her.
Then I found out [sp]Aldia[/sp] only appears if you beat Nashandra AFTER you beaten Venderick. So I had to beat Venderick, use another ascetic for the Throne, and re-fight a intensity 5 Throne duo and Nashandra. It took 2 hours just for the Throne duo alone, but it was worth it since I enjoyed fighting [sp]Aldia.[/sp]

Huh. When you put it like that...
I wonder. Perhaps I could wield a bone fist with a katana, and make a Samurai Jack build...
Can anyone help me with this? I've got dsfix and want to use x360ce so I can use my PS2 controller.
But it's not working.
I try to use dll chaining with dsfix, but when launching Dark Souls it gives me a C++ runtime error(R6030 -CRT not initialized).
Has anybody encountered this problem before that could give some insight?
I think this is the only fight on NG+5 where my NPC summons don't get their health too low :v:

If you kill her at her first location, I don't think she ever moves so she never becomes available as a smith.
And in response to the guy you quoted, it's common to kill her because From took a pain in the dick enemy from the first game and made one into an important resource for the player. A DS vet playing for the first time is pretty likely to just swing at her.
In a Souls game the easiest way to find out if a character is an enemy or not is to try to lock onto him. If you can't, at least its not hostile yet.

Shit's getting real. First two drops inside Drangleic Castle was Syan's Helmet and Armor, going further down towards the Undead Crypt.
Sadly I got NPC invaded just as two Archdrake Mages cheesed me to hell and back and got promptly shat on because magic. Wasn't exactly ready for it. :v:
Gotta prepare before I continue later today.

Are you using the newest DSfix?
Are you using the newest DSfix?
Yes, and with the steamworks update. Without the DLL chaining both DLLs work individually O.K.
So how many changes did Scholar of the First Sin make?

lol I killed the Fume Knight so fast on my Suspicious Shadow cosplay build that he couldn't even buff before he died. First time I've ever done that.

I thought we were getting a few new NPC's besides the scholar.
That's disappointing.

Dark Souls 2's slogan.
I'm not proud of what me and my friend are doing in Iron keep, but we hide using talismans and gank unaware magic spammers/cheese builds.
We spare friendlies and some invaders even join us. It's fun especially when a red and a blue invade at the same time and they start fighting each other, then the two innocent pots backstab them.
Once the invaders tried running away to the alonne knights and we started a white phantom/host/blue sentinel/red invader/alonne knights battle, it was a confusing but we won.

no, they just said one

What's your in-game name, by the way? I fought a person (I think it was Blot?) in the BoB arena today who was dressed up as a Suspicious Shadow. I was dressed up as a royal soldier.
Why are there a lot of people reported in Lost Bastille, Harvest Valley, and Earthen peak?
Am I below average soul memory to be at Black Gulch? I have ~800K currently, and already beaten the other 3 "Old Ones".
Ok wait I have a question about the Covenant of Champions now. If they allow enemies to respawn after being defeated, does this include enemies like the warlock in the Shrine of Amana or the Painting Guardian in Aldia's place?
Enemies that wouldn't normally respawn when killed once still don't respawn

Are you in CoC? And did you previously kill them to extinction before joining?
Yes and no
Odd then. Maybe a bug? Only other thing I can think of is that the change doesn't apply to pre-patch characters, and only new ones made after updating.
