They don't respawn
Weird, I could've sworn I went down there once and saw them again. I must have used an ascetic without realizing it.
You can use a bonfire ascetic at the first bonfire in Black Gulch to respawn the elite giants in the cave below. Do NOT ascetic the second bonfire - it will still respawn the giants, but they will not drop the soul that way. For some reason only the first one will let them drop it again.
That's good to know. Now I can hold off on killing the Ancient Dragon until I'm sure I can withstand his fire effectively.

He remains one if the only two bosses i've never killed. Also get a Gyrm Greatshield. 100% fire resist.
... Okay, seems like the Scholar Of The First Sin update got rid of the Giant Soul farming strategy that was suggested. That stinks.
Got invaded 3 times at the bastille, basically back to back, each one within minutes of respawning.
3 poison whip users
Drangleic Castle is a hotspot right now, people taking advantage of all the people scrambling to get summoned for Aldia.
has anyone been getting any summons/invasion or any online in DS1? last couple times I played it was completely dead on both NG and NG+.
3 weeks in and I still can't stay connected to the Dark Souls 2 servers. looks like I won't be able to get mad at ds2 until spring break :v:

I've killed so many people trying to queue up for Aldia's boss fight. Invading there is so damn hilarious right now.

When I was playing DkS1, I got invaded 3 times by the same dude in Anor Londo. I'm pretty sure that if there was a way to talk to people in Dark Souls, he would've been like, "this dumbass again?"
I'm currently doing a mostly bow run in DaS2 right now. After that I was going to something else similar in DaS1.
Anyone have suggestion. Currently I have already done sword and board, Zwei, and dual daggers.
Fists only, no exceptions.
Also, I accidentally uninstalled DSfix. Can anyone else give me a link to the latest version?

I would have quit if he died at the end, i swear.
How do you trigger the Aldia fight? Kill vendrick?

Lit all primal bonfire, undead crypt, dragon shrine and vendrick kill.
something similar to this has killed several of my speedruns
I was co-oping with my friends and he managed to snap this picture of me seconds before shit hit the fan.

It's hard to see, but I was doing the "This one's me!" emote.

You also have to do this all before you fight Nashandra. If you have already beaten her, a Bonfire Ascetic can work.

It's funny how you can tell how experienced some players are by what they're wearing.
You start off the game wearing heavy armor, a big greatshield and a powerful weapon to tank your way through the game. Then after multiple playthroughs you get good enough at the game that you don't even need that stuff anymore and start running around butt naked with a rapier. :v:

Experts know that armor doesn't matter when you can be killed in a hit so they play Fashion Souls.
Imo rapiers are for people who don't actually want to PvP for more than 20 seconds

Only Rapier I've used is the Ice Rapier because of the projectile, but I'm not into thrusting weapons.
I love Syan's Halberd, Loyce Greatsword and the combo Fume Sword-Drakekeeper Sword.

Honestly use it just for PvE, if i happen to kill an invader with it, i just go with "I'm sorry" carve.
Either way i would pick Estoc.
But now there's the Ice Rapier so meh.
Estoc is the only thrusting sword you need.
STR rapier - best rapier.
Sun Sword is nice too.
So I've finally decided to try a Dex build in DS1.
Balder Swag Sword is love.
The only thing that utterly piss me off about dark souls is parries
You know the kind, people wearing the tankiest or with the most poise armor in the game using nothing but a buckler. Doesn't matter how many times he fucks up the timing by just spamming it, all it takes is him getting it right once, equip the heaviest weapon he got and one shot you.
Weapons have different parry windows for a reason and bypassing it like that as far as I'm concerned is the equivalent of exploiting

2hand a marakumo or literally any ultra greatsword, they literally cannot be parried.
Well, I killed the Ancient Dragon. It took a while, but I managed to nail down a decent strategy. Apparently, when you attack his front-right paw from the side (while under him), he spends more time trying to stomp you (attacks which I found easily dodged, most of the time) than he does trying to torch you. When he does fly up to do the aerial flame, I would run towards his tail, that usually got me out of harms way in time. His "stand and breath fire between his legs" attack was confusing at first, but once I learned to dodge that I realized it made him open to a few whacks at his hind paws. It wasn't a perfect strategy, one mistake would still lead to a one-hit kill, but it worked.
After beating him, I healed myself up and restored my humanity for a nice victory screenshot. I wanted to get a pose in for the "victory achieved" graphic but I was too slow for that. Still, here's a nice shot of the now-empty boss chamber:
