One thing i love about the Souls series (and BB) is the simple but really powerful names the player character has. The Slayer of Demons, the Chosen Undead, the Bearer of the Curse and the Hunter. Simple, but a heavy burden given what all you go through as each of them.

Does anyone else really hate the Emerald Maiden?

I started a new dex character yesterday and today I joined the Cat covenant and invaded some person who was assumingly way higher level than me(I was 33 att) and joined just before the other guy who was there brutally murdered the invadee and I got 150000 souls(my pocket souls were 4-15k souls at a time) I leveled up from 33 to 48 and my health bar grew by around 40-60 percent. I also was able to upgrade from my Scimitar +5 to a Falchion +7. This shouldn't have happened, I don't know if I should feel good about this.

So many times i was pushed out of the co-op SM range of friends because of invaders. DS1 it's not so bad, free souls but in DS2 it becomes nightmarish if you're co-oping.

And yeah, the steamworks patch is live now.

You have to be human (which requires spending a humanity) to see others' white summon signs. However, when you're human, you are also subject to PVP invasions. The person laying down their sign to be summoned can be hollow, they don't need to be human.

dsfix still works on dk1 right?

Yes.

More or less. The later PVP stuff differs in the small details (I guess, not an expert on the late-game covenants). No human effigies in DaS1. People kindling bonfires gives you a one-time free estus. If you avoid killing the Hellkite Drake, you can cheaply farm ~500 souls every 30 seconds or so by running out onto his bridge and then ducking for cover when he breathes fire, and jumping down to the central bonfire, resting, and climbing back up to start over. You'll have to get out to the middle of the bridge from above first, though. To become a sunbro, you need to get past the drake to the other side of the bridge (you can do this by coaxing the dragon out to the middle to fight you, and then fucking off into the Sunlight Altar. Once you get in there and open the gate you can skip dealing with the drake's horseshit entirely (except for the handy but tedious soul farming). I always thought it was a horrible idea to have covenants level via online play. Not to say online covenants are bad, i mean more like those covenants become essentially impossible to complete within reasonable means once the game dies.

I've found it easier to level up dragon covenant, because it let's you place a sign down in PvP hotspots. Despite the game only having around 3k people playing, there's still quite a lot of people in areas such as the forest, Oolacile, and Dark Anor Londo to an extent.

Can you still level up the gravelord covenant via online play? Isn't it broken or something and the only way to get eyes of death is through pve loot?

So 1 named Jolly co op invades me 200k sm with ice rapier and full crown :v 1 named trusty patches uses Targal's halberd which i don't get it. Lots of quality builds making my Vorgel cosplay look lazy :v:
