doesn't that ring just absorb souls from player kills? i think if you coop and kill enemy ai it'll still be added to your SM.
Yeah unfortunately the patch notes made it seem like that, which is a shame because if it absorbed souls from everything it'd almost be a complete solution (I posted a list earlier in the thread of the items that can't be obtained by farming at all, and it was mostly just weird arrow types)
As underhanded as this re-release seems, I really goddamn like Darksouls and the content that From software puts out, and am more inclined to give them my money anyway. Unless the re-release gets a backlash for being awful somehow, I'm probably going to buy it. I at least feel like my money is going towards a quality developer.
It's the new enemy placement that i'm interested in more than anything, i wonder if that also includes item placement?. But i won't be getting a PS4 till later just so i don't get too distracted while trying to get stuff done for college. I'll miss out on release day Bloodborne but i want to really play it safe if i'm buying a new console for it.
DS1's Steamworks multiplayer seems to look at the specific Steam CDN you're on and nothing further away. If I'm on Steam's Vancouver server I cannot play with someone who's in Seattle despite the ping difference being under 10ms. I wanted more granularity than GFWL's "Japan" and "everywhere but Japan" region selection, but fucking hell this is way too specific. I imagine this is less of a problem in countries where there's only one Steam content server...unless you want to play with international friends. I also have a Steam nickname with weird unicode characters in it due to a clan tag I didn't decide; if I don't change my nickname, anyone who tries to read my summon sign instantly crashes to desktop. However, if I log in without changing my name, then change my name and drop my summon sign, when I join someone, they see my name displaying properly. The steamworks beta has somehow made my DS experience worse. On the upside, I haven't had any summons fail, I just don't see any unless I change my CDN to somewhere in the US.
I burned an ascetic the sinner's bonfire so i could get the pyro soul for flame weapon (which its all done and dusted and its a cool buff, especially for pve) in that fight the pryomancers didnt spawn. whats up with that? did they patch it out or something? maybe its only ng+ and not just the intensity being at 2? i stuck near the entrance fog for the fight, so my thought its a touch floor based trigger to spawn them. but he was sitting at half hp for quite a bit and they never popped out, even after i beat the fight
The Pyromancers only spawn in NG+ but you still get the Old Witch Soul for killing the Sinner.
New patch for DaS1 removed the region lock. Back to Lordran, baby!
So did I get this right? All the big changes (like relocated enemies and stuff) are only present in the SoFS version that you have to buy, even if you had dark souls 2 and the DLCs before they released the patch and everyone else who just goes for the "free update" after purchasing dark souls 2 a while ago only gets some minor balances and stuff? (minor only because I haven't kept track of all the miracle nerf stuff and so on, I don't really know how big that change is.)

Vaati's videos are really getting worse. He's still harping on with the generic "Light is good, dark is bad" crap, which flies in the face of loads of characters and their stories. Now he's even added some shit about how the lord souls were "Souls of light, dark, life, and death", when the Dark Soul was the only one ever noted as being different from the others, and even that was just because the furtive pygmy hid it away rather than using it to get crazy power. It really takes away from the characters when he acts as though they're just being controlled like puppets for their souls. Like the Witch of Izalith was somehow always supposed to create demons.
Thanks to the new update today, DKS1 now crashes on start up. Fix one thing, break another. Jesus christ.
When you finally invade someone this shit happens [t]http://i.imgur.com/um07Aig.png[/t]
Thanks to the new update today, DKS1 now crashes on start up. Fix one thing, break another. Jesus christ.
If you have Dsfix try updating it to the newest version (2.4 I believe). Now that there is no region lock it's much better pvping. Had more invasions in the span of an hour more than I've had on an entire day on GFWL.

2.4 also might be the last version needed, because now it searches through the game's code for what it needs to modify instead of being hardcoded to modify specific addresses.
Anybody know what DS2 does this every now and then? This is the only game I've ever played that's done this. [vid]http://a.pomf.se/sitsqn.webm[/vid]
The only game i've ever come close to having that happen too was Oblivion with some color artifacting and it melted my graphics card the next day. Sad day for a young boy.
That looks like a video card crying for help. Or a graphics driver that doesn't like the game. If you're not up to date, especially if you're really out of date, I'd update them. I'd monitor your temperatures while playing to see if there's any correlation when this happens, just in case.

[vid]http://a.pomf.se/sitsqn.webm[/vid]
That could very well mean your graphics card is dying. Though it could just be some dumb bug. Worry if it starts to happen more often or in other games.

[vid]http://a.pomf.se/sitsqn.webm[/vid]
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but that's very likely your graphic card biting the dust Clean up your computer if you haven't done it recently, but eventually it'll stop working altogether

[vid]http://a.pomf.se/sitsqn.webm[/vid]
Seriously recommending monitoring some temperatures like elixwhitetail said. The last time that happened to me my card was drastically overheating. I got a couple more years out of the card by opening my laptop and cleaning it up but that's pretty severe
That could very well mean your graphics card is dying. Though it could just be some dumb bug. Worry if it starts to happen more often or in other games.
My gpu is only about 1.5 years old and I clean it regularly. I guess that it could start to go nuts around this time. I haven't had any issues with other games though so I'm sure it's still got quite a lot of life in it. [editline]19th January 2015[/editline] And temps are only around 45-50C so I'm not worried about that.

Sometimes parts just say "Fuck you" and die. [editline]19th January 2015[/editline] But given what you've reported it's probably just a driver issue.
If it does shit itself I can pick up a 960 pretty easily. I actually wouldn't be that bothered by it that much.
Am I supposed to have 5 souls of a giant without killing ancient dragon? I'm in NG+ and I just realised I collected 5 in NG but I only need 4 for Vendrick
Am I supposed to have 5 souls of a giant without killing ancient dragon? There's no effect past 5 though, so just use them after that

[vid]http://a.pomf.se/sitsqn.webm[/vid]
That is quite honestly the most terrifying thing I have ever seen. I would be so pissed off if my graphics card were to suddenly choke up like that; those fuckers are too pricey as hell for that.
How much are they charging for the upgrade? because if it's more than $10 I'm not paying them shit, I already spent $50 on the damn game in the first place, I shouldn't have to pay again just for them to finish it. also, are the DLCs really worth the extra $25 for the season pass or should I just keep playing regular DS2 and wait for the next sale

So you're paying for the whole base game a second time.
