Additionally, as I mentioned a couple of times, to me the enemy movement doesn't seem like just flooding the player with tons of enemies but rather brought a new setup that, just like in Dark Souls 1, would require a more cautious approach, since you can avoid many traps by scanning your environment before rushing into battle.
I think the thing I like the most about dark souls games is that often they feel more like a puzzle than a fighting game
And really I read sometimes people complaining about "unavoidable deaths" but the truth is there are very few instances of that happening in DS2 (the only ones I can think of is your first encounter with a mimic, and the hippo smashing through the second door in Aldia's keep), all other instances can be avoided by being careful and observing, rather than marching on expecting to always be able to survive AFTER springing a trap or walking into an ambush
Besides, the whole idea behind dark souls is learning from failure

I couldn't help myself.
Been running through DS1 again since it was moved out of GFWL and onto steam. It's amazing how much progress I've made in such a little time compared to my original blind play through. Now I'm so much more familiar with these types of games and knowing where I'm going in general makes such a difference.
I think in 2-3 hours I've done what took me 8 or more hours on my original play through.
I would've liked to continue on with my old character but I lost all 25 hours of progress because I must've missed the window to sign into GFWL and get my char. Feels good starting again though so I'm not too bothered.
Once I finish DS1 I'll carry on with DS2
Probably because they're Heide Knights and they're sitting at Heide's Tower of Flame.
Thanks I know that but from a gameplay perspective, they didn't even remove any Old Knights its a fucking cluster fuck.
Thanks I know that but from a gameplay perspective, they didn't even remove any Old Knights its a fucking cluster fuck.
The "simple" reason was that the Old Knights took over Heide's with the help of a supposed ancient Dragonrider. The Way of Blue is sheltered in the Cathedral guarded by a Drake (Dragonrider's pet?) and Dragonslayer so you don't see Old Knights there.
Or time distortion... i guess :v:
TIME IS CONVOLUTED remembers guys? Remember when we hammered that point in repeatedly? About time being convoluted?
if your playing atm pls place a summon in the tower apart, noone seems to bother placing them in the bastile or im too high/low level

Tower apart on SotFS needs a fragrant branch of yore to progress so most people dont take sentinels till a bit later on
i was getting my arse kicked by the additional pursuer fights, although by that point you should have enough fragrant branches to open that path. just after posting a bunch of there were a bunch of summons, so i did both pursuers and the sentinals with 3 people also the dragon/knight. i love ds2 even if you cheese it it still feels great
Iron peak is starting to drive me insane. SoTFS just packed the room with the lowering platform full of Alonne captains, so now there are great arrows flying at me from everywhere! And if I don't kill everyone, they chase me all the way to the turtle knight blocking the bonfire.
Turns out, it was my weapon choice that was making it so difficult. I switched from the Grand Lance to the Craftsman's Hammer, and I got through easily.

Dodge left, now and forever, dodge left.

After playing DS1 I made sure I always hit chests at least once before trying to open them, and so mimics didn't get me in DS2. As for the Ogre in Aldia's keep, there's an item that can be picked up to the right of the door. Getting close enough to pick up that item will trigger the ogre, and he'll completely miss you and give you a chance to attack him as he picks himself back up. So I guess that's an instance in which it's possible to survive, but more by luck than caution.

I also find circling lazily to the right avoids almost all of his attacks.

They changed that, picking up the item no longer triggers his attack.

I never understood why so many people say dodge left. Taking 2-3 steps to the right dodges every move he does except the 3 hit combos.
someone invaded me in drangleic castle and destroyed my summoned aid. i ran off, added them on steam and told them i was out of bounds. but im just a hide and seek master. how long will he run around my world trying to find me?
They changed that, picking up the item no longer triggers his attack.
Sure it does. I just completed my playthrough. Worked just fine for me.
TIME IS CONVOLUTED remembers guys? Remember when we hammered that point in repeatedly? About time being convoluted?
The official guide explicitly says about time distortion on the Heide Knights so there's no break
So I'm having a bit of doubts whether to buy Bloodborne or just go for DS2 SotFS first... I guess the game is still really active? (Also, how's controller support?)
I'd go Bloodborne if you already have ds2 and its dlc

I haven't got any of the games, though I used to have Dark Souls 1 for PS3, but sold that.

If you didn't play DS2 at all, I'd recommend going for SotfS, I don't quite like what I've seen from bloodbourne but oh well. Can't tell you which game is better, I just prefer like everything in dark souls more.
Time for the SotfS Caestus run now, watch out for Bone Lee

I will strive to find the strength needed to become his very rival!
Edit:
I never knew you could summon Creighton the Wanderer for the Skeleton Lords?
One thing I really like about SotFS is you can summon [sp]Masterless Glencour[/sp] in Belfry Luna.

So many npc summons which i honestly like.
I've been watching my flatmate play the new version on PS4, wow they just stuffed the levels right up with random amounts of more enemies. Thank god they fixed the durability bug so that you can actually have a weapon to fight the more enemies.
Oh wait.
can you access smelter demon from the second bonfire shortcut?
