Hey guys, I'm thinking about getting ds2 scholar for ps3 in exchange for a few used games, but... Does the game play too much like arse on ps3? I dont have a ps4 and my pc is more of a hassle than anything else, so its ps3 or nothing...
Is he a master of karate, and friendship, for everyone?
You bet he is, and in addition to that, he's the fighter of the Nightman and the Champion of the sun!
A friends ps3 recently broke and he gave me demons souls, but damn, it feels so much harder then dark souls which I finished on pc. I killed the first boss (the black tarthing with a glowstick in the middle) and got to the 2nd area, but there are 2 blue eyed knights that just rape me. Anyone got any tips on an "easy" build for my first playthrough? I'm just using a shortspear right now and put some levels into vitality.

Well, Alonne is a real dick. I bowed to him as I got in, and then he just charged me. I dodged the attack, but damn, you'd think this bushido motherfucker would have the sense of honor to at least nod his head. Also killed Smelter 2.0. Why do all the DLC bosses seem way easier without summons? Or is it just that all the summons I find are really incompetent?
well i mean, boss hp scales with the amount of summons you have

Abbess Feeva, Steelheart Allie and Carhillion of the Fold come to mind
I never know how much agility to get
Get it around at least 95, 100+ to be safe
How do i join the [sp]Sun covenant? You'll have to deal with the dragon somehow[/sp]. If Dark Souls 2, [sp]when you're coming up on Earthen Peak, after you kill the first fat green dude, go up to the door to the Peak but follow the path left[/sp]. I can't speak for DS1, but in DS2 you get [sp]one of the best weapons in the game[/sp] for ranking up with them, so I always do it.
Aren't there other ways to get Hidden Magic Weapon in dks2? Does it have to be rank 2 Bell covenant? I hate joining them :v:
Isn't SotFS only on the PS4 and not the PS3? You can only get the regular DS2 on that platform.
Its basically ds2 + dlc + bonus features - technical improvements like dx11 stuff Dont have the game tags that came with the wrappers, fml
Welp, just beat Scholar of the First Sin. Now I have to ask myself: was it worth the money? My answer? No. But I guess it might be worthwhile to those who haven't played the original DS2 or acquired the DLC's. Who's that one character who looks like a knock-off Artorias that's on the Steam version of DS2?
Who's that one character who looks like a knock-off Artorias that's on the Steam version of DS2?
You mean the Forlorn?
Does anyone else hate the spear soldier hollows with every fiber of their being? Mostly because if they hit me once they will ALWAYS hit me three times. Instead of stunlocking me, why can't they just kill me?
I picked up Scholar of the First Sin and it's actually been pretty refreshing to go back into DS2. The enemy placement is kind of rough in some of the early areas, but it seems to even out later by fixing some of the more annoying spots further in the game. I'm at the Harvest Valley now. I'm currently trying to bait one of those giants into destroying the wall behind him for some items, but it's always a pain in the ass. Is there a trick to making him do it? I've tried baiting him but he just shoots a projectile point blank or melees me without hitting the wall or moving closer.
Goddamn it Belltower at high sm is the worst feeling ever.

I personally stand in front of him so he backs up into the wall and then move in close to bait his melee.
I have a flynns ring + stone ring + ring of blades build using a fire broken straight sword + 10 and flame weapon on it. I'm wearing the best physical armor I can for flynns to do max damage and using the blue tear stone ring. I'm winning 9/10 duels, red signs and invasions. The real strength of the bss is that you can swing forever without running out of stamina. If someone decides to turtle you just swing over and over again until they run out of stamina and you're able to riposte them.
Oh great, I somehow lost the fragrant branch they now give you at the bird end of the Lost Bastille. Haven't used any on a statue, and both chests are open.

So its been a while. I've been rummaging the dark forest/dark basin area because I had no idea what I had to do or where to go next. Found a secret area thanks to some signs and found Eastern Armor and Elite Armor, which is too heavy for my tastes but keeping it for later. Killed a giant butterfly on my first go, which I was amazed at. Thankfully I brought a metric ton of wood arrows and pelted the bastard from a distance. Got the ember thingy but so far I can't use it with the blacksmith for anything so whatever. I did use the souls I got from the butterfly to buy the seal of Astorwhatever and proceeded to get my ass beat so hard I got a tattoo of it. Figured that wasn't the place to be. Backtracked for a bit, remembered that door by Solaire I couldn't open earlier, so I went back, but not before remembering something from watching speedruns: dragon tail. Decided to set up shop under the bridge and pelted it with arrows until I got a neat sword that I can't use. :toot:? Anyway, ran through the burg again and opened the door by Solaire. Huzzah, a new place! And then I'm greeted by some ugly-as-sin dogs which die pretty fast. Yay, I'm going the right way! Met a mage dood, but I'm not a mage so he's useless to me. At least he's nice. The weird hooded guys that stab you are pretty fast are annoying and I had a mini-heart attack when one of them sliced my neck. Thank goodness it doesn't kill you right away like the knights in the bell tower. Anyway, treaded lightly around area, got a lot of help from signs about ambushes and stuff. And then I found 'it'. The Capra Demon. I had heard so many terrible things about this guy. Stepped on my asshole the second I came through the door. "Okay, I can do this, just gotta grab my souls and dodge his shitty dog pals," I tell myself. Blocking him was fruitless as it would destroy me. After dealing with the dogs, I noticed something: He takes forever to get up after jumping. I realized "wait a second, if I can't beat him fair and square, I'll beat him my way!" And sure enough, he died from chasing me up stairs. Like a terrifying version of Yakkity Sax. I won, though, so yay! Now I'm in some scary sewers and there are a ton of rats and some asshole with a giant meat cleaver that nearly killed me. And that one spell caster that dances a lot. And a giant rat I sniped from above because it was scary-looking. Got a lot of souls though!
I had him kill the wall with a dark ball.
Finally got it, thanks for the tips everyone. There's a surprising amount of stuff back there. Now I think I'm stuck at the Iron Keep. Can't quite beat that first boss and all the enemies converging on me before it have a decent chance of kicking my ass. Any advice? Right now I'm using a Broadsword +7, Dragenlic Shield +2, Elite Knight Armor set that's +3-+4, and a +5 or +6 Mace, can't remember. The Broadsword's been alright, but I'm starting to feel like it's losing its effectiveness. What would you guys recommend for a STR/DEX/FTH build? I'd prefer to stick with a straight sword if I can.

I'd prefer to stick with a straight sword if I can.
If you're willing to put up with obnoxious amounts of farming, you can get a heide knight straight sword off of the heide knights. Has C/C/C scaling for Str, Dex, and Fth, so it sounds like this is exactly what you're looking for. I won't lie to you though. Those heide knights are a bitch to farm, and the drop rates are low, so bulk up on item drop equipment, and don't be afraid to pop rusted coins. I promise you though, that the lightning damage is the bane of Ol' Smelty's existence. You could also try acquiring the stone ring, by killing the ogre in Things Betwixt, just before the Old Womens' house. The extra poise damage may allow you to stun-lock the Alonne knights in Iron Keep more effectively, assuring safe(r) passage.
Yeah, I've been trying to farm them at Heide's Tower since there's a ton of them there now. Naturally I get a couple of spears and not the sword. :v: I haven't tried using anything to boost drop rates yet, I probably should. My Mace actually makes short work of the Iron Keep knights for the most part, 2-3 hitting them; I think it's just the sheer volume of them that can jump you at once that messes me up. I could try and go somewhere else for a bit and come back, but I think the other areas would just be even harder.
