So I got invaded for the first time. I was going human so I could summon Solaire for the garg fight. The second I walked away from the bonfire area, I noticed fogwalls surrounding most of the area. "Hm, that's queer. Those weren't there before. I wonde--" Dark Spirit <name here> has invaded your world! My heart immediately began pounding as I was not expecting to get invaded so soon. Worse yet, I aggro'd the mini-boss in Parish guarding the Fire Keeper soul. I managed to beat him just in time, finding out my +5 Enchanted axe does a buttload of damage in this part of the game, which is good. Then I found the invader. Wrapped in what looked like the rags of a caster you find before the Bed of Chaos fight, he came towards me with a drinky knife. My honkingly huge shield shrugged it off and I managed to get a good swipe in, taking a fair chunk of his life. He stood still for a second and I noticed half of my health disappear in an explosion. "Oh fuck, this guy isn't dicking around," I tell myself as he gets caught in a corner. I take my chance and powerswing my axe into his face, leaving him with almost no HP left. He keeps circling me and I just keep my guard up until he makes a fatal mistake: dodging into a wall. I swing my axe just moments after his invuln frames end and I killed him before he got a second chance. Needless to say, I took his humanity and threw myself off a cliff. No need for that kind of action when I just wanna have fun. On the upside, I beat the gargs solo. My axe is my best friend so far!
Why did you threw yourself off the cliff? The way I remembered it we used to throw the other guys off a cliff
https://vid.me/Mk7e
well, he had the chance to escape and estus but instead he decided to taunt the NPC.
well, he had the chance to escape and estus but instead he decided to taunt the NPC.
I think that was more of a "welp, I guess that's that" than a taunt.
Well, after countless hours of salt and seething anger, I've finally trudged my way through Demon's Souls, beginning to end. I even maxed out black tendency in every world, and fought every NPC phantom. So now, having the whole game's experience behind me, having done it all, I can finally say it. 6/10 at best, "hard" parts were mostly cheap kills, the rest wasn't that difficult at all. Yeah yeah, sure, it's the first souls game, so of course it's going to be the roughest around the edges. All I'm saying is is that I'm definitely going to replay both Dark Souls 1 and 2 many more times in the future- but I can't say the same for Demon's Souls.
I'm sorry to hear that you didn't like it that much! It's definitely easy with a few cheap kills, but I think where it really shines is atmosphere and level design (with a few really neat boss mechanics too), it's got a lot of little details that really flesh everything out and make an immersive experience. Of course, if you're not super into that, it's kind of underwhelming in terms of gameplay and that awful inventory weight system, so I can see where you're coming from :v:
I'm having trouble with Avaa, the Kings Pet. could someone throw down a sign? im at 797500 SM and I'm level 108, on PC SoTFS edition.
i would be more than happy to help but my single save is like 179 i think :(
No need, I summoned up npcs and destroyed her!

That's what I did. Took me a good amount of tries but in the end he fell before Bone Lee

Once you learn all his attacks and learn which way to roll for each, the Smelters become pretty easy to take down.
i have barely any points in adp and im built for blocking, not rolling (that and im fucking awful at rolling)
will 11m work with 3m using the engraved ring? cause I think LORD LIFT is 11m
i have barely any points in adp and im built for blocking, not rolling (that and im fucking awful at rolling)
That's kind of a bad thing to build into in this one, imo, you'd be better off going for blocking in emergencies and rolling the rest of the time. In DS1 it was totally viable but almost not at all in DS2.
Tips for low ADP rolls: -Don't roll in the same direction as the swing, and avoid going backwards too. Doing those directions will have you getting clipped by the swing due to your lower amount of Invinc. frames. -Stay on the opposite side of the sword if possible, most times I haven't really needed to roll because I could strafe behind him to avoid the swing. -For the love of god don't bother trying to block Smelter or any bosses equal to or larger than him unless you've got a huge stamina pool, because otherwise you're going to get backed into a corner or wall and he's going to do his jumping stab and you'll get killed by the AoE. I'd love to help but I threw Haphazard Hero into NG+ already but if nobody else helps I can rush through the iron keep.
No point blocking, roll through that shit. Once you learn all his attacks and learn which way to roll for each, the Smelters become pretty easy to take down.
Even then it's a pain because Blue Smelly can slow down any attack at random, so you really can't get comfy.
tanking is all ive ever known how to play in das1 really and its a bit late to be changing how i play on this char now
Use a Soul Vessel to redistribute your stats
Use a Soul Vessel to redistribute your stats
yeah but then i have fuck-all clue about what stats to take from and throw into another, hate to say it but ive mostly been following someone elses build exactly
yeah but then i have fuck-all clue about what stats to take from and throw into another, hate to say it but ive mostly been following someone elses build exactly
So experiment. By the point in that game that you are, you should have or can get several Soul Vessels, so just reset, go with what you think sounds neat, throw yourself at an area and see how you do, rinse repeat.
yeah but then i have fuck-all clue about what stats to take from and throw into another, hate to say it but ive mostly been following someone elses build exactly
You need stamina and adaptability to be able to roll effectively and be able to attack, the required stats for the weapon and some vitality. Don't worry about armour, the game doesn't care; take the best light equipment [editline]19th May 2015[/editline] I am the worst on stat advice because I have a 307 level character because I feel like maxing every thing
yeah but then i have fuck-all clue about what stats to take from and throw into another, hate to say it but ive mostly been following someone elses build exactly
The best thing I've found to do is think about what you want to be able to do. Want to stunlock bitches with a rapier and never run out of breath? Want to dual-wield greatswords? I always think about what weapon I want to use beforehand, then build myself around that. For the record, if you can find someone who's willing to drop you a Sun Sword, I'd recommend you go 40 into str and dex and powerstance them. At +10 the Sun Sword does 175 base damage with A/A scaling, so you end up swinging around swords that're dealing in the neighborhood of 350-360 damage per hit. Add in some ADP and you're fucking unstoppable.
tanking is all ive ever known how to play in das1 really and its a bit late to be changing how i play on this char now
It's never too late though. Everything you need to know about Agility- the most important stat leveled by ADP- is here. It tells you how long your i-frames last at what levels of Agility. 100 is a good amount to get- 105 is better, but usually only if you have some points in attunement, since you'd have to sink too many levels into ADP to be able to reach that without help from attunement. The distance you roll is affected by your equipment burden- to a more subtle degree than "fast/med/slow" rolling, though you may already know the following; if so, you can just skip this, I guess. Fat rolling happens after you hit 70% equipment burden, and all roll speeds below that shift gradually, instead of at arbitrary percentages. From 69.9% to 30% (or so) equipment burden, your roll distance and walk speed will increase gradually as it gets lower. After you hit 30% you can't get faster, so no point going lower. Also, all of Moopsiepook's points are extremely valid and you should read them at least twice cuz that brotha is preachin tha' truth. And finally, never, never, never use the last of your stamina trying to get a hit in, no matter what. You're better off letting it recharge.
Yeah that's all correct. Only thing I'd add is more heavy swearing.
Fucking... wooooooow... Decided I kinda wanted to try this game after it's been sitting in my library for hell knows how long. Y'know, I hadn't heard great things about the PC port... but clearly Assassin's Creed 1's bad port spoiled me... I haven't set foot in the game world. Already I've looked up the appropriate graphical tweaks fix the damn thing's dated-for-2012 graphics. (Seriously? This thing is less than 4 gigs in totality? Game is weird.) But hell, problems setting the RESOLUTION? How do you fuck up something so basic? And I don't dare touch the 30fps lock, because I know the ingame physics (and other things) are tied to the framerate. But what REALLY gets me? The CONTROLS. One look at that default keymap left me stunned into silence. Not a mention of the mouse. H and U for attacking, a slew of manual CAMERA CONTROLS??? Fucking System Shock TWO was from the era before standard layouts were a THING, and THAT game only took me two minutes to reconfigure into something intuitive in 2014. THIS game expects me to seize me hands into some twisted claw to play it with ONLY the keyboard. My brain is melting; does SOMEONE have a script, or a better set of bindings to make this game less impossible to manage? And to the first person to respond with "just use a gamepad..." ...uh... Eat me. Because I will be dead in the cold cold ground before I hook up a controller to my computer. I'm a PC gamer, and I will play games the way nature intended: with a mouse and keyboard.
Use a gamepad, you're being stupid.
No. Not an option.
if you're a "pc gamer" just deal with the default controls. otherwise, get a controller
You can wait for my clone of Dark Souls. Its completely playable using keyboard n mouse setting. Its all in direct x 9 so no need for expensive rigs. Probably will be available as early access in 2050 but PC gamers are used to waiting right?
I assume you already have DSFix, but also get DSMFix. It allows you to use more than 3 mouse buttons and significantly improves the camera control with the mouse. It is still significantly easier and smoother just to use a controller, and I understand if you do not have access to one, but not every PC game was meant to be played on KB+M. You wouldn't really play a flying simulator without a joystick for instance.
