I got 30 hours in, the game has insane replay value, especially with the neutral endings being different depending on who you kill or spare

i feel like this is like the video game equivalent of homestuck because it's super popular and I see jokes about it everywhere but I have no idea what any of it means and im afraid to get involved

unlike homestuck, undertale:
• has an ending
• is easy to understand.
• has a small amount of likable characters instead of 5000 characters based off of card suits and horoscopes and phases of the moon and shit.

too subjective a point. I love a lot of homestuck's characters. just because there's more doesn't dampen their likability or anything. hard to know that if you've never been a fan of it

[sp]The joke door being a thing and Sans promises, the way they look at each other during the entire ending sequence (and ASGORE progressively freaking out over it), them fighting over the phone etc. It seems pretty natural and it's not totally out of the blue. Like even Undyne has a remark that can be taken as it during the ending. There isn't a giant sign saying THEY HOOKED UP AND LOVE EACH OTHER VERY VERY MUCH but it has enough behind it that it does make a little bit of sense.[/sp]

don't get me wrong, i used to love it! but then i didn't have internet for about 2-3 weeks and when i came back there was alpha trolls and millions of pages to go through and i just didn't have the time.
the first time i saw Undertale was thanks to a banner ad on MSPA's front page, so i wouldn't know anything about it if not for homestuck.

I mean Homestuck will end, it's pretty much almost done, but it's on record breaking levels of Hiatus right now while Andrew "Finishes up some final animation work" and work on his game at the same time.
Your third point, like Salty said, is subjective.
I think a better comparison is that a lot of the characters in Undertale can actually be related to

I just see the people in Undertale as monsters that happen to look like things from the human world, Sans may look like a skeleton to us, but doesn't mean he is one in the literal sense.

I just love the contradictions in his character, with him acting like a total badass but in reality he's just a sad person.
