[sp]That's what Chara had to hear coming from the next room for about 30 hours[/sp]
your avatar is the very same case
"there is a character that looks like this in the game"
there is no indication of the importance of the character for new players
if you saw it before playing the game, you would think nothing of it
and this post is getting really counterproductive to my point, so just check the top of the page
I'm inclined to agree, but there are some more extreme examples. I think this avatar is far past pushing it. I am very glad I'd beaten the game before i saw it. Shame some won't be that lucky.
I fucked up my run. [sp] Thought I was going for pacifist run (my first run), never killed anybody but turns out this is not how this works, so now I have to somehow beat Asgore with 20 hp, no healing stuff and pretty bad loot.[/sp] :s:

[sp]If you want, you can reload the save, go back to the hotel, and stock up on healing items. Remember that you don't need the real expensive items as you have the lowest possible level.
Also, talking to him might do you something good, but it won't solve the main problem.[/sp]

Ok I'll try that, thanks.

Actually, I think the best thing to do would be to go back to Snowdin and buy Cinnamon Buns
they're the most cost efficient i think
[sp]And if you're hurting for gold since I think encounters disappear when you defeat Mettaton, you can go to Temmie Village.[/sp]

[sp]I managed to beat him with Tough Glove, so anything's possible! Took 11 tries though[/sp] :v:
[sp]Notebook all the way[/sp]
And my 2 cents on the avatar issue
Characters that appear relatively early on are fine, it's the endgame reveals that cause problems. When people get to the final boss and realize they still haven't seen so-and-so character, it ruins surprises
But the question is, is it a spoiler if you don't know that it is a spoiler?
Many people can easily connect the dots.

What about this?
[sp]They're revealed on the spot[/sp], so even if you see them, you don't know who or what they are until you meet them.
I literally beat [sp]Asgore[/sp] with the [sp]Worn Dagger, Heart Locket, and a lot of Sea Tea as well as the Butterscotch Pie solely to weaken him further than Talk does. Also still had the Snowman Piece in my inventory, so that was 7 slots of healing since I didn't want to eat the piece.[/sp]
I think I can safely Goatmum would kick all our arses

Compares a character you meet early on in the game with literally the last character you meet in the game.
Good one.
Asgore Question: [sp] Does the Pie stack with talking to him? [/sp]
Asgore Question: [sp] Does the Pie stack with talking to him? [/sp]
Far as I can tell, yes. [sp]But on a Pacifist run he'll still be doing a lot of damage even with Talking down and the Pie. Be sure to have a lot of spare items and keep at trying to avoid as much pain as possible, it's more of outlasting his endurance than much else.[/sp]
Compares a character you meet early on in the game with literally the last character you meet in the game.

Quite. To think, that [sp]the very first character you encounter in the game is also the very last character you meet...[/sp]
If there ever is an expansion to hard mode, I really hope that you can [sp]truly save Asriel from his soulless fate. The best way I can think about that working would be for Frisk to give up his/her soul to him, so that he can live out his life with his family and be capable of feeling compassion. A sacrifice ending, so to speak.[/sp] This is all wishful thinking, though.
If hard mode is never expanded and added fully then I can live on knowing that at least [sp]Flowriel (I'm not good with names) has a true friend in Frisk, even if he can't feel love or compassion.[/sp]

Spoilers concerning his mechanics :
[sp]Asgore, just like Toriel, takes more damage the less health he has, meaning you'll start hitting for 11 damage and end up dealing for 255. Get the foggy glasses and the torn notebook from the turtle in Waterfall, put that on for extra invincibility frames, and stock up on healing items. You don't really have to worry about damage as long as you've got enough food to tank whatever attacks you can't dodge.[/sp]

Damn straight. Even if [sp]all we can offer is a hug[/sp], I wanna be able to [sp]offer the most powerful and determined hug possible.[/sp] Hell if [sp]Frisk mustering a Megahug of Ultralove is what gives Asriel back his old life[/sp], I probably wouldn't be nearly as disappointed in the use of that particular trope.

I didn't notice anyone explain this, so if I missed it I'm sorry:
You didn't fuck up your run, assuming you think [sp]you can't get the pacifist run on your first playthrough. While your first run will always end with a neutral ending, afterward reload your save just before the final boss and you'll be able to continue on to the true pacifist ending, assuming you haven't killed anyone. So pretty much you saved yourself a handful of hours by making your first run pacifist.[/sp] If you fucked it up for a different reason, sorry to hear that.

For some reason this really makes me want a studio ghibli styled undertale movie. I'd watch the shit outta that.
[sp]imo, best healing for a pacifist run is bisicles with the frying pan. Each use is 15 HP, and since you can use each bisicle twice, you've got double the quantity as far as healing goes. You can use cloudy glasses if you're not confident in your dodging, but I feel Cowboy Hat is a better choice just for the attack boost, or the locket if you want the highest def you'll get on a pacifist run. That said, an inventory full of bisicles is pretty much overkill as far as healing goes.[/sp]

Pacifist spoilers.

On one hand it sounds like it'd be so cool, but on the other hand the interactive nature of the medium was part of what made Undertale amazing.

For some reason I expected John Cena.

If all Toby did for hard mode was lazily make every fight [sp]the Sans boss[/sp] with a different pitch in the music for each fight and then slap this video (Holy moley endgame spoilers look out they're coming right for you) onto the end of the game I'd be satisfied x1000.

True, it certainly couldn't have the fourth wall, player-fuckery that goes on in the game, but I feel like the story and characters are more than strong enough to hold up all on their own if it had to be adapted for film.
I would love to see if Hard Mode was the only way you could fix [sp]your soul being sold to Chara. You have to do a true pacifist run on hard mode, where instead of Chara murdering everyone in your wake you succeed in defeating him with the power of everyone's love.[/sp]
