You have to do it the moment you defeat [sp]Asriel[/sp] without exiting the game at all.

I managed to get it even after saving on each save point and even exiting the games a couple of times since I wanted to make sure I got to backtrack each and every room and taking breaks in-between. So I'm assuming the [sp]the event just doesn't trigger if you have seen the True Pacifist credits at least once or something.[/sp]

In that case we can conclude that [sp]Flowey's warning on true reset[/sp] is the point where you're too late, because, well, [sp]he's back to being a flower, and he's immune to your time-travel bullshit. [/sp] But on the safe side, just go back to the first room the moment you got the chance.
