I can't believe that you cannot [sp]save Asriel[/sp]. For a game heavily invested in [sp]determination being able to overcome all odds,[/sp] you would think that the protagonist would be able to [sp]fabricate an artificial soul for the child on the spot.[/sp]

Huh? I guess I didn't look at the main menu often, but I wasn't aware it looked like that later on.
To be fair, [sp]we can't exactly restore the six human kids also killed by Asgore, so it's more like we basically can't undo what was already done but we can at least progress forward without ignoring their passing.[/sp]

Well, the whole problem with [sp]Asriel is that he was GIVEN determination after he had died. Blame Alphys for doing really disgusting testing/immoral soul experiments more than anything else.[/sp]

[sp]She (like the others in the Underground) were desperate to destroy the barrier, so taking a human soul and putting it into a monster soul (potentially making it human enough to count for the barrier) probably was one of the only things she could do in such a demanding time.
I don't want to seem like I'd forgive Alphys for everything but I know she's more of a Otacon than a Huey (at least, in the true ending- there's an uncomfortable amount of Huey parallels in the neutral endings).[/sp]

[sp]I mean, don't get me wrong, I realize she meant well and all, but I'm just saying immediately using DT on every test subject she had was an absolutely horrible idea for multiple reasons.
I guess Alphys and Asgore had the same flaw in that while they both had reasonably noble goals, and while I understand how they got themselves into the unfortunate situations that they did, when they got too deep into their lies they were both too scared to admit that they were wrong.[/sp]
