War. War never changes.
The Romans waged war to gather slaves and wealth. Spain built an empire from its lust for gold and territory. Hitler shaped a battered Germany into an economic superpower.
But war never changes.
In the 21st century, war was still waged over the resources that could be acquired. Only this time, the spoils of war were also its weapons: Petroleum and Uranium. For these
resources, China would invade Alaska, the US would annex Canada, and the European Commonwealth would dissolve into quarreling, bickering nation-states, bent on controlling
the last remaining resources on Earth.
In 2077, the storm of world war had come again. In two brief hours, most of the planet was reduced to cinders. And from the ashes of nuclear devastation, a new civilization
would struggle to arise.

Fallout: A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game, also referred to as simply Fallout, developed by Interplay and its division, Dragonplay, and self-published on September 30, 1997, is the
first game in the Fallout series. The game was initially intended to use Steve Jackson Games' GURPS system, but when Interplay made the decision to drop GURPS on February 12,
1997, it created its own system, SPECIAL. Fallout is seen as the "spiritual successor" to Interplay's classic 1987 CRPG Wasteland.
In the aftermath of the Great War, the surface world burned. Underneath, hidden deep underground in Vault 13, survivors live a sheltered and comfortable life, away from the
radiation and the perils of the wastes. In 2161, the vault's water chip fails, and needs a replacement. You are selected to exit the vault and find a new water chip on the surface.

Fallout 2: A Post-Nuclear Role Playing Game is the sequel to the original Fallout. Released on September the 30th, 1998, it was officially developed by Black Isle Studios, which by
that point had become a full-fledged design outfit. Fallout 2 is considered one of Black Isle Studios' best RPGs by most critics, and is generally well respected in the RPG community.
Eighty years after saving Vault 13, the Vault Dweller wandered the wastes and founded the village of Arroyo, where a secluded tribe lives in simplicity and peace. As an unforgiving
drought hits the village and threatens to starve its people, the Chosen One is sent to the wastes to find a Garden of Eden Creation Kit and save his people.

Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel or simply Fallout Tactics, developed by Micro Forté and published by Interplay in 2001, is technically the third title in the Fallout series, but is
not a traditional RPG (so it wasn't entitled Fallout 3). Instead, Fallout Tactics focuses on squad-based combat and introduces near real-time combat, called "continuous turn-based"
by the developers, as well as multiplayer mode, to the Fallout series. The game takes place in the American Midwest rather than the West Coast, where the previous Fallout titles
took place. Because of inconsistencies with all the previous Fallout games, Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel is not part of the official Fallout canon except for its pivotal events.
When the game starts, the Brotherhood is trying to claim territory surrounding Chicago. By offering protection to villages of tribals the Brotherhood is able to draft it's recruits from
among the tribals. At the beginning of the game, the player character is an Initiate, a new recruit to the Brotherhood, tasked to lead a squad of soldiers made up of the available
troops. As the campaign against the raiders succeeds into dispersing them into the wasteland, the player character is accepted fully into the Brotherhood and learns the eventual
goal of the Brotherhood: A campaign west across the Great Plains towards the Rocky Mountains in search of Vault Zero, the one-time nucleus and command center of the pre-war
vault network, where the most senior government, scientific and themilitary leaders were housed and the highest technology available was maintained.

Fallout 3 is a post-apocalyptic action role-playing game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the third installment in the Fallout series
and the first installment in the series to show the East Coast of the United States, with a story mostly disjointed from the two previous installments. It was released on
October 28, 2008 in North America, on October 31, 2008 in Europe and on December 4, 2008 in Japan.
Two hundred years after the great war, life in Vault 101 persists, its people few in numbers but sheltered from the perils of the wastes. Your father, the Vault's resident doctor,
raised you alone to a comfortable, if simple life. In 2277, your father leaves the Vault for unknown reasons and you find yourself following in his footsteps. Forced out of the vault,
you must find your Father in the Capital Wastelands.

Fallout: New Vegas is a role-playing video game developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Bethesda Softworks. While technically a sequel to Fallout 3, New Vegas
goes back to the West Coast and instead follows up on the events of Fallout 1 and 2. It was developed by a few of the employees who worked on previous Fallout games at Black
Isle Studios, along with a larger number of new employees. It is set in the Mojave Desert.
The year is 2281. In the middle of the Mojave Desert lies an oasis of vice and neon lights - New Vegas, the heart of the desert, ruled by the mysterious Mister House. Gamblers
come to test their luck and NCR troops come to forget about the ever lasting threat of Caesar's Legion. You are the Courier, and you were tasked with delivering a platinum chip
to Mister House. But you never made it - the lights of the strip were but a vague tint in the horizon when a man in a checkered suit ambushed you, stole your package, and shot
you in the head, leaving you in a shallow grave. You awake eight days later, with a hole in your head and a score to settle.

place on the East Coast.
A happy couple in Sanctuary hills. A house in a quiet neighborhood, a car, a robot butler, a healthy baby boy - they used to have a dog too, but he's gone somewhere. She's a lawyer,

Modding
Modding is the same process for Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4, and is the same as modding Elder Scrolls games. Mods are installed manually by dropping the files in the DATA folder of the game or automatically by using Nexus Mod Manager, and then activating the .esp and .esm files (if any) in a mod manager. Mod Organizer offers has a different mod installation method described in its tutorials.

I'll mark it on your discussions page.
I got an email from "have you been pwned" and Nexus Mods was breached.
Got tired of quicksaving and loading to pass speech checks even though I had 9 Charisma, so this mod was right up my alley.
Binary Speech Checks
It changes the speech checks to be binary (like NV) depending on your Charisma stat, meaning depending on the difficulty of the speech check and your Charisma you will either pass it 100% of the time or fail. I recommend using the Hard-Forgiving edition, which lets you have a chance of passing the check if you don't meet the Charisma requirement depedning on how close you are to the breakpoint, but makes having high Charisma important because you need at 10 Charisma to pass red speech checks 100% of the time.
Oh nvm, seems I was late in getting the email, this breach happened last month

I failed one once. I'd wager it's like a 95% chance to succeed.
i just realized, if you take out all the perks in Strength that are just flat damage/accuracy increases or better crafting you only get three that actually do anything
what a great system
Hope I didn't fuck up the OP too bad by moving things around and getting rid of a few redundant things :v:
You should put the recommended mods thing back in. It'll maybe help cut down a bit on people asking for mods.
You should put the recommended mods thing back in. It'll maybe help cut down a bit on people asking for mods.
Three quarters of the recommended mods were texture swaps of subjective quality, so I dumped them all off the OP and only kept in the ones that seemed very popular. I expect the section to mostly disappear soon enough since there's starting to be too many mods on the nexus to really keep efficient track of them here.
By now you can just look at the nexus' top 100 mods and get access to most of the mods that were listed in the recommended section anyway so it felt redundant.
I also tried to keep it down to mods that don't alter the balance of the game since putting these under a list that branded itself as "essential" felt a bit weird.

Wasn't it the same with 3 and New Vegas ? I honestly can't remember any Strength related perks that weren't damage increases. Even Terrifying Presence required Speech, not Strength.

Charged up it will inflict radiation, two types of explosive, energy, and whichever legendary type damage simultaneously.
Wasn't it the same with 3 and New Vegas ? I honestly can't remember any Strength related perks that weren't damage increases. Even Terrifying Presence required Speech, not Strength.
but in those games you had skill-based perks to make up for the lack of SPECIAL based ones, hence why vanilla New Vegas has 88 perks and Fo4 only has about 39 (give or take) when you subtract the ones that just make up for the removal of skills, like lockpicking or the one that's literally called "sneak". so if anything it's even more ridiculous because it means they took out skills but didn't bother to make SPECIAL based perks to compensate
Can anyone explain why the railroad has to nuke the institute other than so they could reuse the same assets?
First it starts by[sp] liberating some synths, then we decide to liberate them all, then a takeover[/sp] now it's "well we need to nuke them too"

I failed one against [sp]Desdamona[/sp] once and that's what made me get that mod because that shouldn't be a thing that happens.

Maybe you should spoiler tag that stuff, the games been out a little while now but some people might not have done a play through with that faction yet
Three quarters of the recommended mods were texture swaps of subjective quality, so I dumped them all off the OP and only kept in the ones that seemed very popular.
what about unpopular texture swaps of subjective quality made by facepunch users

Every ending but the institute involves nuking them though so they reuse the same ending screen
Yeah we know that, but they don't

After seeing the Dunwich Quarry and doing the Cabbot questline, I SUPER DUPER DUPER POOPER SCOOPER hope that we get a nice sizeable DLC that's entirely Lovecraft! Maybe in Arkham since we are in Mass.
Please please please more Lovecraft stuff.
That could be an excuse to travel back to the Mojave. Cabbot hires you again to help/protect him on his trip there.

Perks were mainly related to skills and not SPECIAL in NV so your comparison makes no sense.
And even then from the perks that require Strength only Unstoppable Force was just a damage increase. The rest of the perks affect carry weight, larger throwing range, reducing weapon strength requeriments, knocking down or not being knocked down and etcetera.
So I'm finally getting around to finishing work on the castle post-game. Maybe I'll post an album when I'm done, really proud of how some parts turned out.
Also learning that electrical conduits can act... weird. Sometimes power goes through a wall without a wire, other times it doesn't. What's the trick?
