Why would anyone do that, the radio was the worst part of New Vegas.
get a load of this guy, i bet his spurs don't even jingle jangle jingle
I actually know most of the sung songs in New Vegas because I ripped all the music from the game to listen to on my phone.
It's stored as .mp3 files in Fallout New Vegas\Data\Sound\songs\radionv. So it's not like they made it impossible for you to take it. They are a bit quiet however.
I dunno about you guys but I enjoyed New Vegas' radio. The song choices felt lively and gave the game a more lighthearted atmosphere than the dynamic background tracks.
My first time through, I played NV with the radio always on (and with wild wasteland), and FO3 with it always off. At the end of both, NV felt like it had much more charm as a result.
Could never get enough of Johnny Guitar
oh god help mongrels are sieging diamond city, increased spawns was a mistake
[editline]22nd February 2016[/editline]
there's like 50 of them all the guards are dead and i have 3 endurance this is not going well
Nothing beats turning off the radio in NV because both stations were playing Johnny Guitar at the same time. :v: True story.
I'm starting to wonder if like, The Last Voyage of The USS Constitution was like one of the first quests Bethesda fully developed, then all of the other quests kind of just got shoved out the door without all the frills The USS constitution got because they saw the deadlines looming.
-Skill checks that save you the effort of having to track down other crap
-Actual choices that effect how the quest ends
-A cool weapon as a reward.
This could have been a 3/NV quest easily.
The dream game would have that attention on all quests + even further attention so that you could [sp] adjust the nav computers [/sp] with 10 intelligence, and have the boat [sp] sink in the ocean [/sp].
Can someone point me toward a guide for getting models into FO4? Also, is it really difficult right now, or will it be about the same as when the GECK is out?
Can someone point me toward a guide for getting models into FO4? Also, is it really difficult right now, or will it be about the same as when the GECK is out?
The official mod tools have absolutely nothing to do with getting models ingame. The most it helps with is making sure that the textures work and that any texture swaps you want to use work too.
I'm not entirely sure what people are using to get custom models into Fallout 4, though I assume it's modified versions of Skyrim plugins, along with probably the Nifskope beta.

From my knowledge of FO4Edit [sp]by which I mean my knowledge of FNVEdit[/sp], anything that can be done by adding some IDs and changing some values, like adding a new weapon or changing a pre-existing one, is pretty simple.
I'm guessing placing objects is fairly difficult (at least outside of set containers), and creating new cells and quests is probably impossible until the Creation Kit is out.
Hm. Guess I'll wait until the GECK is out then, since I can only assume they've got tools and documentation all in the kit instead of needing an assload of plugins and separate programs like Source modeling.
Any mod issues with the new beta update?
Can my spotlight work if it's behind a wall?

along with the getpos (xyz #) and setpos (xyz #), there's modpos (xyz #) that mods the position by a value instead of setting it to a specific value, good for calculating what's just right.
you also have getangle, setangle, and modangle (xyz #) which edit what direction the piece is pointing.
though you'd only be using Y for up and down and Z for left and right.
it'll become tedious but when you get a hang of it, you'll be able to stand it when you can finally make your settlements look like, well, settlements.

depends what you mean. if you want to know if it can shed light outside, maybe wait for night to hit and see if the light can seep out.
if you mean detection, try spawning an enemy raider or something (player.placeatme [formid]). either way it'll give your settlement a defensive value.
you could also just use the console commands provided above to push it towards the corner so that the spotlight sticks out of the corner and looks like a generic dungeon spotlight.

Can't wait till a single raider overthrows this.
Jesus christ, I have tons of food but I have no use for it as I get more while traveling.

To see an enemy, so I tried the command and the spotlight saw it.
Thanks.

So the positions, is that done through the console?
Or is it a mod?
Judging from the automatron DLC, does this mean you can re-create the original sentry bot from Fallout 2?

All console. It's annoying to constantly have to nudge things but at least it's an option available to you by default (assuming you're on PC anyway).
Also, a helpful tip, you may want to always enter "getpos" when you click a new item and be very vigilant about it, because sometimes you don't click the right item and end up modifying the position of like, a tree behind the target object, or atmospheric effects or lighting or something. I found this out the hard way when I accidentally sent a map element a thousand units below where it was supposed to be and ended up losing track of it, or another time when I accidentally elevated the fog in that southern-most bog settlement to 20 feet above the ground.
Looking at the eyebot there made me think of another floating 'eye' type robot from an old cartoon.

You should get the mod that makes the settlements lights brighter and reach further, it would really help out not making the place look like a moody dumphole.

In all seriousness now though you are terribly wrong.

I used the radio a lot in Fallout 3 because the OST is otherwise pretty bland (before I decided to just cut off the soundtrack entirely and played with just the wind and footsteps, that is) but for NV and Fallout 4 I never bothered using it when exploring because Inon Zur stepped up his game drastically.
The whole concept of the radio in these games works better when it's just some passive thing in the environment.
I'm going to say that in my hundreds of hours that I've played of the games, I barely if ever play the radio. I can't pin down exactly why I don't like it, it kinda seems like they're trying too hard, I guess. Three Dog was annoying, Mr New Vegas was almost unintelligible, and the OST of Fallout 4 was really good.
