You know, I really want to see some type of travel from a Fallout game again, like how the originals were.
Say you want to travel from the Commonwealth to the Capital Wastes, you have that random chance of either:
Having a special random encounter along the way in a special place (Like how FO1/2 did the Alien crashes)
Having a random encounter in a typical travel spot (Raiders/Super Mutants setting up ambushes along trade routes)
Having an area spawn purely to explore
I've always liked the idea of a huge open sandbox game that has just one small hole that opens up into a labyrithine underground world with it's own monsters, scenery, etc.
Skyrim had it a little bit with the blackreach part but no game has scratched that itch for me yet
Dragbody released his offical DM overhaul on the GUN Network and it looks SCary
(No album link since I already posted one awhile back).
It's a public release so all I think you need to do is register.
http://www.gunetwork.org/t9260-release-dead-money-horror-overhaul-by-dragbody
Edit: Someone is also doing a LP of it.
Honestly the LP isn't showing off the mod very well. I didn't really notice anything different aside from the ghoul-looking Ghost Person, and the guy's ENB completely demolishes the DLC's atmosphere.
[editline]afds[/editline]
The Sierra Madre is supposed to be more "oppressive red cloud blotting out the sun" than "bright and sunny but slightly pink"
It looks interesting, except for the enemies that I can easily recognize from other games. Like Amnesia and Outlast, just kinda kills it for me.
1. What does this mean for the lore of the ghost people? In the vanilla dlc, according to the NV wikia, the ghost people originated from the construction workers before the Great War who were mutated from the cloud as they worked on the Sierra Madre Villa. They also have several ties to inhumane experiments of Big MT. For the purposes of DMHO, rather than seeing the ghost people as one hazmat suit stuck on many enemies, you are asked to view the ghost people as a range of enemies who were affected differently by the cloud and by the Big MT experiments. The detailed, specific lore of each individual mutated creature may forever be a mystery.
I.e. "I had to take enemies from other games to add variety to this mod, and I'm not gonna give a shit to try to explain why the Amnesia monsters are here aside "THE CLOUD AND BIG MOUNTAIN DID IT!" Now shut up and get spooked scrub."
I mean credit where credit is due I know, but it just irks me alot that's all :T
I think the children of atom could have been a genuinely cool faction if they weren't given a lame religion with a shit godhead.
I feel it would have been so much cooler If they worshipped the Radiation itself, citing the strength and longevity of ghouls and other mutants as proof radioactive fallout improves humanity- and part of their doctrine was forcing humanity to adapt to belong in the new world, with those who simply died of exposure being deemed too weak and unworthy of existing. As it stands they are a laughable group of total morons, that set up in highly radioactive areas but somehow don't die, who pass the time by constantly quoting a joke character from fallout 3 and attacking random people.
why would you even try to make some dumb edgy and scary "horror overhaul" for dead money anyway, it's unnecessary, unfitting and doesn't add anything to the dlc other than downgrading it.
[t]http://i.imgbox.com/Zlxs5Tjd.jpg[/t]
This image perfectly shows my problem with these enemies.
On the right, you have a nice lore friendly enemy, like an idea of what an unmasked "Ghost Person" would look like.
Then you have fucking El Gigante from RE4 with Behemoth animations on the left just fucking messing it all up for the sake of variety.
Last I checked, while awesome, Horror moments/games are about the horror, not a sexy catwalk of spoopy monsters. Or at least not JUST spoopy monsters as it just seems.
Also this note REALLY bothers me.
There is now a duffle bag designed for carrying all Sierra Madre gold bars away from the vault without being overencumbered. This bag can be found in the inventory of a boss and adds 1295 carryweight--exactly the weight of the gold bars.
I know I'm a gamer and I want to take all the gold and take on the encumberment so I can make mad caps for days.
BUT NOT BEING ABLE TO TAKE ALL THE GOLD IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE MAIN MESSAGE OF THE DLC! THE MESSAGE OF LETTING GO DESPITE REALLY WANTING SOMETHING!
I really like the idea of dangerous radiation cultists, especially the outfits they wear, but it was executed fairly badly imo.
really surprising that took so long
Especially how much complaining there was about the main character couple being straight and no option otherwise.
(we'll probably need the GECK to make it a proper mod cause I wasn't being sarcastic with my memeshit)

It replaces Dogmeat and it's not just a static plastic Flamingo either, it's completely animated, it even changes his barks to Flamingo noises, the stuff you see on him right now are his equippable items. :v:

We don't have laser boobs or "immersive" bestiality mods, I think it isn't dead yet. Just wait until someone makes a Vaultmeat overhaul.
really surprising that took so long
It was one of the first mods.
At first it took me a couple seconds to even see what was weird about that picture.
It was one of the first mods.
I don't think there's an actual mod for same-sex spouse yet, all I can find is a savegame (and those don't count)
what
Skyrim had some pretty damn weird, disturbing, and hilarious mods (like the previously mentioned laser boobs). I'd post videos if they weren't Not Safe For Life.
Then again, I can't wait for the Geck to come out so silly shit like this can be done:
I used the radio a lot in Fallout 3 because the OST is otherwise pretty bland (before I decided to just cut off the soundtrack entirely and played with just the wind and footsteps, that is) but for NV and Fallout 4 I never bothered using it when exploring because Inon Zur stepped up his game drastically.
The whole concept of the radio in these games works better when it's just some passive thing in the environment.
Personally, I like both the radios and music.
But I prefer the atmosphere when I turn music volume to 0 and don't turn on the pip boy radio. It gives the game more of a wasteland feel when you're walking around and all you hear is the crunch of the dead earth and some gunshots in the distance.

I'd like to see mods that restore the really graphic OTT energy weapon deaths from classic Fallout

I remember a mod for FO3 that added green glowing skeletons to the plasma goo puddles and I thought it was perfect, I don't know why Bethesda never took the massive fucking hint about how cool of an idea that might be.

Funny thing is plasma grenades can actually burn the flesh off legs from what I've seen. Rarely, it'll cause a human's leg to become skeletal, and bloody, it's a completely unique effect outside the normal gore too.
I'm not sure if it can happen for the entire body, but it seems like it a modder could allow it to if it doesn't already. I'm frankly surprised that plasma guns don't seem to burn flesh off in the same way.
I hope you can build scrap robots from scratch. Otherwise Nick Valentine's a moron who should stop commenting on the fact that we can "Build ourselves a friend with all the stuff in here"

probably performance reasons, or the fact that they can't even get normal ash and goo puddles right, as the puddles stay permanently rather than despawning. :v:

EVE, it got pretty crazy in NV. You could fire off a few mini nukes and find a dude during the Sarah Connor thing

This bothers me the most about using energy weapons, I wonder if they will actually ever do something about it. At the very least, I hope somebody makes a mod that allows automatic cleanup of ash and goo piles.
It's just as bad as dropped weapons from NPCs. They never seem to despawn, so sometimes I'll go through an old area and see 4 pipe pistols scattered on the ground from an enemy I killed four times in the past. They'll even be in their inventory.

Yeah, although it seems like it might be a bit buggy though.

If you look closely on my image, you can actually see that the bloody ribcage is protruding from beneath her armor. And you can even see her chin appears to have a bloody skeleton jaw jutting from it, much like the ribcage thing.
I guess those violent plasma deaths are there, but they seem to be both rare, and somewhat buggy. It also appears to be for the entire body as well, not just the legs like I thought.
