Possibly late on this, but I'm in the middle of going through all the Silver Shroud side-quest stuff, I just finished listening to all the little radio stories, and I've come to two possible conclusions about what's going on regarding the Automatron DLC. Either it's a direct reference to the Mechanist vs AntAgonizer from Fallout 3, or much more likely that someone in the commonwealth decided to take up the identity of the main baddie from the Silver Shroud stories, "The Mechanist". In the story he says "Metal is the future of Massachusetts!", and on Bethesdas news page about the DLC, is says that someone has apparently accomplished this:
I wouldn't be surprised if both are correct. It seems sort of silly for Bethesda to have two characters called the Mechanist that incredibly similar. They could just retcon it to say that the Mechanist in Fallout 3 is a guy pretending to be the Silver Shroud's Mechanist, and that he's come from DC to the Commonwealth.
don't know if people are here who already saw this from the other thread for it, but if they haven't;

Wish they cut it with just using MGSV trailer songs. If you have a composer then show some confidence and use their work in your trailers.

Or both people are just fans of the Mechanist and his goals. Applying it to their respective areas.
Plot Twist. You are the Mechanist.
This is probably really nitpicky but is there a mod to remove the shell casing sound when Fruit Loops fires his REVOLVER in the intro?
2 days late but here http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10647/?
I'm kinda hoping they give the Mechanist a decent back story and motive for emulating a pre-war super hero, and they don't just do another "GREETINGS CITIZEN, FOR I AM <COMIC BOOK CHARACTER>! MY CAUSE IS <GIMMICK>! I HAVE DONNED MY <LAME SUPER HERO COSTUME> AND I AM NOW GOING TO TALK LIKE A GENERIC COMIC BOOK CHARACTER FOR EVERY LINE OF DIALOGUE I HAVE!".
It was really funny in the silver shroud quest, and the super human gambit was okay because it was the first time they ever did it, but im starting to think the joke is going to go really stale if we have to put up with it for an entire DLC...

They look fucking rad, don't they?
I wish there was a mod for Survival which made it 24/7 radstorm. Once the Survival overhaul hits, were going all in.

Is this corpse thing a part of the vanilla game? Cant remember finding anything like it before.
Found it outside the NCR Correctional Facility.
Thats like everywhere in the game. It always freaks me out when I find it.
Like, the original gore in the game doesn't even phase me, but those bodies are so much more detailed and realistic, which creeps me out.
That so weird, I have hundred of hours in NV and never noticed that before.

it's because that body is actually modeled to look like a human instead of made with gamebryo facegen and resultantly does not look like a creature from the stygian depths

it's that the job gets done, no questions asked.

i just wish the canisters were correctly filed under misc category instead of scrap, i can't store those things anywhere without accidentally deleting them
You know what desperately needs to be fixed? The material canisters from Cambridge Polymer Labs remain marked as quest items after you finish the quest, and they weigh 1 each. So you permanently lose carry weight because there's no way to know which canisters are the ones you need and end up carrying dead weight forever.
It's just like Oblivion all over again.

Huh, that's strange. Perhaps they weigh something only if they're unidentified?
I remember identifying them all, and while I still have cobalt and other materials in my misc inventory, they don't weigh anything. It is a bit annoying they're still there though.
Courier Six > The Sole Survivor
Playing the sole survivor as a sarcastic piece of shit is pretty damn entertaining, though.
I don't really like any of the courier's responses, outside of the failed speech checks that I never pick anyway because why would I pick a speech option that's obviously going to fail.
every other protagonist in the series > sole survivor

except the bos and tactics ones, they sucked ass too
The Lone Wanderer was kind of a moron, no matter how you tried to play the game. At least the Sole Survivor has some well written dialogue.
You need an intelligence of 7 to count to fucking six in New Vegas.
Courier Six > The Sole Survivor
courier 6 has a plot-onium skeleton thicker than even the chosen one's, i mean (s)he got shot in the head, blown up in the divide, almost blown up in the siera madre, miraculously survived getting lobotomised, and poisoned a dozen times in zion

Well the Divide was destroyed when the Courier wasn't there so only the nuke you launch at the start counts, and you're not even in the explosion there. Almost blown up doesn't count, all the protagonists almost get blown up, the Vault Dweller and the Chosen One especially. Getting lobotomised was done in a lab by someone who specifically tried to keep you alive and away, compare that to the Lone Wanderer who got part of his brain ripped out in the middle of a swamp. And who doesn't get poisoned a dozen or so times in Fallout.

I wouldn't mind if they made him like a gritty reboot of the Fallout 3 character, wearing a trenchcoat over his costume for seemingly no reason and have him fulfill every possible trope of the edgy gritty reboot antihero.

Also I wish you could crack a joke in FO4 without everyone wanting your head on spear for that. Like holy shit, cheer up you boring fucks. It's one of the reason why I prefer writing of the NV over FO4, the "yeah, world's gone to shit, we are constantly dealing with even more shit on top of that but that doesn't mean we are going to be 100% serious all the fucking time" attitude.

Yeah, or even have him be a completely messed up experimental cyborg that identified with the mechanist after reading some old faded comic books. Would make a cool moment to have him pull off the goofy helmet and reveal a genuinely horrifying face beneath.
I can already imagine the sarcastic lines.
"why don't you take off that stupid helmet and face me, tin man?" "oh my god forget i said anything, put it back on! put it back on!"

you were THE ONLY ONE who ever survived the lobotimite process which had been running for a century, and not being there when a massive nuclear stockpile was set off by the package you just delivered is pretty lucky
has anyone done any art of what the town at the Divide might've looked like before the blast? that part of the story was really hard to believe for me, not for logistics, but because i couldn't imagine the Divide looking like anything other than a hellish waste of a miles-deep rubble canyon
