If there's one thing that can be said about them, it's that they are actually distinct and separate. Considering they're all (minus perhaps the Sole Survivor) meant to be blank slates for the player to define, I find their level of separation to be pretty impressive.

That whole zone was so poorly constructed, they wanted it to be a linear path so it was walled off by debris and crunched confusing buildings where you were under near constant fire

I use this mod for 50 rads per strike but you can make it so that it's always a radstorm by choosing 100%

With all 3 of my characters so far, at least one major quest has simply broken completely. I used setstage to fix it, but you'd think they would focus on the main quests for bugtesting

For anyone who has a nvidia gtx 970, higher, or maybe even a 960 and you want to make the game look as best as possible with little to slightly mild framerate drops, set everything in the first tab of the advanced settings to ultra and check any of the boxes you want, but then set your view distance settings to this:

I have everything up to ultra and I have a gtx 960
Why does the nexus always have such shitty download speeds? I can watch 720p youtube videos right now, but it's going to take me 5 minutes to download a 12 mb file

Who knows, but it can be downright frustrating sometimes. Having to wait 5 minutes for a 12 mb file is one thing, but trying to do stuff like download total conversions or textures packs and settling in for a couple days wait is torture.

Alternatively you can keep your draw distance at max and just drop shadow distance to medium and godrays to low (considering they're broken anyway) and keep a steady 60 everywhere except the city.
I have a 6 year old laptop, I can get at most 25fps with all the reductions I've made, and that's only in sparse areas.

Maybe try the texture optimization packs on Nexus? Might be worth a shot.

i overclocked my cpu from 4.3ghz to 4.5 and got a 1fps improvement :magic101:
i'm assuming it's cpu load causing frame drops in this game? sometimes I can be staring at one spot and for 10 seconds get 45 fps then have it boost back up to 60 and stay there for a while. sometimes i'll load in and get 60 in a spot and fast travel away and then back and get 40. i don't fucking understand it
if anyone has a second could you check my settings and see if there's anything I can do? examples of bad performance - goodneighbour area is atrocious (but it is for everyone afaik), sometimes I can get 60 in sanctuary but then other times it'll be 30 for no reason. indoors is mostly 60 apart from when there's lights casting shadows then it'll occasionally dip to 40-50. settings: [URL="http://i.imgur.com/UVOkpLg.png"]here[/URL] n [URL="http://i.imgur.com/J2D0vXY.png"]here[/URL] + i toggle godrays off in the console and set cpu priority to high. running with a gtx 770, 8gb ram and an i5 2500k at 4.5ghz
i'd also settle with some info on how to make the mouse feel less janky when you're not at 60fps. it feels like it has some awful mouse acceleration on (despite my disabling it) when you're sub 50 frames, and as the game mostly revolves around first person shooting i want a fix for it because it makes gun fights absolutely awful
So I'm doing MacCready's Companion Mission, I arrive at the [sp]Mass Pike Interchange, all is normal, Gunners shooting on sight, sentries shooting at me, the usual, only Winlocke and Barnes are just stood there, doing nothing, letting me go up to them and talk to them, they both only have one line like, but they don't attack me nor MacCready, it's really weird.[/sp]
Although a Shotgun quickly changed that.
