Fuck this game and giving me like 5 sets of T-51, I don't care for it anymore.
Idk, Having a long easy road that introduces you to all the factions and their motivations for new players, and several variously quicker paths that get more challenging the closer to vegas you start for returning players was a good idea imo.
I found it made new runs a fucking chore because the game practically doesn't change until you get to New Vegas. You get a few minor changes in some side quests that are tied to the MQ, but nothing major. It's only once you get to New Vegas itself that the MQ opens up and you actually get a lot more leeway. Since the combat in New Vegas is pretty horrible, going through the desert to skip the long road isn't really a challenge that relies on skill as much as an annoyance that relies on blind luck and min-maxing.

New Vegas is still the best Fallout in my opinion.
You don't have to dump points in Charisma to access quests in Fallout 4, where did you get that from 90% of the charisma checks are just to get marginally more caps (far less than what you actually get by just scrounging and looting every container on your way there and back), with very few checks being actually related to the development of quests, and even then it's mostly about the conclusion of those quests more than anything.
