Pretty sure the assault rifle looking that way can be explained by nobody ever having to actually use it, instead its for power armor only, just like the minigun
It's pretty obvious by the amount of laser weapons in the game that bullet based weapons might have been phased out almost completely in the military and replaced by laser weaponry, but old war arsenals still had them and in the panic after the initial attacks, people dug out whatever then later on scavangers and groups like the gunners dug up what they could from the ruins which might be large stockpiles of once obsolete guns and bullets
How is that obvious at all?
I kinda wish there weren't 15 "different" kinds of automatic weapons in this game that serve no purpose other than to be direct upgrades of each other, like there's no reason to use the Combat Rifle if you have an Assault Rifle, it's just better.
If what you find in game has any bearing, the US military phased out all non pipe based weaponry and used .38 as their standard all purpose round.
military budget cuts be a bitch i guess
Yeah, there are a few place you can find pipe weaponry in supposedly pre-war areas. Apparently weapon-smithing comes to the surface of people's minds when the bombs drop.

Why don't we uh... back away from the camera first?
I really wish they'd tag the settlement workshop inventory as not accessible by NPCs, I saw Sheffield grab a Fatman to use against some ferals that were attacking Red Rocket. There were no survivors.
it's no R91, but it's easier on the eyes than the currently popular half-butchered FAL mod

So apparently you can straight up take entire character models and rig them into wearable outfits as this fellow on the nexus has done with various MGSV characters.

Hah, that's a pretty clever way of doing it. I have to imagine that facial animation is nonexistent with that though.
It is, this is the same principle as a "nude" outfit (full armor set)of a ported character in Skyrim, the only difference is material properties, since it's armor there's no bone/flex animations.
The most you could do would be gif style animations for glowing or transparency.
Man, the NCR armor looks so damn good.

no, if you are doing anything long range, assault rifle doesn't work out to be that much of an improvement, combat rifles with scopes and barels are pretty much a good main weapon for any sniper character as most of the fighting in the game will be medium to short range, while having a secondary .50 cal hunting rifle to fuck up things that need to seriously die
the problem really lies in the combat shotgun, its basically the only good shotgun in the game, the double barrel will basically become obsolete quickly once every raider starts carrying around automatic pipeguns, but the combat shotgun's problem is that there is no alternative, its big, takes a ton of ammo, and doesn't really do a whole lot of damage without some legendary modifier, and there aren't any shotgun specific perks in the game, so theres no specialization around it like there was in NV

Alrighty, now look at the picture, in the muzzle flash :v:
there really needed to be a pump action shotgun between the db shotgun and the combat shotgun
ya, a simple trench shotgun to bridge the gap there would be perfect, plus the modding system would work out fairly well

If you want some extra protection with added style, try putting on Shadowed Combat Armor arms and legs, I find they go really well with the chest piece that's already on the armor itself
DLC idea #213: NCR Arsenal
"traders have recently found the remains of an NCR expedition, complete with many crates of new weapons, weapon designs, and allegidly even some of the legendary ranger armors"
-basically GRA
-has a quest or two to track down a surviving ranger and return their lost sequoia pistol and obtain training from them in the form of some perk
-possibly obtain a set of ranger combat armor from them
i know it won't be nearly as good as what the modding community will come up with
Giving my launcher a redesign, opinions?

Has anyone else noticed regular Super Mutant Warlords are 10 times harder to kill than Legendary Alpha Glowing Deathclaws which take like 3 seconds to kill? What's up with that?
I wish I could've gotten better lighting for this.

I'm guessing Deathclaws have a lower level cap than Super Mutants do. Seems Super Mutants and human enemies scale with you pretty much indefinitely if you're in the right areas, while monsters and robots usually have more narrow level ranges.

I actually found this mod that changes limb damage multipliers for deathclaws and makes it so they take 75% less damage like they should
after figuring out how that mod worked I made my own in which super mutants are much easier to kill in-turn
what I'm confused about is what's the point to these "Body Part Data" values if they're all the same multipliers, like it's literally all the same--everyone takes double damage to the head, and normal damage to everywhere else
I kinda like the combat rifle because it's got that BAR feel to it, especially when you put it in 308.
Then the assault rifle just looks like they took a water cooled M2 browning, then scaled it down for 5.56 and gave it a pistol grip, stock, and removable magazines.
Like I'm legit angry you can't mod it into a machine gun with belt-fed ammunition akin to the minigun.
I thought the assault rifle was based on the Lewis gun.

pretty neat, I like the snow, ion and acid effects, firestorm is ...ok, time rift looks naf.
I heard that if you're at a lower level (1-10 or something like that) then power armor only spawns as T-45, and if you're at a higher level (15-25?) then only T-51 spawns, and at higher levels only T-60 and X-01 spawn
What if you do all the quests except the museum of freedom quest, get to like level 60 or something and then when you go to see the power armor at the top it's t-60 armor?
