I kinda like the idea that the Super Mutants are there to thin the herd so the Institute can take over a bit sooner.
You could argue that that's a stupid idea since they'd have to deal with the Mutants somehow afterwards, but tbh it's a plan that people have tried in real life, several times over. Ask Australia about controlling beetles with cane toads, and what a great idea that was. Add a bunch of slightly crazy, isolated, and totally disconnected from reality scientists to the mix, and I could see them trying to do that to unwanted humans. Mutants are even sterile, so unlike toads it's actually possible to get rid of them, at least in theory.
Plus if they put explosive devices in each of their bodies or something like that, there you go, that's how you get rid of them when the time comes.
Once they've done their job, suddenly every supermutant's head explodes all at once.

he says he pretty much believed you would kill him eventually, his wife was killed by bandits and he tracked them down and killed them, you do the same. Also i'm pretty sure he knew the institute was sending him into a trap

Nope. I've tried time and time again to find out how that shit works and tbh we're probably going to have to wait for the G.E.C.K. because I'm not seeing any possible way in FO4Edit to accomplish this.
The one time I got close though was adding power armor keywords to a helmet, though the main issues were 1: you had to be in power armor to wear the helmet and 2: you had to be in power armor to hear the effect
but I did manage to get a helmet that wasn't a power armor helmet to have the distortion effect, so what this tells me is that getting the effect has something to do with keywords and the power armor "race"
i'm really surprised there's no weapon mod for the pipe revolver that lets it take shotgun shells
it's already massive, i think it'd be a cool weapon
actually why is it freakin massive, i don't think .45 bullets are even that big
especially with how easy it would be to do unlike a pump shotgun

Also tbh, I haven't played FO4 in like month now if not slightly more, but I'm kinda looking forwards to...reinstalling the piece of shit again, plus all updated mods, plus DLC.
But that's something to worry about in the future.
Welp, I don't know if it's the beta or what, but now FO4 won't run for more than a minute before crashing. I walked off the bridge in Sanctuary shortly after loading the save and crashed; restarted the game and fast-traveled to Natick and got in a tussle with a super mutant only to crash after landing a few shots on him, repeated that one more time and gave up. Is this common?

it was Q1 2016, but yeah, I was hoping for January as well.
